Super Rich by Doing as You Please

In the car.

With Xu Yun’s interruption, Wanqing’s casual chat with her friend Michelle was cut short, and they quickly hung up.

The main reason was that Xu Yun’s previous question had been difficult and awkward to answer.

So they both simply pretended they hadn’t heard.

Xu Yun was only joking, so when he saw them playing dumb, he dropped the subject.

He brought Wanqing to Jiangcheng’s Nanbin Road.

It was a park road built along the river.

It seemed that every city built on a river had a road just like this one. It was always a favorite spot for locals to visit and take a stroll.

In their free time, young couples would find a riverside restaurant or bar for a date. Grabbing a meal and chatting there was considered quite chic.

Unlike Wanqing, who was from out of town, Xu Yun was naturally familiar with the area.

There were far fewer people here at noon than in the evening.

He took her to a restaurant he had occasionally visited with his ex-girlfriend, Huang Mengyao. He chose a relatively quiet table, sectioned off by a wooden lattice partition, and they sat down.

This was his first time back since they had broken up.

Of course, it wasn’t out of nostalgia. The restaurant simply had a great location and a beautiful view. On top of that, the food was excellent, making it a fantastic place to eat.

He wasn’t so petty that he would avoid a place just because he had been there with Huang Mengyao before.

Xu Yun looked at Wanqing sitting across from him.

She was dressed very casually today, giving off a fresh, innocent vibe. She wore sneakers, a pleated skirt, and a rather loose-fitting yellow knit sweater.

An autumn sunbeam streamed in from behind, casting her in a beautiful backlight.

Wanqing grew a little shy under his gaze and asked with a smile, ”Why are you looking at me like that?”

”I haven’t seen you in a while. You’ve gotten even more beautiful.”

Xu Yun said with a smile, then asked, ”So? Do you like it here?”

”I love it. The ambiance and the view are both wonderful.”

Wanqing replied, ”I wouldn’t have even known about this place if you hadn’t brought me. I’ve been so busy with my studies lately that I haven’t had any time to get out and explore.”

”I just stumbled upon it by chance myself.”

As they were talking, the restaurant’s owner walked over.

He looked at Xu Yun, who seemed familiar, and said with a smile, ”Hey there, handsome. It’s been a while.”

”Just been busy. Haven’t had the time.”

The owner asked, ”The usual three?”

”Not today.”

Xu Yun replied, ”This time, bring us one of all your house specials.”

The owner glanced at the very pretty Wanqing and understood instantly. He figured Xu Yun was flexing for the lady and said, ”Alright. Just a moment.”

After the owner left, Wanqing said, ”There are only two of us. We’ll never be able to finish all that. It’s such a waste.”

”We’ll just leave what we can’t finish.”

Xu Yun said, lost in thought for a moment, ”I used to only dare bring my ex-girlfriend here on a date when I got my bonus.

But the food here isn’t cheap, so whenever we ordered, I’d subconsciously tell her to order less, saying we shouldn’t waste food.”

Wanqing was rendered speechless.

She understood each word individually, but strung together, the sentence made no sense to her.

’No money? Poor?’

’Those were adjectives that simply could not be associated with Xu Yun!’

’Is he making up a story for me?’

’But based on our relationship, there’s no need for him to do that!’

But Xu Yun hadn’t expected Wanqing to understand or believe him. He had just been speaking on a sudden impulse.

Soon, the dishes began to arrive.

The local cuisine at this type of restaurant in Jiangcheng was primarily rustic fare, similar to that in Yu City, and defined by its spiciness.

Xu Yun suddenly remembered that he’d forgotten to ask if she could handle spicy food.

”Oh, right. Can you handle spicy food? If not, I can order a few other things for you.”

Wanqing looked at the dishes before her and shook her head. ”No, it’s fine. I should be alright. I can try it.”

”Alright. If you don’t like it, we can get something else.”

Wanqing thought she could handle it, but it turned out to be genuinely spicy.

But the flavor was truly incredible.

She was truly hooked. It was one of those dishes that was so spicy you couldn’t stop eating, yet every bite made it feel even hotter.

Seeing the fine beads of sweat on the tip of Wanqing’s nose from the spice, Xu Yun had the owner bring over some desserts and ice water.

”Have some ice water, it’ll help.”

”Oh.”

Following Xu Yun’s advice, after finishing a piece of ”Spicy Rabbit,” Wanqing grabbed the iced drink beside her and chugged a large mouthful.

”This is way too spicy!”

HISS... Wanqing sucked in a breath. ”But it tastes so good! I’m definitely coming back next time.”

”You should eat it in moderation until you’re used to it.”

”Why?”

”I’m afraid you’ll be checking into the proctology hospital frequently.”

”...”

Just then, a street performer approached their table. ”Hey, you two,” he said. ”I’m a vlogger, and I was watching you from over there for a bit. You two have amazing chemistry, you really look like a couple.

So, I was wondering if I could draw a portrait of you? It’s free, no charge.”

Xu Yun asked, ”Will it take long?”

”Nope, about half an hour.”

Xu Yun looked at Wanqing. ”What do you think?”

”I’m fine with it.”

Hearing this, Xu Yun readily agreed. ”Alright then, draw a picture of us eating.”

”You got it, handsome.”

The vlogger smiled. ”Just eat naturally. No need to hold a pose or pay any attention to me.”

”Mm.”

And they really didn’t pay him any mind.

Xu Yun and Wanqing went back to their meal, sharing their culinary interests, as well as interesting stories and beautiful sights from their travels.

Wanqing, in turn, told him about what she’d been up to since moving to the city.

Before they knew it, half an hour had flown by. They were nearly finished with their meal, and the vlogger had completed his drawing.
