My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1687: Chapter 1481: Outstanding

Every parent hopes their child will succeed. Which parent doesn’t want their son to become a dragon or their daughter to become a phoenix?

Xia Jing, to tell the truth, also feels uneasy deep down. He hopes his family can forgive him and sincerely let him return home. But some things really can’t be resolved by just a few simple words. The harm caused in the past, how could it be forgotten just by talking?

She knows that if it were her, it wouldn’t be so easy to let go of everything completely. She holds grudges more easily, but his actions have almost chilled everyone to the core. Is everything he’s done truly without any errors? Does no one really know what he truly wants? He never really thought about what kind of life he wants in this lifetime.

He always thought his steps needed to follow the crowd, but he wanted to walk a different path from others. Even if following the crowd, he wanted to make everyone know he was unique.

The moment he chose to become a Mercenary, he knew his life would no longer be the same as others. His path is too difficult and dangerous; while others only seek a stable life, he lives a life of licking blood off the knife’s edge. He knows this was the most thrilling life of his existence. He feared that after marriage, he could no longer live this life. So he chose this path, but who knew that her husband after remarriage would be so good to her, even choosing to join the Mercenaries.

How could he refuse? When a man goes to such lengths, how could his innermost feelings not be moved?

”Zhihan, actually you really never blamed your father for these things. He did this without any malice. Over the years, the pain he endured was not less than yours. At least you all could be together as a family, but he was all alone outside. I know saying this seems unfair to you. The decision to take this wrong path was his own choice. No one can be blamed. But over these years, he’s realized his mistakes. He never imagined he would endure so much pain and suffering.

I believe he loved not you, but me. If I hadn’t forcibly taken him away back then, things would never have come to this. If I hadn’t suggested wandering the world together, he wouldn’t have said those things to me afterwards, taking me away from this family. Everything should be blamed on me. All mistakes were caused by me alone. I can’t blame him, nor should you blame your father. He isn’t at fault. It’s been me who was wrong all along, I made you this way, made your family suffer so much. It’s me who turned your beloved husband into this, it’s me who repeatedly caused pain and torment to those you love most.

Zhihan, you are a good daughter-in-law. In comparison to me, you exceed me in many ways. But there are some things I want to make clear with you. Don’t blame your father for anything he did. He was never wrong. You should resent me instead. Everything was caused by me, and how could I push all this pain onto him and make him bear it all? While I sit aside, enjoying everything without effort, I really can’t do that!”

Ran Zhihan knows how hard it was for Xia Jing to say these words to her. Why force him to do more? Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, and as long as they realize and correct them, who can hang onto past grievances forever?

”Mom, I don’t mean to blame you. I just feel this world is unfair. Others have parents with them, but why not my husband? Why can others laugh happily, but my husband has to cry in secret? I can’t accept this result for everything he’s done.

I believe deep down, your thoughts are the same as mine. He is so outstanding, so perfect, so flawless. But why does he bear all this pain?

I don’t blame you or anyone. It’s my fault for being too weak when I met him, unable to protect her. If I could protect her that day, I would never let this happen. I would let her stay happily by my side, and we wouldn’t have been separated for so many years.

Mom, since you all chose to return to this family, you should make the right choice. If you act like before, indistinguishably from right or wrong, decide to leave this family to seek freedom again, then you are hugely wrong. I’m not worried about whether you’ll come back again. I’m only concerned if this family can still accept you then.”

Xia Jing understands what Ran Zhihan means. He knows his daughter-in-law is saying these things for his own good, but there are some things beyond his control. He deeply misses, promising himself to clear up many past misunderstandings one day. It was never a mistake; he wants everyone to know what he did wasn’t the biggest mistake. He wants every family member to live the peaceful life they desire.

”Let’s discuss these matters later. There’s no point in talking about them now. Knowing your mind matters, and there’s no need to reveal anything unsaid. It wouldn’t end well for anyone.

You know, family disgrace shouldn’t be spread. That’s why you keep your grievances and pain buried. No one ever hears about them. It makes me feel I owe you even more.

Like your father said, since we decided to return to this family, we’ll definitely make up for all the pain you’ve suffered over the years...”

By the time he realizes, he will have returned...
