My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1678: Chapter 1472: Sense of Security

In fact, all of this is just the deepest longing they have for each other. They don’t know when their loved ones will return to them.

Old Master Zhang now knows that the family is in chaos, and he feels embarrassed for not managing the family’s affairs well and failing to keep peace within the family. Unfortunately, there are some things he can’t solve. All he can do is repeatedly ask his son to bow his head and admit his mistakes. But even if his son finally bows his head and admits his mistakes, can this broken family relationship return to its past harmony?

She once naively thought that as long as her son and daughter-in-law could return home, this home would never fall apart. But now she realizes that it was all a lie and that things are not that simple. Everything changed since they returned home. The family started experiencing turmoil, and he had no way to pretend these things hadn’t happened, no way to see these issues as unrelated to his son.

Originally, he thought that as long as his son could come back home and change himself, he wouldn’t mind anything. But now he questions whether this conclusion truly reflects a sincere effort to amend all the mistakes. They never really considered where they went wrong. Now, the family has become such a mess, and his son has become increasingly unpredictable, leading to turmoil within the family. Sometimes, he doesn’t even know whether bringing them back home was right or wrong. Is it wrong for him to wish for his loved ones to return to the family fold? Why did things become so abnormal in the family once they returned, with illnesses and hospitalizations?

Zhang Zhentian knows what his father is thinking deep down, but there are things he can’t voice to his father. He knows he has repeatedly crossed his father’s boundaries, and doing anything more might only increase his father’s resentment towards him.

”Dad, even if you don’t say it, I know what you’re thinking. You blame all the mistakes on me because you think everything is a consequence of my actions. But have you ever considered that the results of these repeated issues are really only my fault? Have you ever thought about what you bring to the table each time?

You always believe that every mistake I make is wrong and that everything you do is right. But have you considered what your actions have brought to the family? Is it repeated hurt, or do you see hurting every family member as something insignificant? Do you think hurting others is acceptable because family members won’t blame you, while we’re treated like chess pieces used to harm others, or just to display your supposed kindness and generosity?

From the moment you agreed to let us return home, I knew things weren’t that simple.

How could a rebellious father agree so easily to our return just because his son pleaded for it? After all, we made countless mistakes, and now I realize that everything is more complicated than it seemed. In your eyes, no matter what we sacrifice, it doesn’t matter. It’s insignificant to you. You don’t care about our innermost feelings. You only want to achieve your goals by any means because your goals matter more than anyone’s happiness. As long as you achieve your purpose, what does it matter if you hurt your loved ones? Just a simple apology and all mistakes will be forgotten!”

”Look at what you’re saying. Do you even resemble my son at all?

As a younger generation, is this how you speak to your father? Do you think your attitude is correct? Why do you never look for reasons within yourself? If it weren’t for your return, how would my grandson have constant contact with you, neglecting his wife, and causing her to become like this? You retire all the mistakes onto my shoulders.

Am I, as the head of the family, only here to take the blame and clean up your mess?

In doing things, you must rely on facts. Now you treat me this way, and I don’t understand how I should act to make you understand my intentions. No matter how I act, in your eyes, I will always be the one at fault. But think about what you said when you left. You swore you would never step foot in the Zhang Family house for the rest of your life, even if it meant wandering endlessly and dying outside, you swore you would never have anything to do with the Zhang Family again. Back then, you were full of pride and spoke confidently. Why has it come to this now? If you had the ability to wander outside for a lifetime, why choose to come back?

If you feel wronged by staying at home and feel grievances in this family, you can leave. I won’t try to stop you because keeping you here only results in repeatedly hurting the people I care about most. My days are numbered, and I no longer care about how I die. What I care about is whether I can preserve peace within this family before I die, whether I can see my grandson happy again, whether my granddaughter-in-law can return to the way she was. All of this is my fault. Maybe I should never have let you come back in the first place. For the sake of bringing you back, I’ve swallowed my pride and taken the step your son provided. But now, what have you done for us in return? Repeatedly hurting us? You think you can work hard in this family, but have you really done so? No, because deep down, you can’t let go of your high and mighty pride.

Everyone has their own pride, and as a man, I understand your unyielding pride. But why does every action you take contradict the responsibilities of a man? You’ve only chosen to do what serves your immediate needs, without considering how it would hurt others. You live so selfishly and self-absorbed, and a son like you, I might as well not have...”

The road ahead may not be easy, but giving up is not an option!
