Super Rich by Doing as You Please

Cheng Yuelan smiled. ”Xino has told us so much about you. We’ve been wanting to meet you for ages, and we’re so glad we finally can. You’re a fine young man, indeed.”

”Yes, my daughter has good taste.”

Xi Huai’an also smiled. ”She’s made a very good friend!”

Xino desperately wanted to correct her father—Xu Yun was her *boyfriend*. But she was a girl, after all, and too shy to be so blunt.

’If Xu Yun wasn’t going to make it official, it wasn’t her place to bring it up first.’

”Sir, I’m her boyfriend.”

Xu Yun suddenly stated, laying his cards on the table. ”To be frank, Xino and I are already dating!”

Everyone was stunned.

Xino stared at Xu Yun in astonishment, hardly daring to believe her ears.

’What did he just say to my dad?’

’He’s my boyfriend!’

Xi Huai’an looked at Xu Yun, who had made such a sudden declaration, and tried to gauge his intentions.

’Is he forcing my hand? Demanding to know my stance on this?’

He gave Xu Yun a look, then said with a neutral expression, ”I don’t get involved in the affairs of young people. As long as the two of you are happy, that’s all that matters.”

Once Cheng Yuelan processed what had happened, her smile grew even wider. She now looked at Xu Yun as if he were already her son-in-law.

Seeing Xi Wei’s unhappy expression, Xu Yun felt a secret thrill of satisfaction.

He even deliberately provoked him, saying, ”Brother Xi, you don’t look too happy. Do you disapprove of Xino and me dating?”

”Not at all.”

Xi Wei denied it. ”I’m very happy. Ecstatic, even.”

”Ah, well, I’d understand if you disapproved. After all, I did beat you up.”

A confused silence fell over the table.

Xu Yun explained, ”Uncle, Auntie, I should apologize to you both. I ran into Brother Xi at a car dealership last time, and a misunderstanding led to some unpleasantness. In the end, Brother Xi challenged me to a one-on-one fight.”

Everyone was speechless.

Pretending to look guilty, Xu Yun continued, ”I got caught up in the heat of the moment and didn’t pull my punches. I ended up giving him a black eye. Thinking back, I feel terrible about it. I was too impulsive.”

They were all, once again, speechless.

’So *that’s* why he was walking around with a black eye and avoiding people for a few days! Xu Yun gave it to him!’

After hearing this, Xi Huai’an narrowed his eyes and shot a look at his son. ”It’s nothing,” he said. ”He’s the one who asked for the fight. If he couldn’t win, he has only himself to blame for his lack of skill. He deserved it.”

Xi Wei could only sit there in stunned silence.

”It’s fine. You’re young men; sometimes it takes a fight to get to know each other. Since it was all a misunderstanding, it’s good that everything is cleared up now.”

Cheng Yuelan also smiled, playing the peacemaker. ”Xu Yun, don’t you worry about it either. We’re all going to be family soon, so let bygones be bygones.”

”Right, it’s not like you did it on purpose. My brother isn’t that petty.”

After comforting Xu Yun, Xino turned to her older brother. ”Right, brother?”

”Right, it’s nothing.”

Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, Xi Wei forced a smile. ”I’m not bothered by it at all, so you shouldn’t worry about it either.”

”Brother Xi, you’re so magnanimous!”

Xu Yun said with a look of admiration, ”I’ve judged a gentleman by my own petty standards!”

For the rest of the meal, Xu Yun and Xi Huai’an drank one glass after another.

They finished the bottle of wine in no time.

Xi Huai’an was surprised by Xu Yun’s high tolerance for alcohol. Seeing that he wasn’t the least bit drunk, he went and grabbed another bottle.

The drinking continued.

Throughout the meal, Cheng Yuelan was incredibly warm, constantly placing food on Xu Yun’s plate. ”Have some more food,” she said caringly. ”Don’t just drink with your uncle, or you’ll get drunk.”

”Thank you, Auntie.”

As for Xino, she was incredibly moved by Xu Yun’s sudden, wonderful surprise.

Throughout the entire dinner, her eyes were fixed on Xu Yun, never once straying.

Forgetting to eat, she just sat there with a silly, happy grin, pouring wine for Xu Yun and her father.

Seeing how his father, mother, and sister were all hitting it off with Xu Yun, Xi Wei could only sit there miserably, picking at his food and sipping his juice, a gloomy expression on his face.

’Now that they have a prospective son-in-law and she has a boyfriend, they’ve completely forgotten about their own son and brother!’

At some point, Cheng Yuelan subtly began to ask about Xu Yun’s family. Xu Yun’s answers were vague, but he did reveal one key piece of information.

He came from a single-parent home. His father had passed away, and only his mother was left.

This information surprised the others at the table, and they offered their condolences. Xu Yun, however, assured them it was fine, saying it had happened a long time ago and that they shouldn’t dwell on it.

His life was good now, and so was his mother’s.

She spent her days either playing cards or doing square dancing!

Cheng Yuelan said that she would love to play mahjong with his mother sometime, and maybe even learn some square dancing to get some exercise.

After Xu Yun and Xi Huai’an had finished two bottles of wine, the dinner party came to an end.

Naturally, a housekeeper was there to clear the table; they didn’t have to lift a finger.

The group of five went to the living room and continued to chat.

As it happened, the news was on TV. A report was on about the recent reversal in the stock market, which was seeing huge gains. It seemed like everyone was making money, and more and more people were starting to blindly jump into the market.

Even the old ladies buying groceries on the street wanted to seize the opportunity, talking about selling their houses to get in on the action.

According to statistics, the trading volume for A-shares in a single hour had reached a staggering 1.3 trillion!

Xi Wei chimed in, ”A lot of foreign capital has suddenly poured into the market recently. All the stocks are soaring. It’s gotten pretty overheated.

Our group’s stock has risen quite a bit, too. Our market cap increased by over three billion.”

Xi Huai’an, who of course knew his own company’s stock had risen, turned to Xu Yun. ”Did you buy any shares beforehand?” he asked.

”No.”

”Why not? This is a great opportunity.”

”Because I’ve always believed that you can’t make money on things you don’t understand.”

Xu Yun explained casually, ”I don’t know anything about stocks, so I haven’t been paying attention.”

”Well, it’s not too late to buy some now.”

”Sir, don’t try to bait me into it.”

Xu Yun chuckled. ”I remember a great man once said that when everyone thinks they can make money in the stock market, that’s when the big players start cashing out on the little guys.

If I had bought in earlier, I’d definitely be getting ready to sell right now.”

”Hahaha! You may not understand the market, but you’re smart, and you’re not greedy.”

Xi Huai’an said, ”Actually, many people understand the principle you’re talking about. But far more are controlled by their greed. They always want to sell at the absolute peak to make the most profit, betting that the next high will be even higher, and they end up losing everything.”

”You’re right, Sir.”

Xu Yun clarified, ”It’s not that I’m not greedy, though. It’s just that I’m not short on cash, so I have a more relaxed attitude toward money right now.”

Xi Huai’an was speechless.

’This kid... he’s quite the show-off!’

Just then, Xu Yun’s phone rang. It was Fu Baoying calling.

Xi Huai’an gestured. ”You’ve got a call. Go ahead and take it, we don’t mind.”

”Excuse me for a moment, then.”

Xu Yun answered the phone, walked to the side, and asked, ”President Fu, what’s up?”

”Yes, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Fu Baoying said, ”Have you been paying attention to the stock market these past few days?”

”I just saw a bit about it. What’s going on?”

”A few days ago, I used all the money you gave me to buy stocks.”

Xu Yun: ”???”

’Holy crap, she threw all five billion of my money into the stock market just like that?’

’Even the richest man in the country wouldn’t dare to make a play like that.’

’This Fu Baoying... she’s got some serious guts!’

”And right now, the unrealized gains are a little over thirty percent.”

Fu Baoying took a deep breath. ”In other words, as of right now, I’ve made you a profit of over 1.6 billion.”

Xu Yun was speechless.

’Good thing the system gave me that money. If I’d earned it bit by bit myself, a loss like that would have killed me!’

’And now, on top of it all, I’d made this much profit.’

Xu Yun suddenly realized something. ’Even with my system, the money I’ve made over the last few months doesn’t even come close to what Fu Baoying just made me in a single move!’

’As expected, once you find the right path, the speed at which money makes money is even more terrifying than my system!’

’No wonder those domestic tycoons and financial groups had market caps in the hundreds of billions.’

’This was a classic case of a happy accident, wasn’t it?’

’Just like that, I’ve made 1.6 billion!’

’It was a complete and utter windfall.’

On the other end of the line, Fu Baoying noticed his long silence. ”Hello? Xu Yun, are you there?”
