My Alleged Husband

Chapter 1652: Chapter 1446: Forgetting Worries

Xia Jing never thought that her husband would so calmly choose to let her go far away this time. He knew that every request she made was almost impossible for this man before her. Although she said she never wanted to have any dealings with this man again, in her heart, she still hoped that someday she could meet the man she once loved again. She could never forget this man, no matter how much he claimed to have forgotten her. She simply couldn’t face her own heart. How could she let others rub salt into her inner wounds time and time again?

Zhang Zhentian forced a smile, trying to show it to his wife again. He knew that this might be the last time he would see his wife in this lifetime. However, he did not regret it. Instead, he felt it was a good result. Everything in the past had turned out this way because of him, and now all of it would end because of him.

Xia Jing saw that her husband tried so hard to force a smile. Her heart ached. No matter what, he was once the man she loved the most, but today things had come to this. How could her heart not ache? Although all of this had very little to do with her, she still felt she couldn’t escape responsibility.

”Actually, you don’t need to waste time on me anymore. You can find a woman who deserves you more, who will be better than me. Unlike me, everything I do only makes you sad. I’ve made you sad for so long. You should live your own life happily and joyfully, without wasting time on me. I’m not worth it.”

”Actually, your heart still cares about me, doesn’t it? You just don’t know how to talk to me, or how to continue life with me. You think being together is inappropriate because I hurt you before. But I want to ask if there’s still a place for me in your heart. All I need is a truthful word. Please don’t make it hard for me anymore, okay? I’m begging you!”

”That’s right, there’s no way I could just forget about you. After all, we’ve been together for more than a decade. The love for you, things I’ve done, is like water spilled out, never to be reclaimed. Everyone understands the saying ’spilled water can’t be gathered up again.’ We’ve become like this now, and neither of us should make it harder for the other. You should have your own happy life, and I should wander alone to the places I want. It might be hard and painful, but I still want to take on the challenge. I don’t want to waste all my time here for the rest of my life.

No matter what you’ve done or said, I’ve already forgiven you long ago. I just didn’t know how to tell you. I thought if I told you beforehand, then I would lose my dignity. I’ve always been a woman who cared deeply about my dignity. Even hurting the one I love was possible to preserve it. You’ve always been deep in my heart, never leaving, and I just didn’t know how to face you anymore.”

”Hearing these sincere words from you, I’m very touched. Thank you for telling me this. When you’re out there on your own, you must be careful. Don’t easily trust what strangers say. You’re a silly woman; you easily believe what others say and can easily be fooled. So always be on guard. Don’t trust anyone in the world except me. I’m afraid they might deceive you, and you’ll be hurt, while I won’t be able to rush to your side right away.

All these situations arose because of me, and so, no matter what, I must take full responsibility. By letting go of you and letting you leave here, I hope you understand that I still love you. My love for you is no less than before. On the contrary, I love you even more because you’ve given me such a perfect life. Although you won’t be by my side in the future, I still am grateful to you for giving me so many happy years.

My words remain the same: If you’re tired from wandering outside, remember to come back. Wherever I am is your home; where I am is always your home. I will wait patiently at home for you to return to my side. I won’t force or make it difficult for you anymore. I will quietly support every decision you make. I will watch you work step-by-step to achieve everything you desire. When you’ve accomplished everything you want to do, I’ll be silently proud of you, because you are my wife, my wife for life. This is a fact that no one can change. Sometimes I’m really stubborn, but please believe that my love for you is sincere...”

Xia Jing knew that it was incredibly hard for Zhang Zhentian to say these words to her. His willingness to say them today proved that he truly had opened his heart and was willing to let her find her own path. Should she be happy about it? Why did she feel a bit unhappy? Was it because she still couldn’t forget him?

”Since you’ve said so, I won’t say anything more. I just hope that during this time, you can live a happy life as you wish. Remember to live well. Who knows, maybe one day I will not want to wander outside anymore and will want to come back to you. I hope you won’t turn me away then, okay...”

The two who once loved each other most eventually went down this path. No one expected it to end this way. Their deep love was eventually destroyed by mutual distrust, causing the marriage to fall apart. If only they had truly been more loving to each other, would it have become so difficult now? They could have stayed together for life, but in the end, could only choose to part. She was left to find her own life, a life without him.

Old Master Zhang, having overheard their conversation, finally breathed a sigh of relief. This outcome was neither bad nor good. Perhaps in the end, it could help them cultivate trust between each other, which might ultimately be a good thing. He could finally feel at ease.
