My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1672: Chapter 1466: The Mortal World

A week later, Zhang Zhentian, after a week of antibiotic treatment, was gradually recovering, which was something worth celebrating and being proud of for everyone.

Xia Jing was almost completely healed now. All she wanted was for everything to be clean, for her husband to wake up, and that would complete her world. She had thoroughly come to terms with this now and believed that instead of dwelling on the past, it’s better to cherish the present. He could not let go of past events because he had buried his heart time and again. He was unwilling to open up to anyone because opening his heart only brought him harm.

But this time, she really intended to open her heart once again.

She owed her husband too much. If once again she was unwilling to open her heart as before, then what could she bring to her husband while living in this world? Just more hurt, perhaps? She really couldn’t bear to let her loved ones suffer any more pain. Even if she had to endure all the suffering herself, it was better than letting the ones she loved get hurt.

In Xia Jing’s heart now, she didn’t want anything for herself; she just wanted her family to be safe, her husband back in her heart. She wanted to ensure that those she loved wouldn’t be unfairly treated again because of her, nor did she want them to argue fiercely time after time because of her.

When her husband argued with her father, she was there. She saw the fierce arguments time after time, and it didn’t make her happy at all, but she was also in no position to stop it!

She knew that everything her husband did was for her, which is why he couldn’t bear it any longer. This was not the life she wanted. She simply wished for her husband to be safe and happy, yet she ended up causing him such pain. It was all her own doing, but if she were the one lying there, how much better things might be—then she wouldn’t have to bear the pain of longing.

Xia Jing felt that if time could indeed go back, she would never choose this ending. She would choose to steadfastly stay by her husband’s side, giving him the warmest heart. All she wanted was for her husband to be happy and joyful every day, without facing blows from others or unmerited harm.

”Do you think I was wrong? Why is it that in everyone else’s eyes, everything I do never encounters anyone willing to understand me? Is it really as easy as they imagine for me to get to where I am today step by step? No one has ever considered the torment within my heart. I also wish to live a happy life, not to be like a hedgehog anymore!

You are all my loved ones. Deep down, I treasure you so much and hope you can always be by my side because that kind of companionship has been the happiest thing for me in my life. Nobody willingly waits for such an end result. You know, I long so much for you to stay by my side forever and never leave, but it’s nothing more than my imagination. No one can remain in this world without disappearing!

I have lived all these years, each step a struggle, getting to where I am today through my own efforts. No matter what I’ve been through, I’ve never shed a tear of pain because I know crying isn’t something I should do, and it doesn’t bring me any results!

If, in encountering difficulties and tears before marriage, I chose not to face them and only hid to cry silently, would those dangers really leave me? Would I no longer encounter these difficulties? Absolutely not. Every conclusion I’ve ever reached has always been so challenging. No one knows how much pain is in my heart, and I always show strength in front of others.

Because I don’t want anyone to see the truth deep in my heart, I don’t want others to know what kind of person I am. I want to use my disguise to hide who I really am underneath. Maybe living under this false mask will create a different life for me.”

”Mom, actually you haven’t done anything wrong at all. We, your family, know what you’ve been through over these years. You’re not ruthless; in fact, the ruthless one was me, urging Grandpa to shut you out when you wanted to come back home and be by my side. Because my hatred blinded me, I lost the chance to be with you time and again, forgetting what made me lose the things I loved the most!

Mom, as long as you can come back to my side, nothing else matters to me!

When Dad wakes up, I’ll bring both of you home to live with us, never to leave again. I’ll take good care of you; I believe, with my own power, I can sustain you both. I’m not weak or incapable.”

Xia Jing knew her son wasn’t weak or incapable; on the contrary, she knew he was truly capable, more so than many others. She believed her son was able to rise to the peak of the world, proving his own ability through each step to the present. As a mother, she never fulfilled even a tiny fraction of her responsibilities, which made her feel deeply guilty.

”Yichen, it’s Mom who owes you. These years you’ve struggled so hard on your own while I never stood by you to offer any help or encouragement. Mom truly doesn’t know how I could ever make up for the debt I owe you deep inside.

You chose to hate Mom, which might’ve given you some peace of mind, yet now you don’t even choose to hate me, and my heart gets heavier. I feel ashamed—mothers usually want to stay by their children’s side and won’t leave no matter what, but I abandoned you just a month after you were born. How could there be such a mother like me in the world? You must have really hated me then, right?

You’ve fought tooth and nail to climb up, striving desperately not to care about anything, just to prove to your dad and me that abandoning you was a monumental mistake, didn’t you?

The truth is that you have shown us the error in leaving behind a daughter, causing all of us to feel guilty and sad because we should never have abandoned you. It was only after abandoning you that we realized just how important family really is. If I had chosen to stay by your side, things wouldn’t have turned out this way between us.

Maybe your father wouldn’t be lying here now, and I wouldn’t have these recurring intense arguments with him!

To me, deep in my heart, you are indeed my good son. Everything you’ve shown me has broadened my mind. You’ve proven that as long as you work hard, there will always be rewards. Heaven is fair: the efforts you put forth determine your reap. If you’re unwilling to give, how can you hope for the perfect rewards from heaven?”

”Mom, let’s not talk about these things now. I believe our family can return to the happiest times. I haven’t had a single moment these years with my parents by my side, so let me experience that once again, please. I really look forward to knowing what those days feel like. When I was young, seeing other kids with their parents hand in hand walking on the street, I was utterly envious. I never imagined my parents would ever hold my hand, for I knew it was impossible. Even if my parents finally came home and held my hand at that moment, I had already reached the top of the world.

I always forced myself to train hard, for I couldn’t let anyone look down on me; if they did, Grandpa would be disappointed. Grandpa is a man of pride, and his dignity is more important than mine. I couldn’t let my incompetence cause others to criticize Grandpa. I couldn’t let Grandpa’s pride be harmed in any way.
