This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Only after getting Du Heng’s guarantee did Du Xuejing turn around in a mock-serious way, put on a haughty face and say, ”Fine, seeing how sincere you are, Little Uncle, I’ll reluctantly agree.”

With that, Du Xuejing walked to the opposite side of Du Heng’s desk, pulled out a chair and took out her Mobile phone. ”Alright, Little Uncle, you don’t need to管me anymore, you get back to your own Things.”

Du Heng glanced at Du Xuejing with a trace of helplessness, feeling like he had fallen right into a pit his Niece had dug for him.

Of course, Du Heng didn’t really mind. If he didn’t dote on his own Niece, who else was she supposed to count on?

Du Xuejing was just talking tough and didn’t really go all out to blackmail him. Other than getting herself a fairly expensive lipstick, she didn’t make any other excessive demands.

Instead, it was Du Heng himself who couldn’t stand it and, from head to toe, bought this Girl a full outfit, and then also bought a set of cosmetics for Wu Shengnan back home, and another set for his Sister-in-law, to take back as gifts.

Zhang Sumei was especially happy knowing her daughter was coming back.

But looking at the Child that Wu Shengnan placed into her arms, she felt so stifled she couldn’t get a word out.

It wasn’t that she was unwilling to look after the Child, nor that she couldn’t stand seeing Wu Shengnan hand the Child to her and then go out; what she couldn’t stand was that Wu Shengnan, just a few days out of confinement, was about to start rushing around with her job again.

”Nannan, how about you wait a bit longer before going back to your job, okay?” Looking at the sleeping Du Wangyou in her arms, Zhang Sumei still couldn’t help persuading her; she truly felt distressed for Wu Shengnan.

Wu Shengnan looked a little embarrassed. She glanced at the Child and said helplessly, ”Sister-in-law, it’s not like I want to go either, but the team called and said they’re really short-handed now. There’s nothing I can do, I can only go help out for a few days.”

With Wu Shengnan putting it that way, what else could Zhang Sumei say? She could only sigh softly and remind her, ”I don’t really understand your job, and since you insist on going, then go.

But you have to be careful yourself. You’ve only just come out of confinement, your body hasn’t recovered yet, don’t overwork yourself.

And also, remember to come back early in the evening.”

Wu Shengnan answered softly, then kissed the Child and left the house.

For the first few days, Wu Shengnan did do exactly as Zhang Sumei had told her, going to and from work on a normal schedule. Every evening she still had time to spend a little while with the Child.

But after a few days, the time Wu Shengnan got off in the evening got later and later. Eventually, she even had to work overtime at night and sometimes wouldn’t come back all night.

In this situation, Zhang Sumei was actually quite angry, but when she saw Wu Shengnan come in the next morning looking exhausted, she felt so sorry for her she couldn’t bring herself to say anything.

It wasn’t easy for her to say much to Wu Shengnan, but she could talk to Du Heng. When she really couldn’t hold it in anymore, she directly called Du Heng. ”Xiao Heng, give your Wife a call and talk some sense into her. She’s only been out of confinement for how many days and she’s already working like she doesn’t want her body anymore?”

Du Heng was baffled, put down the job he was busy with, and quickly asked, ”Sister-in-law, what happened?”

In a vexed tone, Zhang Sumei said, ”What kind of Husband are you? It’s been so long and you haven’t called to ask what your Wife’s been up to?”

Du Heng let out a wry laugh. ”Sister-in-law, you’re really wronging me here. We talk on the phone every day.

But every time she says the Child needs to nurse, or that she’s got Things at hand, and she hangs up after just a couple of sentences. I honestly didn’t know what she’s been doing these days.”

Hearing that, Zhang Sumei almost laughed from anger. ”So whatever she says, you just take it as it is? You didn’t even say, ’Let me see the Child, see if the Child is with her’?”

Du Heng gave another bitter smile. ”I did. I said I wanted to see the Child, but she said I was being矫情, and before we’d even said a few words, she hung up the phone.”

Listening to her Little Uncle sounding a bit scared of his Wife, Zhang Sumei was utterly speechless.

She then told him everything that had been going on with Wu Shengnan over the past few days. ”That’s how Things are. You should talk to your Wife. Her body is her own; tell her to take it easy.

If she really ends up with some Root of illness, never mind anything else, she’ll be the one to suffer.”

Now that he knew what Wu Shengnan had been doing, Du Heng really didn’t know what to say.

He knew she liked this job of hers. But liking it so much that she’d go back to work right after confinement—that he hadn’t expected.

”Alright, Sister-in-law, I got it. I’ll call her in a bit.”

Du Heng agreed very readily.

After hanging up, Du Heng went back to sorting through the Materials of the Patients under his care.

The day after tomorrow they would set off, officially starting a two-month lecture tour. Over these two months, he needed to make proper arrangements for all his current Patients.

Once all the disease records were organized, Du Heng called Cao Binghe in and started going over Things with him one-on-one.

By the time he finished all this, it was already well past quitting time.

He stretched lazily and said to Cao Binghe in front of him, ”Let’s go, it’s already off work. I’ll treat you to a Meal. I’ll have to麻烦you during this period.”

But Cao Binghe just smiled lightly, glanced behind Du Heng, and said, ”Nevermind, we’ll go after you come back.”
