My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1655: Chapter 1449: Isolation

Zhang Yichen didn’t want to say much to his father, so he left and went home. He felt that his father was no longer the person he used to be. Now he has become numb and ruthless, resorting to unscrupulous means. He couldn’t let such a father stay by his grandfather’s side because it would only hurt grandpa more and more deeply.

Zhang Zhentian watched his son unwilling to pay him any attention. He knew he had overstepped again this time. Originally, he always acted without thinking things through. If he had been more thoughtful, would everything not have turned out so badly? Why is it that he never learns to think for himself, always doing things that hurt others? Does causing such harm to others equate to his greatest happiness and joy? He didn’t want much, yet in the end, he hurt those who loved him the most.

Ran Zhihan found out that her husband had conflicts with both her grandfather and father-in-law. Her heart ached a little. Although the issue didn’t directly involve her, she knew very well that ever since that incident, her husband refused to share a bed with her as he felt deceived by her as a wife; she hadn’t given him the basic trust and respect. This saddened him greatly. Many times, she couldn’t understand why she acted on her own. If she had told her husband about the matter or informed her grandfather, would things have turned out differently? If she had revealed it to grandpa, it might not have escalated to this extent. It was all because of her momentary selfishness, but was she really at fault? Was it a mistake to protect him, seen as an unforgivable betrayal in his eyes? Why does everyone have such different definitions of betrayal? In her eyes, unless he cheated, it wasn’t betrayal. Even if he said something wrong to her, she would think it’s understandable and would forgive him without hesitation. But why does he think of her this way?

She went to the study to find her grandfather but discovered Old Master Zhang was not there. She quickly went to his bedroom and knocked on the door, but no one answered for a long time. She was a bit worried—was her grandfather asleep inside, or had something happened? Sensing something amiss, she quickly forced the lock open and pushed the door to find her grandfather passed out on the floor, his face pale and frightening. Even more worried, she immediately called for an ambulance and rushed Old Master Zhang to the hospital. After repeated resuscitations by the doctors, they concluded that Old Master Zhang had a heart attack. Previously, they didn’t know he had heart issues, and neither did Old Master Zhang. It was an outburst of anger that caused his emotions to block his heart, leading to the sudden heart attack.

Ran Zhihan hurriedly informed Zhang Yichen about the news. Zhang Yichen originally didn’t want to pick up her call, but thinking that he might miss something urgent, he reluctantly picked up. When he heard his wife on the phone saying that grandpa was critically ill in the hospital, he was very concerned and quickly drove to the hospital as if flying.

”Zhihan, how is grandpa? Please tell me how grandpa is doing. He never had heart issues; how did he suddenly have a heart attack this time? Is there something I don’t know? Please tell me quickly. I’m really worried about grandpa in this state!”

”Yichen, don’t worry too much first. Let me tell you, grandpa fainted at home this time. When I went to find him, I found the door was closed and felt something was amiss. I thought grandpa was asleep, but finally, when I pried open the door and went inside, I saw grandpa passed out on the floor and immediately called to send him to the hospital. The doctors eventually discovered grandpa had a sudden heart attack and issued a critical condition notice, saying it was due to anger causing his emotions to block the heart and leading to the heart attack. Grandpa shouldn’t experience any more shocks or overly worry about other things in the future; otherwise, his heart issues might flare up again. This time, the rescue was timely, but next time there’s no guarantee of no accidents, so we must take good care of grandpa...”

”How could this happen? Grandpa never had heart issues, and his heart was always healthy. I’ve never heard him mention having any heart disease before. So why did he suddenly have a heart attack this time? What caused such a drastic change in him?” Just as Zhang Yichen finished speaking, he immediately understood that this matter must be related to his good father. If it weren’t for his father stubbornly refusing to come home, how could grandpa be so angered? If it weren’t for his father repeatedly refusing grandpa’s goodwill, how could he now be in the hospital with a sudden heart attack? He really doesn’t know how to describe his father now; even his biological father could bring harm to them. He felt his father had really changed; he was completely different from before.

At this moment, he silently made a decision in his heart that he would never forgive his biological father in this lifetime. His father could cause harm to anyone, including himself, without reason, but he absolutely wouldn’t allow anyone to harm his grandpa. He doesn’t blame his father for all the wrongs or for hurting him so many times, but he only blames his father for hurting his grandpa. Anyone that harms Old Master Zhang has committed unforgivable wrongdoing in his heart!

Zhang Yichen sent a message to Zhang Zhentian: ”As you wished, grandpa is critically ill now. If it’s because of you, grandpa ended up like this. I hope you remember that no matter what happens, grandpa never needed your concern. Due to your refusal, grandpa had a heart attack. You harmed the person who was best to me, you harmed the person who loved me the most. From today, we no longer have any relationship, and if anything else happens to grandpa, I will never forgive you; you will never get anyone’s forgiveness. He is your biological father, and you could cause such harm; it shows your heart is so cruel...”
