Super Rich by Doing as You Please

’An adopted granddaughter is still a granddaughter!’

After comforting herself, Zhang Sujuan said with a word of caution, ”Since you’ve adopted her, it doesn’t matter who’s taking care of her now. You have to see it through to the end. You can’t just wash your hands of it.

Find some time later and bring her back for me to see. Let her meet her ’freebie’ grandma. I’ll give her a big red envelope.”

”Okay, I’ll find a time to arrange it.”

”Alright, I’m hanging up.”

Zhang Sujuan hung up the phone. Looking at the mahjong tiles in front of her, she completely lost the mood to play and said directly, ”Forget it, I’m done for today.”

Since she was the one losing, the other three players were of course happy to stop when she said she was done.

There’s an unwritten rule at the mahjong table.

Usually, unless it’s the agreed-upon end time, the winners won’t be the ones to suggest leaving if the loser doesn’t. Otherwise, no one would want to play with you in the future.

Arriving back at her doorstep, Zhang Sujuan ran into Chen Xin, who was returning from shopping.

Chen Xin called out happily, ”Auntie, how come you’re home so early today?”

”Xu Yun pulled a fast one on me. It completely ruined my mood.”

Chen Xin asked, confused, ”What did he do?”

”Come on, let’s talk in your place.”

After following Chen Xin inside, Zhang Sujuan took out her phone, found the photo Xu Yun had sent her, and showed it to her.

Chen Xin: ”Wow, this little girl is so beautiful.”

”Xu Yun said this is his daughter, Xu Xiaozhi.”

Chen Xin: ”???”

”My reaction was the same as yours.”

Zhang Sujuan smiled. ”But don’t worry, she’s not Xu Yun’s biological child. He adopted her. She’s an orphan.”

”...” Chen Xin was speechless.

Zhang Sujuan sighed. ”This son of mine, he just does whatever pops into his head. He’s not even married yet! Does he have any idea how to take care of a child? And he just goes off and adopts one.”

”So is he planning to send the little girl back for you to raise, Auntie?”

”No.”

Zhang Sujuan replied, ”He said he’s already asked a friend on Hong Kong Island to help take care of her.”

”He has friends on Hong Kong Island?”

”He probably met them on this trip.”

Zhang Sujuan said, ”I guess he adopted the little girl on Hong Kong Island, too, so he just left her with someone local.”

”I think that’s probably what happened too.”

Chen Xin smiled. ”Auntie, it looks like your hopes for a grandchild have been dashed again. I think Xu Yun did it on purpose.”

”I think so too.”

As she spoke, Zhang Sujuan suddenly looked at her and called out, ”Chen Xin~”

”Hmm???”

”You can give our Xu Family a beautiful and adorable child like that someday, right?”

”Auntie...”

Hearing this, Chen Xin’s face flushed bright red, and she lowered her head in embarrassment.

’Auntie, it’s not like I can make a baby all by myself,’ she wanted to say.

”Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”

Zhang Sujuan stood up and said, ”Go for it! Auntie believes in you! You have my full support! You can definitely win my son over!”

”Mhm, I’ll do my best.”

Chen Xin mumbled a reply, not daring to look at Zhang Sujuan’s face.

”If you really can’t manage it, just let me know. Next time Xu Yun comes back, I’ll help you knock him out.”

Zhang Sujuan continued, ”Then we can work together, one on the inside and one on the outside, and force the issue. A shotgun wedding will seal the deal, haha...”

”...” Chen Xin was speechless.

’Auntie, are you serious?’

Meanwhile, after talking with his mom, Xu Yun went to bed to catch up on some sleep.

Before falling asleep, he scrolled through his social media feed.

As if by some coordinated effort, everyone had posted a photo of a fan, with the caption: ”Someone said this was a one-of-a-kind gift in the whole world.”

”...” Xu Yun was at a loss for words.

’Looks like they found out about my mass-produced gifts.’

’This is a group protest. They’re all expressing their dissatisfaction with me!’

Then, he came across Xino’s post.

Hers was even more direct.

She had made a post visible only to him.

”Hubby, President Jiang and I have become good allies. Did you see?”

Below it was a picture of the two of them having a meal, proving she wasn’t lying.

Xu Yun was a little suspicious of this information.

’Didn’t Yan Can say they had a falling out and were about to come to blows?’

’How are they allies now?’

’Who are they teaming up against?’

’Fuck, it’s not me, is it?’

Next was Gao Wenwen’s post. It seemed she was also on vacation and had posted a photo she thought was particularly flattering.

’Judging by the location tag, she’s in Xinjiang too!’

’What a coincidence!’

Looking at the picture, Xu Yun smiled and commented below: ”This picture makes your chest look small. I suggest you re-upload.”

After scrolling through a few more posts from other people, he went to sleep.

「When he woke up again, it was already evening.」

The RV had stopped, and he was the only one left inside.

He got up and went outside, where he saw Lin Wanzhou and Anar Guli making dinner. It was almost ready.

Seeing him, Anar Guli smiled and said, ”You’re awake?”

”Yep.”

Xu Yun smiled. ”What’s for dinner tonight?”

”We’re having chicken tonight.”

”...” Xu Yun.

Seeing Xu Yun’s strange expression, Anar Guli immediately and shyly explained, ”I mean, we’re eating Big Plate Chicken tonight. It’s one of our local delicacies.”

”I know.”

Xu Yun said, ”Back in college, a lot of the upperclasswomen liked to eat this ’chicken’ too.”

”...” Anar Guli was speechless.

To change the awkward subject, she suddenly said, ”Oh, right, Brother Xu, my dad called me just now. He said his car broke down on the road again and told us not to wait for him.”

”Broke down again?”

Xu Yun said, ”His luck is terrible.”

”Yeah, really terrible luck.”

Lin Wanzhou shot a meaningful look at Xu Yun, then at Anar Guli. ’From the looks on your faces about Big Beard’s car breaking down, there’s not a shred of sympathy to be found!’

’I thought Big Beard might catch up tonight and save me. Looks like I’ll be falling asleep to ’music’ again tonight.’

After dinner, Anar Guli went to wash the dishes.

Lin Wanzhou said to Xu Yun, ”You were pretty happy to hear her dad’s car broke down, weren’t you?”

”Nonsense! I’m filled with sympathy!”

”Alright, you can drop the act.”

Lin Wanzhou said bluntly, ”Just give me a straight answer. Are you two going to be feeling up abs again tonight or not?”

”How did you know she was feeling my abs?”

Lin Wanzhou rolled his eyes at him. ”Hurry it up. I’ll leave the cabin to you two to do whatever you want. I’m going out for a smoke, and I’ll come back up to sleep after.”

”Old Lin, nothing’s going on between her and me.”

”Heh...”

”It’s true! You have to believe me!”

”Then it’s settled. When I’m done with my smoke, if you two aren’t finished yet...”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”I’ll just go sleep in the driver’s cab so I don’t disturb you.”

”No, you’ve really got it wrong.”

Watching Lin Wanzhou walk away, Xu Yun said speechlessly, ”We really just spent the whole night touching my abs!”

’If I’d actually done something, it would be one thing!’

’But I didn’t do anything, and I’m still getting blamed for it. This is so unfair!’

Anar Guli came over after washing the dishes and asked, confused, ”Where did Brother Lin go?”

”To smoke.”

Xu Yun said casually, ”Probably thinking about his old flame again.”

”...” Anar Guli was speechless.

”We don’t need to worry about him.”

Xu Yun turned and said, ”Let’s get some rest.”

”Okay.”

Xu Yun thought that after what happened last night, Anar Guli probably wouldn’t want to sleep with him tonight.

So, after she showered and got into bed, Xu Yun automatically went over to the sofa area, preparing to sleep on the couch tonight.

’I’m a perfect gentleman!’

But when Anar Guli saw this, she asked in confusion, ”Brother Xu, aren’t you sleeping with me tonight?”

”I should probably sleep on the sofa.”

”Are you afraid I’ll be like I was last night?”

Anar Guli said shyly, ”Don’t worry, Brother Xu. I’ll be good tonight. No random touching.”

”...” Xu Yun.

’Fine, fine, fine. I’ll trust you one more time!’

’If you make a move again, don’t blame me for turning the tables!’
