This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

At this moment, there was a major traffic jam in the middle of the street. All around, there were faintly glowing headlights and a sea of blood-red taillights.

Some people were already accustomed to traffic jams in Jinzhou, so they weren’t in a rush to get somewhere. They just sat inside the car, listening to music, feeling the breeze, slowly moving along with the flow of traffic.

But there were those who needed to hurry to deal with things or were impatient, like they were ready to be reborn in the next second. These people were incessantly honking, causing people’s ears to hurt and hearts to panic, making the police directing traffic at the intersection step forward to vent their already annoyed mood.

Whether it’s the improvement of Jinzhou people’s civility or the presence of police, whenever an ”Eeyo Eeyo” ambulance with flashing lights passed, they would do their best to make a way for the ambulance to travel.

When Gong Daoyang and the others delivered the child to the hospital entrance, Li Jianwei and others were already waiting early at the hospital’s front gate.

As soon as the vehicle stopped, the child was hurriedly transferred out of the ambulance.

”The child shows signs of dehydration, has a high fever of 40 degrees, and is experiencing respiratory failure. There are dark red papules on the skin’s surface, and it’s unclear whether it’s eczema or measles.”

As soon as he stepped out of the ambulance, Yu Haiting began to inform them of the child’s specific condition, also disclosing the medications he had just administered and some treatment methods.

Everyone present didn’t have time to speak; they just hugged the child and rushed directly into the building.

Twenty minutes after entering the emergency room, the directors of the hospital’s dermatology department, hematology department, respiratory department, and pediatrics department came running hurriedly from outside and rushed into the emergency room.

Inside the emergency room, Li Jianwei was squeezed to the back, but he didn’t care at all.

Because he knew that his role at this time was minimal.

At this moment, he was just listening to the directors discussing the child’s condition and keeping timely communication with Du Heng.

”Xiao Heng, don’t worry. All the hospital directors are here now, discussing the child’s treatment. Drive slowly and be careful.”

Li Jianwei detected Du Heng’s anxiety and tension over the phone, repeatedly reminding him to be cautious and not let panic cause an accident.

But such anxiety and tension are not something that can be calmed by a few comforting words from Li Jianwei.

Especially when looking at the motionless red long queue ahead, and the continuous piercing honking around him, making the anxious Du Heng even more agitated and uneasy.

Luckily, he wasn’t the one driving today.

Because sitting in the passenger seat, his hands and feet began trembling uncontrollably.

He struggled to force himself to calm down, not to panic or become disoriented. ”Teacher, what’s the situation with the child now?”

Li Jianwei knew that talking about the child’s condition at this time might be upsetting for Du Heng, but he also understood Du Heng’s proficiency and more importantly recognized the emotions of a father.

So he didn’t hesitate to say, ”There’s a dehydration issue with the child, but it’s not a big problem; they’ve already started IV fluids.

But the child is also experiencing breathing difficulties with a persistently high fever.

Although some tests haven’t come back yet, the directors have reached a preliminary conclusion that the child might have eczema.

During these days when eczema appeared, the child’s treatment was delayed with unsanitary care, coupled with the cloudy and rainy weather, causing the eczema to turn severe.

Maybe... maybe the virus has already invaded the bloodstream, resulting in contamination.”

Eczema itself is not a major issue.

But severe eczema is problematic, as this means the skin rash toxin hasn’t been excreted, instead it’s being trapped within the body.

If this goes on, even an adult might not withstand it, let alone a two-month-old baby.

Du Heng’s mind suddenly went blank, wanting to ask something further, but his mouth opened and closed without words, unsure of what to ask.

At this moment, Li Jianwei continued, ”Don’t panic, although the child’s condition is urgent, the directors have already started medication.”

With a moment of reprieve, Du Heng gathered himself together, took a deep breath and said, ”Teacher, please keep an eye on things for me, I’m almost there.”

”Okay, be careful on the road, I’m here.”

Li Jianwei agreed and hung up the phone, immediately joining the discussion with others again.

Looking at the slow-moving traffic, Du Heng became even more anxious, ”Buwei, drive slowly, I’m going to run over there.”

Wu Buwei, who was driving, could certainly see Du Heng’s urgency, just as he was about to agree, he noticed the taillights ahead were thinning.

He promptly stopped Du Heng with the car door open, ”Master brother, don’t worry, the road’s cleared, it’s cleared.”

Wu Buwei drove at his fastest speed to the hospital entrance, and Du Heng didn’t wait for the car to come to a full stop before hastily getting out.

Meanwhile, a police car with its siren blaring also stopped beside Du Heng, and Wu Shengnan jumped out from the passenger seat, nearly stumbling to the ground.

Recognizing the person, Du Heng hurriedly stopped and took a step, catching the staggering Wu Shengnan, ”Are you alright?”

Wu Shengnan shook her head and stared intently at Du Heng, asking, ”Where’s the baby?”

”Inside, my teacher and other directors are there, don’t worry.” Seeing his wife, Du Heng forced himself to remain calm again.

Especially looking at Wu Shengnan’s disheveled hair and haggard face, he even managed to squeeze out a smile, ”Rest assured, the teacher said the child is okay.”

Wu Shengnan gently hummed a response, said no more, and tried to make her way inside with all her strength.

Du Heng knew the Provincial First Hospital well, he directly led Wu Shengnan to the emergency room entrance.

And at the emergency room entrance, Du Heng saw many familiar faces.

No need to think, they were all here after hearing the news to visit the child.

Du Heng took a deep breath at the emergency room door, then directly pushed the door open.

But just a few seconds after entering, he was pushed out by Li Jianwei, ”Listen, come back out with me, trust all the experts inside.”

Du Heng resisted, but after days of no rest and barely eating or drinking, his body was indeed weak and couldn’t withstand Li Jianwei’s pushing.

Retreating, Du Heng said, ”Teacher, let me in. You know my abilities.”

But Li Jianwei did not relent, still pushing Du Heng outward, ”I know, but self-medication isn’t right, have you forgotten this?

Also, do you think you can perform in your current state?”

”Then I’ll just stay on the side and watch, I won’t speak, is that okay?”

”Nonsense, watching doesn’t help. Can you guarantee not to interrupt or disturb others’ treatment?”

Li Jianwei spoke harsh words, but then softened his tone saying, ”The child has already been medicated, the condition hasn’t worsened further, you can rest assured waiting outside.

Also, look outside, your big brother, sister-in-law, and your wife all need you to comfort them.”

With these words, Du Heng was escorted out of the emergency room.

Only then did he see that, in less than a minute, his big brother and sister-in-law, along with Du Xuejing had arrived.

And nearby, he noticed his father-in-law, mother-in-law, and others hurriedly arriving.

The emergency room door closed behind them, everyone cautiously gathered around, showing hesitation to speak.

Du Heng had no mood for words, he just forced a smile and held Wu Shengnan’s hand, watching the emergency room door quietly.

Silence, an enduring silence.

Even when his father-in-law spoke to him, he wasn’t in the mood for conversation.

Right now, his entire heart was inside the emergency room.

Waiting like this until two o’clock in the morning, all the relatives had left, leaving only Du Heng and Wu Shengnan’s family.

Suddenly, the tightly closed double doors swung open, and handed to Du Heng was a ’Critical Illness Notification’.
