Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Yes, I saw. Congratulations.”

Xu Yun said, ”You don’t have anything else planned for this afternoon, do you? To celebrate you passing the audition and landing the female lead role, President Liang and I would like to take you out to lunch.”

”You two go ahead. I’ll sit this one out.”

Liang Yan shot the manager beside her a meaningful look and made an excuse, ”I have another lunch meeting, don’t I?”

”That’s right.”

The manager, understanding the situation, immediately added, ”It’s with a business contact from a short-video platform. We’re discussing advertising and distribution channels.”

”Alright then. I won’t keep you.”

Xu Yun said, ”I’ll be taking off then.”

”Take care, President Xu.”

After saying goodbye to Xu Yun, the manager turned to Wanqing before leaving. ”I’m giving you the rest of the afternoon off. Come back to the office tomorrow, and we’ll discuss the details of the female lead role for the short series.”

”Okay, thank you, Manager.” Wanqing was thrilled to hear the news.

’I’m finally going to play a female lead!’

Once Xu Yun and Wanqing had left, the manager immediately turned to Liang Yan. ”President Liang, about President Xu and Wanqing...”

”It’s exactly what you’re thinking, but...”

Liang Yan cautioned, ”We can give her some preferential treatment with resources, but only on the condition that she’s actually capable and can make money for us. Otherwise, we’ll just be keeping her around as eye candy.”

”I understand, President Liang.”

”And one more thing.”

Liang Yan stared at the manager and asked, ”Regarding the TV series production budget, is anyone embezzling funds or spending recklessly?”

”Um... I don’t think so.”

”What do you mean, you ’don’t think so’?!”

Liang Yan said firmly, ”Arrange for someone to audit all expenditures immediately. If you find anything, it needs to be dealt with, and dealt with seriously!”

”President Liang, you know how it is with filming a TV series...”

”People can take what they’re entitled to, but they’d better not take a penny more. If they have, they’re going to cough it back up!”

Liang Yan warned, ”If President Xu finds out, losing our jobs will be the least of our worries.”

The manager was left speechless.

「Meanwhile.」

Xu Yun was driving Wanqing to the restaurant.

Her best friend, Michelle, knew she had her audition today. Worried about her, she video-called the first chance she got to ask how it went.

As soon as the call connected, Michelle’s face appeared on the screen.

Xu Yun glanced over from his seat.

’She’s gotten even prettier since the last time I saw her!’

Wanqing told her the results, and Michelle was overjoyed for her.

The two chatted and giggled for a bit longer before Michelle suddenly asked, ”By the way, have you seen President Xu yet?”

”I have.”

Wanqing glanced at Xu Yun beside her and said shyly, ”I ran into him at the company today.”

”And then?”

Michelle’s face lit up with anticipation. ”Did anything happen? You didn’t pretend you didn’t know each other, did you?”

”No.”

Wanqing replied, ”He asked me to have lunch with him.”

”Haha...”

Since Xu Yun wasn’t on her end of the call, Michelle laughed with abandon. ”I don’t think President Xu wants to have lunch. I think he wants to have *you* for lunch.”

Wanqing was speechless.

”Ooh, look at you, blushing!”

Michelle snickered. ”Be honest, don’t you want to devour President Xu, too?”

”Stop talking nonsense! I do not!”

”Oh, come on, I don’t believe that for a second. You’re the classic ’quiet on the outside, wild on the inside’ type. You love to play hard to get, and you secretly like it when things start with a little bit of force.”

”Are you trying to kill me?! Stop it!” Wanqing, horrified, scrambled to shut down her friend’s wild talk.

Seeing the profound look Xu Yun was giving her, her cheeks felt hot enough to scald.

Michelle, oblivious to the situation, continued in all seriousness, ”But Wanqing, I’m being serious. I’m not kidding.

”You have the home-field advantage now, so you have to hold on tight to a big shot like President Xu. Unlike me—I don’t even have a chance to get close to him, even as your sidekick.”

”Who said that? You can if you want to.”

Xu Yun, remembering the ”double happiness” back on Hong Kong Island, suddenly laughed. ”Why don’t you fly over right now? I’ll pay for your round-trip ticket!”

”President Xu???”

Michelle froze, then asked in astonishment, ”Wanqing, was that President Xu who just spoke? Are you with him right now?”

”Yeah.”

Wanqing nodded awkwardly. ”He’s right here next to me. He heard every single thing you just said!”

Michelle’s jaw dropped.

Some things are fine to say between best friends.

But for the very subject of those fantasies to hear everything... that was mortifying.

But just then, Xu Yun decided to press the issue.

”So, are you coming or not? We can experience ’double the happiness’ together!”
