Super Rich by Doing as You Please

The grilled lamb skewers for lunch were another delicious meal.

After a two-hour meal, they set off again, with Lin Wanzhou driving.

Xu Yun and Anar Guli were in the main cabin, sitting on the sofa and leisurely drinking Carmen Coffee.

At first, Anar Guli had no idea how expensive the coffee was. After she asked about it out of curiosity, she was stunned when Lin Wanzhou chimed in.

’I can’t believe this coffee is so expensive.’

’This tiny little cup I’m holding must cost several thousand yuan.’

Suddenly, she felt self-conscious drinking it.

Xu Yun smiled and said, ”Don’t listen to his nonsense. This coffee is just a few dozen yuan a pack. He’s just joking with you.”

”Oh, that’s a relief. You scared me to death just now.”

Anar Guli playfully stuck out her tongue, looking incredibly cute.

”By the way, has your dad called you?”

Xu Yun asked, ”Where did he get to after his car was fixed? Should we slow down and wait for him?”

”He hasn’t called, but you don’t need to wait for him on purpose.”

Anar Guli replied, ”He drives extremely slowly. If he can catch up, he’ll catch up. If not, so be it.”

”Oh, alright then.”

Xu Yun turned his head to Lin Wanzhou and said, ”Old Lin, let’s just drive at a normal speed then. Eighty kilometers per hour should be fine.”

”...” Lin Wanzhou was speechless.

’You think this is a highway? Eighty? You just don’t want her dad to catch up, do you!’

Xu Yun had said his piece, but whether Lin Wanzhou listened was another matter.

Safety was the top priority in all things.

Time in the vehicle was tedious. Xu Yun and Anar Guli chatted for a little while before falling silent.

Anar Guli then dozed off on the sofa, trying to catch up on sleep.

She hadn’t slept very well the previous night either.

Xu Yun was also about to go to bed for a nap, but he soon received a message from Fu Baoying.

The little girl he’d adopted had a new name: Xu Xiaozhi.

’She even has my surname.’

He actually hadn’t insisted that the little girl share his surname.

Although she was adopted in his name, the actual adoptive parent was, in the end, Fu Baoying. Even if the little girl had taken her surname, Xu Yun wouldn’t have said a thing.

Now, looking at the picture of the little girl sleeping in her bed, he felt as if he had suddenly gained a daughter.

He told the news to Lin Wanzhou, who was driving.

After hearing it, Lin Wanzhou smiled and said, ”Xu Xiaozhi, that’s a nice name. In any case, she has the Xu surname now. When you have time in the future, you should still go to Hong Kong Island to visit her occasionally.”

”Sure. I’ll ask you to come with me when the time comes.”

Xu Yun said, ”After all, she’s a child we all adopted together, with the three of us as witnesses.”

”Alright, then from now on I’ll be her Mr. Lin, and you’ll be her Mr. Xu.”

”Get lost!”

Xu Yun retorted, ”You can be an uncle at most. Her mother is Fu Baoying, my woman. If she calls you ’Dad’, I’ll feel like I’ve been cuckolded.”

”...” Lin Wanzhou was speechless.

After finishing his banter with Lin Wanzhou, Xu Yun couldn’t resist sending the photo of Xu Xiaozhi to his mom. He added the message, ”Mom, isn’t my daughter cute?”

The photo and message were sent one second, and his mom’s call came in the next.

The first words after he answered were—

”Son, where did you kidnap this little girl from?”

”Uh, Mom.”

Xu Yun said, exasperated, ”I don’t kidnap children!”

”If you don’t kidnap children, where did this little girl come from?”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”She really is my daughter. Her name is Xu Xiaozhi.”

”!!!”

Zhang Sujuan was stunned for a few seconds. When she realized her son didn’t seem to be joking, her face lit up with joy.

She had been wanting to hold a grandchild for a long time, and she never expected her son to give her such a huge surprise.

She didn’t care who the mother was, what her story with Xu Yun was, or why she had suddenly given him such an adorable child.

As long as this little one was of the Xu Family’s bloodline, that was all that mattered!

She, Zhang Sujuan, would acknowledge her!

After taking a deep breath to compose herself, Zhang Sujuan said excitedly, ”Son, bring her back quickly! I’ll take care of her for you. Let me get a good look at my granddaughter.”

”Hahaha, I suddenly have a three-year-old granddaughter!”

”Mom, Mom, don’t get so excited yet.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”Aren’t you going to ask who her mother is?”

”Who is her mother?”

Zhang Sujuan said dismissively, ”As long as it isn’t your ex-girlfriend, Huang Mengyao!”

”Her mom got sick and passed away not long ago.”

”Ah???”

Zhang Sujuan was dumbfounded. A melodramatic soap opera plot immediately formed in her mind.

Her son’s ex-girlfriend had been deeply in love with him and got pregnant with his child. After they broke up, she kept it a secret from him, gave birth alone, and secretly raised the child until she was three.

Finally, because she got sick, she had no choice but to find her son, tell him the truth, and entrust the child to Xu Yun, the father.

”Son, don’t be too sad.”

Zhang Sujuan comforted him, ”I’ll take a car to come find you tomorrow. First, I’ll pick up the child, and second, I’ll go with you to the cemetery to see the child’s mother—my poor daughter-in-law-that-never-was.”

”Mom, that’s not what I meant.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”The little girl is adopted.”

”What? Adopted?”

As soon as Zhang Sujuan heard that, her mood instantly plummeted from the highest high.

”Yes, adopted. And even if you wanted to see her right now, you couldn’t.”

Xu Yun explained, ”She’s already gone to live in Hong Kong Island with a friend of mine, who is taking care of her for me.”

”...” Zhang Sujuan was speechless.

’So, you were just messing with your old mom for fun!’

Hearing no sound from the other end of the line, Xu Yun asked quietly, ”Mom, are you okay?”

”Okay my ass! You did this on purpose just to get a rise out of me.” It took Zhang Sujuan another long moment to accept this outcome.
