My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1691: Chapter 1485: Impulsiveness

Now, I finally understand that no matter what you do, you can’t be impulsive. Once you’re impulsive, it will lead to consequences you can’t bear.

Zhang Zhentian heard his son ask him again and again, and he started to reflect on himself. Was it really a wrong decision this time? Should he really leave this family, abandon his own child, and let his child remain lonely there? Why is it that nothing he did was ever right? Why, no matter what he does, he can never satisfy his family? What kind of achievements should he make in this life? What kind of actions would make his family look at him with new eyes, rather than belittling him time and again, rather than looking down on him?

In fact, deep down, he doesn’t understand that it’s not his family looking down on him, but every action he took was too excessive, too overboard. He no longer understands what he should do. Every action he has taken has become numb. He doesn’t know whether he’s doing this for his own selfish reasons or for his family. He talks about considering his family, but only he knows what’s truly in his heart.

Zhang Yichen felt that since he had already spoken so frankly, there was no need to continue. If his father decides to stay in this family, then he will surely treat them well, no matter what kind of decisions they made or things they said before, he would never make things difficult for them. However, if they choose to leave once again, then he will never forgive them in this lifetime. No one can make mistakes repeatedly and always receive forgiveness from others.

”I’ve already spoken to this extent. You should think carefully about whether to go or stay. If you leave, you should understand what kind of outcome I will predict. If you really leave, we will no longer be father and son in this lifetime. Wherever you go, please don’t say you are my father, because I don’t have a father like you. If my father chooses to leave me, it proves he doesn’t regard me as a son, so why should I desperately try to keep my own father?

Many times, I really don’t understand how you can harden your heart to abandon us again and again. In your eyes, are we unworthy of you staying, for you to sacrifice even a little? You only do everything for your own selfish interests, always believing every decision you make is correct. But have you considered if those decisions are truly correct? You hurt us over and over, driving us to a dead end each time, yet we’ve never complained, because I know I should be happy no matter what, as you are my father. No matter what kind of harm you inflict on me as a son, I should understand, I have no reason to hate you, because you gave me life. Even if you never raised me, having provided the gift of life is still significant, and I must regard you as my closest kin. Yet, the things you’ve done have repeatedly left me utterly disappointed, disappointment that no one can comprehend.”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know how to explain to his son that this situation was indeed his own fault. Despite all he had given, it still resulted in this outcome. He never imagined there would come a day where his relationship with his son would fall to this state. Is this really the ending he once desired? It’s entirely different, but he has come this far already; what should he do now? Again and again, he’s only left to let his child criticize him, the elder, while he remains speechless, even without a chance to argue back, much less any reason to retaliate.

Sometimes, thinking about all the things he’s done, it’s hard to discern for what purpose it was for. Again and again, he hurt his family, truly treating them as his life’s biggest adversary, yet he forgot that family needs nurturing too. When he sold out his family and abandoned them heartlessly every time, he should have foreseen such an outcome. But why, even when faced with this conclusion, does a part of him remain unwilling to accept it? Even if there were a slightly different outcome, he longed so much for this not to be the ultimate consequence. But why is it always an unchangeable fact?

Old Master Zhang understood that his grandson had already made the biggest concession. He was willing to speak out to retain his father, already a tremendous step, but why were they still so stubbornly muddled? Does every decision really have to leave everyone in the family saddened and hurt? Time and again, they abandoned the ones they loved most from their heart for their own desires. Were those decisions right or wrong? Clearly, they wanted to stay in this family but had no choice but to leave, simply because their daughter-in-law developed depression over one reason or another. Did they leave again heartlessly for this one reason, or because they truly couldn’t stay in the house any longer and used this as an excuse to leave?

”Though I really don’t want to interfere in this matter, I still have to tell you, since your child can come this far, willing to take a step back to where we are currently, it shows that he truly hopes you can return. But if you make a wrong decision this time and choose to leave, you will indeed lose your child in this lifetime. Whether to continue living with your kids, it’s up to your decision. Whatever choice you make will lead to the corresponding outcome, a phrase that’s been repeated countless times already, so you should think carefully. As an elder, I don’t wish to waste more words on this matter, but I hope you understand that your child sincerely hopes you can return to his side. He is your child, and as a child, he just wants his parents to be there with him, doing nothing else matters. If you do feel any bit of guilt for him in your hearts, please make the most correct decision; don’t wait until it’s too late to regret and beg others for forgiveness. There’s no such easy thing in this world, and there’s no regret pill that can be sold repeatedly!”

He used to always dislike his own impulsiveness, but if he could return now, he was willing to mend his ways for him.
