My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1698: Chapter 1492: After I Leave

”Perhaps you think that your love back then was humble, but has anyone ever stood in our shoes, considered our perspective, and thought about the hardships we faced on every path we’ve walked? How painful each step was as we turned into who we are today?

No one accepts love without giving love in return, such a life is not one either you or I want.”

Zhang Yichen truly didn’t understand what was so good about his mother, why his father devoted himself so wholeheartedly to loving her, knowing full well that the person in his wife’s heart was not him, yet she was willing to sacrifice everything for this person. What was all this for? His love for his own wife was never this deep.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what his son was thinking. All he knew was that the only thing he could do now was to love his son earnestly, hoping to move his wife, to let her know that he was indeed the man who loved her the most in this world, proving that everything can change, and settling for the status quo isn’t the best happiness.

”I really don’t understand, what is so great about my mother? Why do you love her so intensely? Over the years, how has she treated you? Do you really not know in your heart?

You’ve been deceiving yourself all along, but somehow made yourself believe it was true. Living in self-deception for decades, do you find it worthwhile?

You are willing to sacrifice everything for her, even to the extent of discarding the family’s entire reputation painstakingly built by grandpa over a century, and for her, you could even abandon the century-old business passed down by your father.

In your eyes, besides her, what else is worth holding onto? What do you take your family for by doing this?

Do you really regard them so lightly now?

Can you casually hurt them now? Hurting your loved ones, what good does it do for you? Ultimately, all it does is push them further away, and those who love you feel repeatedly disappointed by your actions; they eventually decide to give up on you, and your actions cause great sadness to every person who loves you. Why would they keep unwaveringly loving you?

Have you never considered what consequences your actions might lead to? You only know what you want out of life, but do you realize that the person you love doesn’t actually love you back?”

”Child, you don’t understand; some things aren’t as simple as you imagine. He and I have shared a bed for decades, and I know his character better than you. You can’t form such judgments based on her side of the story.

I’ve thought before, even if he one day doesn’t want to stay with me and leaves for another, I would still sincerely wish him well.

Should the day come when he wishes to return to me, I would welcome him with open arms, because he is my greatest love. I can forsake all my limits for him; loving him means I can relinquish all my dignity, that’s what true love is!

A person can abandon all their principles and dignity, willing to give up everything they’ve held dear, if they don’t love that person, then why sacrifice so much for them?”

Zhang Yichen felt his father’s love was too humble. He would sacrifice even his life for his mother, but why, in his mother’s eyes, was all of this simply a mistake? Why did his mother refuse to love his father even a little bit more?

Even as he grew up, they had never invested anything for him, never worried about him, yet in his mother’s eyes, he was never enough. Is the human heart truly so unpredictable? For his so-called freedom, he abandoned me, and now for so-called love, he discards the entire family. Again and again, he casts me aside; does he even think of me as his son?

Zhang Yichen felt increasingly distressed, unable to imagine what his mother truly thought of him deep down. All he wanted was to stay beside his parents, yet each conclusion left him feeling increasingly passive.

”Do you know that even though you love him so much, he doesn’t love you? I’ve never seen anyone love someone like you do; your love is too humble. In her eyes, she can’t tell if you love her or not.

In her eyes, only her love matters. She chose to abandon me for her so-called freedom in the past, now she wants to abandon our entire family for her love. In her eyes, everything we have is disposable, but that person she can never forget.

In her heart, everything is just an accessory to her; she can disregard us all because in her eyes, we’re not truly her family!

I really don’t understand why, even after all his resolute actions, you choose to love him so deeply, what reason could possibly make you disregard everything for him again and again?

We are people too, we have souls, and each time we’re hurt, our hearts ache as we bear the agony you inflict again and again, all for what? Just because you are my parents?

Do you think it’s acceptable to recklessly hurt my genuine heart for you?

Enough is enough, why continuously test my patience? Is this truly good for you? Do you really intend to force me to the brink?”

Zhang Zhentian, too, knew his love was too humble. Maybe it was because of this humility that his wife remained unmoved, while disregarding all of his efforts and ignoring every word he said, resulting in this miserable state. If it weren’t for this, if he had been more manly, wouldn’t everything have been different, and his wife’s view of him changed? Was everything because he was too cowardly and incompetent?

”No matter if I am humble or not, my love for him is not humble. My love for him is strong and resolute, it will not change for anything. I believe that one day, he will realize that my love for him is anything but humble...”

Life is like a dream, fleeting like a moment, knowing it’s wrong, yet still choosing to go forward heedlessly!
