This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Someone with skill but no ethics—that’s exactly him.

Most importantly, he and that Director Luo studied under the same Teacher; they’re traditional Chinese medicine practitioners from the same faction.

It’s just that now, one has gone into politics, and the other is still in this line of work, harming people.

This is precisely why Du Heng and that bunch of them can never end up in the same camp and will always be at each other’s throats.

When Du Heng prescribes medicine for people, he’ll prescribe as little as he can, and if he can avoid prescribing expensive medicine, he avoids it. But look at this list—he’s prescribed as much as he possibly can, and taken every chance to prescribe the most expensive medicine he can.

These are two completely different ways of doing things at the most fundamental level; there’s no way they could ever get along.

And precisely because of this, that rhinoceros horn from a couple of days ago, as long as it was still within a reasonable price range, there was no way Du Heng would hand it over to them.

Right now the market price for asian rhino horn is from 4000 yuan per gram and up, and at most it’s 7000-8000 yuan as the cap.

But if this stuff falls into their hands, Du Heng has every reason to believe they’ll sell it at over tens of thousands yuan per gram, and that would be nothing unusual at all.

After asking who wrote the prescription, Du Heng didn’t say anything more. Instead, he picked up again the Check-up Materials the Patient had handed him and slowly leafed through them.

Once he had finished reading everything, Du Heng shifted his gaze to the Patient.

The Patient, however, was made a bit jittery by Du Heng’s look, thinking she had some incurable disease. Her whole body was trembling slightly as she spoke, ”Doctor, do you think my condition can still be saved?”

Du Heng smiled softly. ”This isn’t some serious illness; what’s there to ’save’ or not to ’save’?”

Hearing that, the Patient let out a small sigh of relief, then hurriedly asked, ”doctor, what exactly is wrong with me? Are my bones damaged?”

Du gently shook his head and said slowly, ”Your problem doesn’t have much to do with bone. Come, look at this.” As he spoke, Du Heng picked up the imaging Materials the Patient had provided.

He then pointed at a dark shadow on the image and said, ”Here, look carefully. Do you know what this is?”

The Patient followed Du Heng’s finger and glanced at the image, then shook her head in confusion.

Du Heng lightly tapped twice on the dark area with his finger and said slowly, ”This dark area you’re seeing is the Muscle component of your body.

Now, look over here: these bright white areas—do you know what they are?”

The Patient again shook her head in puzzlement.

”This,” Du Heng said, his tone light and with a hint of teasing, ”this is the belly on your body. Now look again at this film: on here, is there more of the dark area, or more of these bright white areas?”

Yet this relaxed tone was exactly what allowed the previously tense Patient to loosen up for a moment; she wasn’t as nervous and scared as she had been at the beginning.

Now that she knew what the two different colors represented, the Patient began to examine her own film carefully.

It was only then that She realized that, across the entire film, the white area took up a far greater proportion than the black area.

But although she could make out the film, the Patient still didn’t understand what this meant. Full of doubt, she asked Du Heng, ”doctor, what does this have to do with my lower back pain?”

”Relation? The relation is huge.” Du Heng put down the film, looked at the Patient with an easy expression, and said, ”In our everyday life, what do we mostly use? Muscle.

Muscle is the part of the body that bears and generates force. The stronger a person’s Muscle tissue, the better their capacity for work, and the stronger their ability to bear load.”

Du Heng gave the Patient in front of him a once-over, then continued, ”But a person’s body can’t be made of only Muscle; it also has another type of tissue called fat.

As for fat, you can’t really say it’s useless; it actually has a big role. For example, when a person is ill or needs intense energy expenditure, the more fat your body has, the longer you can hold out.

That way, you won’t collapse just because of a sudden bout of exertion that your body can’t handle.

But at the same time, when a person’s body is in a healthy state, too much fat instead becomes a burden.

It not only doesn’t help you share the body’s workload, it actually turns into a burden on your body.”

With that, Du Heng stood up, walked directly behind the Patient, and put both hands on her waist, beginning to press.

”Let me ask you: when your waist hurts, is it right at the two spots I’m pressing now?”

Hearing this, the Patient hurriedly nodded. ”Yes, yes, doctor, it’s exactly where you’re pressing.

Ah, every time I bend over to do just a bit of work, in under two minutes it feels like it’s about to snap—sore, swollen, and numb.

If I ever lift something heavy or do a bit more heavy work, my back will hurt for four or five days; sometimes it hurts so much I can’t sit or lie down.

Doctor, why is that?”

Pulling his hands back, Du Heng curled his lips helplessly. So all that talking just now had been for nothing.

But since the Patient had asked, he could only explain again, ”The reason is simple: there’s no Muscle on your waist, it’s all fat, so it doesn’t bear any load.

Let me ask you another question: have you been without a job for more than ten years? And you don’t do any housework at home either, do you?”
