This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

So the Western medicine’s check-up results were wrong?

This thought had just emerged, and Du Heng immediately shook his head.

The patient has already explained that he had undergone examinations in four or five local hospitals, and all the results were the same.

It’s possible for one or two to be wrong, which is normal, but saying that four or five are all wrong is completely impossible.

Moreover, Du Heng had also reviewed the names on the materials; they were all from some very famous Grade 3A hospitals locally, which couldn’t possibly all make such low-level mistakes simultaneously.

The crucial point is, Du Heng also looked at those imaging materials just now and didn’t find anything problematic there himself.

So, where does the issue lie?

Du Heng fell silent directly.

Director Wu, who hadn’t spoken all along, gently asked, ”Deputy Director Du, what do you think?”

Du Heng hesitated a little; he didn’t rush to answer Director Wu’s query but looked at the patient and asked, ”At your local hospital or with your doctors, did they ever provide you with any other conclusions?”

The woman slowly shook her head, ”No, at first, they told me it was breast inflammation.

After treating me twice, they then told me it was granulomatous mastitis.

I went to several places and consulted many experts, and they all told me it was granulomatous mastitis; no one mentioned I had any other illness.”

Du Heng gently nodded, then looked at the patient and said, ”Alright, please wait outside for a moment; I want to discuss something with Director Wu.”

Upon hearing Du Heng’s words, the patient couldn’t help but look at Du Heng twice but obediently walked out.

Watching the patient leave, Director Wu gently furrowed his brows, ”Xiao Du, what’s going on?”

Du Heng intently said, ”Director, I suspect it might be cancer.”

However, Director Wu directly shook his head, dismissing it, ”Impossible, the patient has taken so many scans, and none show signs of cancer.

If it were a mistake, it couldn’t be that everyone made an error.”

Du Heng remained silent as the situation described by Director Wu was exactly where the contradiction lay in this matter.

From his own examination, Du Heng could confirm that the patient had stagnation internally and severe depletion of original qi, which, according to modern medicine’s theory, are characteristics of cancer.

However, the problem now is that the B-ultrasound and nuclear magnetic inspection results did not support this; looking at the scans, there were no indications of cancer evident for the patient.

After a slight pause of silence, I said to Director Wu, ”Director, why don’t we invite an expert from the General Surgery Department for a consultation?”

Director Wu looked at Du Heng in amazement; this was the first time since knowing Du Heng that Du Heng proactively invited others over for a consultation.

Recalling Du Heng’s previous anecdotes, Director Wu felt a sudden chill in his heart, suspecting that things might not be as simple as he thought.

Then he nodded slightly and said, ”Alright, I’ll call General Surgery.”

The people from General Surgery came quickly; it was an old man who appeared to be over 70 years old and was supported by someone.

He was very thin but very spirited; however, Du Heng did not recognize him.

Seeing the arrival, Director Wu quickly stood up, greeting respectfully, ”Sir Huang, why did you come over?”

Sir Huang, being supported, chuckled lightly, ”No one was available in the department; they’ve either gone for surgeries or outpatient services. If I sent you a young man, you might not be happy about it, so I decided to come myself.

Alright, since we’re all among ourselves here, no need for empty talk; show me the stuff now.”

Upon hearing Sir Huang’s words, Director Wu hastily placed the materials on the table in front of Sir Huang, then started a soft briefing of the patient’s condition.

While Sir Huang carefully reviewed the materials in hand, he also listened thoughtfully to Director Wu’s briefing, and when Director Wu finished speaking, Sir Huang slightly furrowed his brows.

”What’s your conclusion?” Sir Huang asked softly.

Director Wu responded earnestly, ”I am a bit uncertain about the patient’s specific condition, so I had our Director Du come over to take a look.

After examining, our Director Du concluded that the patient might have cancer.”

”Oh?” Sir Huang’s face suddenly bore some surprise, his gaze circling Du Heng on turning, ”Director Du? Just this young man here?”

Director Wu quickly nodded, followed by a detailed introduction of Du Heng.

A grin spread across Sir Huang’s face as he nodded at Du Heng, saying, ”Du Heng, Director Du, I know you; you are quite remarkable, young man.”

Du Heng also smiled, promptly responding, ”Thank you, Sir Huang, for the compliment.”

Sir Huang didn’t exchange many pleasantries, instead directly asking Du Heng, ”Then, Deputy Director Du, tell me, from where did you discern the patient might be having cancer?”

Listening to Sir Huang’s inquiry, Du Heng prepared to answer, but before he could vocalize his thoughts, Sir Huang lightly shook his head.

Then, smiling, he said, ”Look at me, being forgetful, Director Wu and Deputy Director Du, you two are traditional Chinese medicine, while I am purely Western medicine; even if you spoke, I wouldn’t understand.”

This left Du Heng awkwardly closing his mouth, looking somewhat flustered, unsure of what to say next.

However, Sir Huang didn’t mind and continued slowly, ”To the ear, it is illusory; seeing is believing, why don’t you call the patient back? Let me take a look and form a judgment.”

This time not waiting for Director Wu to rise, Du Heng proactively walked to the door and beckoned forth the patient who had just stepped out.

Upon the patient’s return, Du Heng explained the current situation and informed her of the need to redo the prior examination.

Expectedly, the patient might show impatience, yet her reaction was quite surprising.

She appeared somewhat numb, as if indifferent to revealing her body a few more times. She simplifies complied with Sir Huang’s requests by making corresponding movements.

After Sir Huang had seen the focal position clearly and conducted a detailed examination, he unfolded the same expression as Du Heng, his entire demeanor becoming exceedingly grave.

The elderly didn’t delve into too many formalities, and turned directly to Director Wu and Du Heng saying, ”I somewhat agree with Xiao Du’s view.”

A soft sentence made the patient appear puzzled, but to Director Wu and Du Heng, their demeanor became even more somber.

Director Wu hesitated slightly; now, having obtained confirmations from both Du Heng and Sir Huang, this conclusion was reasonably definitive.

Then Director Wu’s gaze silently shifted toward Du Heng.

Upon seeing Director Wu’s gaze, Du Heng lightly shook his head.

Seeing Du Heng shake his head, Director Wu once again looked toward Sir Huang, ”Sir Huang, would you consider accepting this patient?”

Sir Huang contemplated briefly, then replied, ”Alright, I’ll take the patient.”

Receiving Sir Huang’s affirmative reply, Director Wu then looked at the patient and conveyed the diagnosis opinion given by the two.

As soon as the patient registered the word cancer, her face turned abruptly pallid, and her overall vitality sharply plummeted.

After seeing off Sir Huang and the patient, Director Wu watched Du Heng and asked, ”Director Du, were you unsure about treating the patient?”

Du Heng gently shook his head, somewhat doubtfully saying, ”It could be managed, although it’d be a bit troublesome, there’s a way.”

Director Hu over here widened his eyes further, ”Then why did I see you shaking your head earlier? I thought you couldn’t treat her.”

Du Heng was also dumbfounded, ”Was that the interpretation then? I thought you were asking if I had anything more to say.”

After Du Heng finished speaking, Director Wu was equally taken aback.

There seemed to be no tacit understanding between the two.

But now that matters had come to this point, the individual had been gathered by Sir Huang, leaving the two simply staring blankly at each other.

What kind of situation is this!

Thus, Du Heng returned to the office and commenced busying about his own affairs.

By the afternoon of the third day, Director Wu abruptly reached out to Du Heng saying, ”Xiao Du, do you remember the patient from three days ago?”

Du Heng nodded, ”I remember, what’s up? Something happened?”

Director Wu promptly said, ”The patient is scheduled for surgery in the afternoon; Sir Huang invited you over for a look, would you like to go?”
