My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1667: Chapter 1461: The Gloomy Moonlight

Another year has passed without seeing her; I’m still waiting foolishly, but where on earth is she?

Xia Jing will never believe that her marriage to her husband is fortunate. Maybe what he says now will eventually prove to be nothing more than lies he used to deceive himself.

For Zhang Zhentian, the entire world has collapsed. All she wanted was to go back to her father’s side, but he personally ruined everything for himself. What right or reason does he have now to say these words when his own family has been shattered by his own hands? Sometimes he regrets why, after giving so much, he’s ended up with this result. What he really wants is not much, yet it seems what he desires is always out of reach. Perhaps he will never attain what he most longs for.

”I hope you won’t tell such insincere lies anymore. Do you know? Every word you said today, I didn’t believe for a moment. I feel you’re only saying these things to deceive me. You’ve lied so many times before that I’ve lost confidence in you. Since there’s no trust between us, what meaning is there in being together? It would only bring us greater harm!

In the past, I would abandon everything recklessly for you, but now I can’t. The day you abandoned me proved that I needed to change myself, that I can no longer naïvely give everything for you. In your eyes, I could never hope for anything in return. What you want is only the kind of happiness you envision, but you don’t understand the kind of happiness I seek in my world. Maybe that happiness isn’t happiness to you at all?

Often, upon reflection, I’ve realized our thoughts and concepts are too different. What I love, you don’t. What I wish to protect, you have no desire to. What I respect, you disregard. How can two people live together with such contrasting views? Letting go might be the best outcome for both of us. As long as we release each other, there’s still a chance for a happy life. But if we cling endlessly to these things, each other’s happiness will only be destroyed.”

”Every word I’ve said to you today is the truth. I just want to be with you genuinely. Being with you is the greatest fortune of my life, and these words come from my heart. Yet, you choose to doubt me. You don’t trust me because you think every word I say is a lie. You never considered trusting me for a moment. Do you know how much that pains me inside? What I really want is not much; all I ask for is to be by your side!

You always think every word I say is a lie meant to deceive you back to my side. Do I truly seem so miserable in your eyes? Am I merely someone who spouts endless lies to achieve my goals? Ask yourself, throughout these years together, have I ever done anything to wrong you? No matter how willful you were, I treated you as the most cherished in my life, but how about you? Have you genuinely treated me with sincerity? Have you sincerely wanted to be with me forever?

I don’t understand why you keep lying, deceiving me time and again. In your eyes, is our relationship not even worth those lies? If you truly believe in me in your heart, then you wouldn’t need to weave lie after lie to deceive me. The fact that you fabricate lies shows that your heart chose not to trust me. A marriage without trust, I don’t fancy it. Slowly I realized, I do wish for you to be by my side no matter what. I want nothing more than for you to accompany me, to never leave me for eternity!”

Xia Jing sighed. He didn’t know what to say at that moment. He knew every action he took was hard for anyone to accept, yet the man before him had given up so much for him. What right did he have to ask for more, to demand more from him? He was always so greedy, repeatedly trying to take from his beloved, just because he assumed she loved him. Because of that, he made mistake after unforgivable mistake. But in the end, could he really hope for unconditional love and sacrifice?

Deep inside, he knew his husband loved him dearly, even more than he loved himself. Yet he couldn’t turn back because having chosen this path, looking back would only lead to failure. He didn’t want to be made a fool of, mocked for being a woman incapable of leaving her husband. She wanted everyone to see clearly that life didn’t hinge on her husband. He wanted to prove to the world that she was the strongest woman, capable of thriving alone, proving to all women that they didn’t necessarily need to live with their husbands. A woman could find her own sky as long as she had the capability.

”Please don’t deceive me with any more insincere lies. From this moment on, all ties between us shall be severed. I won’t contact you again, because doing so would only bring back waves of painful memories, pain that can’t be forgotten with mere words. The hurt you’ve caused me can’t easily be erased or undone by a few warm words. You should first recognize what you’ve done yourself, and know clearly within you, actions can’t be undone just by deciding to forget. The clearing of marks is not something that can be erased just like that!”

”Even after I’ve made myself so clear today, you still choose to cut off all ties with me? Does that really mean you don’t want to live with me anymore? Does living with me really hurt more than losing your life? Could you put aside your pride temporarily, forgo this so-called dignity, and live with me properly? Why not give us another chance? Why choose a path of no return, where reconciliation is impossible?”

A life without regrets is truly difficult!
