This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

For her sake, I ended up getting someone injured and had to compensate them. And look at you, getting all cozy with them again. It’s like I’m just playing the fool with myself.

Moreover, after extorting so much money from me and with so much time passed, this woman didn’t let out a single word, yet always accompanied me to visit the man. It’s like she’s treating me as a joke.

Thinking back on this, Kang Zhirong felt like he just wanted to find a hole to crawl into. It was so damn embarrassing.

Now, upon hearing Xie Kaiyao wanting to speak again, Kang Zhirong didn’t even want to listen. He turned without a glance and said, ”You don’t need to come to work from tomorrow. I will transfer your salary to your salary card on time.”

After speaking, Kang Zhirong left the hospital without looking back.

As for the aggrieved and tearful Xie Kaiyao left behind, he didn’t care who would take care of her.

Now that things were resolved, it was naturally necessary to inform those who cared about him, so after getting back to the car, Kang Zhirong immediately called his girlfriend.

At first, his girlfriend scolded him, but then she expressed concern and comforted him, which further deepened Kang Zhirong’s feelings of guilt towards her.

After hanging up the call, he wanted to call Du Heng, but picking up the mobile phone, he didn’t have the courage to dial the number.

After thinking it over, he felt it would be better to first find Wu Shengnan, as he needed to thank her in person. After all, it was thanks to her help that he managed to get out of trouble.

He bought some toys for the child and a set of cosmetics for Wu Shengnan. Without calling, he drove straight to her house.

Unfortunately, no one was home at Wu Shengnan’s place.

However, Kang Zhirong knew that when Wu Shengnan was home alone, she would often go upstairs to her big brother’s house, so he went directly upstairs.

No one there, still no one.

With no other choice, Kang Zhirong could only make a phone call.

But even though the call went through, no one answered. Kang Zhirong thought for a moment and then drove to the pharmacy.

At the pharmacy, he saw Zhang Sumei calculating wages for an employee, while the other two were playing with a child, but there was no sign of Wu Shengnan.

Zhang Sumei hadn’t noticed Kang Zhirong at the door, fully focused on calculating wages. After finishing with everyone else, she called Wu Zhou to her side, ”Zhouzhou, this is how we do it at our store: at the beginning of every month, we pay last month’s wages.

You came last month on the twentieth, so I’ll calculate it as half a month’s work for you. This is two thousand yuan; count it, will you?”

Wu Zhou appeared a bit touched and, without counting the money, repeatedly expressed his gratitude.

Zhang Sumei quickly stopped Wu Zhou, ”No need to thank me, this is what you deserve, girl.

You know a lot, you’re passionate in your service, and you answer every question the customers have. Plus, you’ve got that spark in your eye. I’ve seen it all,”

Wu Zhou, a bit moved, said excitedly, ”Sister-in-law, I should be the one thanking you for taking me in. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what I’d be doing now.”

”No need to say that, just work well here with your Sister-in-law,”

”Thank you, Sister-in-law. You and your family are good people.”

Zhang Sumei smiled a little, ”Don’t overthink it. Just work hard, earn money, and take care of your parents. We just go on with our own lives, don’t mind others.”

Wu Zhou gave a firm nod, and after carefully putting away his salary, he enthusiastically returned to work.

It was only then that Zhang Sumei noticed Kang Zhirong at the door, ”Xiao Kang, what brings you here?”

Kang Zhirong placed the items he held down beside Zhang Sumei and cheerfully said, ”I came to see the child.”

Seeing what Kang Zhirong had put down, Zhang Sumei immediately laughed, ”You’re here for Nannan, right?”

Having his intentions revealed, Kang Zhirong wasn’t embarrassed. He chuckled and said, ”Yes, I need to talk to Nannan’s sister-in-law.

But I went to her house and couldn’t find her; she didn’t answer her phone either.”

Zhang Sumei said with some annoyance, ”It’s not just you, even the child hasn’t seen her mom for two days.

I don’t know how busy her work is, but she’s too busy to even see her child.

Look, I’m the one taking care of the child now.”

Alright then, Kang Zhirong was at a loss for words, completely unable to respond to Zhang Sumei.

His eyes darted around before he changed the subject, ”By the way, where’s my big brother? You’re here with the child and handling payroll; isn’t that too inconvenient?”

Zhang Sumei had already picked up the child and, looking at the baby who had already closed its eyes and fallen asleep, sighed helplessly, ”An old man died in the village, so your big brother went back to help.”

Kang Zhirong softly murmured an ’oh’.

For village matters, you could find an excuse to skip a celebration, but for a funeral, it’s a must-attend. Not only are you helping others, but you’re also building goodwill for your own family.

Glancing at the child asleep in Zhang Sumei’s arms, Kang Zhirong suggested, ”Sister-in-law, if you’ve finished here, I can take you home.”

Zhang Sumei didn’t hesitate and nodded in agreement.

But before reaching the door, Zhang Sumei’s phone rang.

Hearing her phone ringing in her pocket, Zhang Sumei had to sit back down, and after settling the child in her arms, she pulled out her mobile phone and answered the call.

As soon as the call connected, a clear panic appeared on Zhang Sumei’s face. When she spoke, her voice even trembled a bit, ”Is everyone okay?... Okay, okay, we’re on our way.”

Seeing Zhang Sumei’s anxious face, Kang Zhirong felt a sudden leap in his heart. Once she hung up the phone, he immediately asked, ”Sister-in-law, what happened?”

Zhang Sumei’s hand, holding the child, shook a bit; her voice was slightly trembling as well, ”When your big brother and the others were transporting the coffin to the grave, the tricycle carrying it overturned midway, taking your big brother down with it.”

It overturned?

Where did it overturn?

Kang Zhirong’s heart thudded hard.

He knew about Du Heng’s hometown, located on the southern end of Jinzhou city district, an area full of layers upon layers of yellow dirt hills.

To say those mountains are sheer wouldn’t be accurate. Most are rather steep slopes, and especially at the bottom, there are deep gullies carved by floods.

If it flipped onto the farmland, as long as you’re not crushed by the vehicle, then it’s not too bad. At most, you just get some scrapes.

But if it tumbled into a ditch, then...

”Sister-in-law, where is everyone now? I’ll drive you there.” Without further delay, Kang Zhirong quickly made his plan known.

At that moment, a bit flustered, Zhang Sumei stood up immediately upon hearing Kang Zhirong’s words, ready to leave.

Seeing her movements, Kang Zhirong quickly reminded, ”Sister-in-law, the child, you’re holding the child.”

This reminder left Zhang Sumei hesitant. Should she really take the child to the hospital?

Since they didn’t know Du Ping’s condition, would she be taking care of the child or tending to Du Ping?

Call Wu Shengnan!

Zhang Sumei immediately made up her mind.

But before she could take out her phone, Wu Zhou, who had been attentively watching, swiftly approached, ”Sister-in-law, leave the child in the store. The three of us are here, and both Min and Hong have children; they’ll surely take good care of the child.

You should just hurry and check on the boss. This can’t be delayed.”

This idea immediately made Zhang Sumei hesitant, yet it was the best solution for now since Wu Shengnan might not be able to come over right away.

Wu Zhou urged once more, ”Sister-in-law, please go check on the boss.”

Looking at the child in her arms, Zhang Sumei couldn’t think of a better solution, so she carefully handed the child to the employee named Min beside her, ”Please help look after the child. I’ll call the child’s mother now to come pick them up immediately.”

”Boss’s wife, don’t dawdle, go see the boss. We’re here, you rest assured.”

Taking the child, Min also urged Zhang Sumei to go check the situation.
