This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

After speaking, Cao Binghe stood up, took his things, and walked out.

Du Heng was a bit puzzled and looked back, only to suddenly realize that Gu Qinghong was actually standing at the entrance of his office.

Du Heng furrowed his brows slightly but then immediately relaxed them, ”When did you arrive, and why didn’t you notify me? Is something up?”

Gu Qinghong walked into the office with light steps and replied irrelevantly, ”Are you finished with your work here?”

Du Heng glanced at the already shut-down computer and the tidy desk and could only say, ”I’m done, just about ready to leave for the day.”

”You don’t have any plans for the evening, right? Let me treat you to dinner,” Gu Qinghong stated his purpose.

Upon hearing Gu Qinghong’s invitation, Du Heng still felt unwilling.

Why is it a dinner invitation again?

”Oh my, this makes me feel a bit embarrassed. I’m heading out of town tomorrow, so I need to go back tonight to pack a few things. If there’s nothing urgent, how about we meet up when I get back?”

Ordinarily, this would count as a fairly clear rejection, and Gu Qinghong shouldn’t push the matter further.

Yet, after a brief hesitation, Gu Qinghong said, ”Du, tonight I’m not treating you to dinner; someone wants to meet you through me.”

”How about it? Give me some face; I’ve already promised them.”

Hearing this, Du Heng felt a bit embarrassed to refuse.

Thinking about it, it’s just a meal, and he could make a new acquaintance, so he agreed to go.

The friend introduced by Gu Qinghong was a middle-aged man with a big belly.

Though it was their first meeting and the middle-aged man greeted him with a smile, for some reason, Du Heng felt a strong aversion to him from the bottom of his heart.

Introducing new friends through someone, there must be a purpose.

Since he himself is a doctor and was introduced by Gu Qinghong, Du Heng assumed the man might want him to see a patient in his family or friends.

Seeing that the meal was almost finished and the man hadn’t brought up anything, Du Heng, not one to owe people favors, straightforwardly said, ”Mr. Wang, now that we’ve had this meal, we know each other. Is there something you’d like to say?”

Du Heng had been very direct, but Mr. Wang just smiled gently, ”Doctor Du, you’re overthinking. I just admire your style and wanted to get to know you, that’s all.”

No point in saying anything.

Having come to the dinner was already giving face to Gu Qinghong; there was no need to stick around awkwardly.

Thinking of this, Du Heng gently pushed back his chair and stood up, ”Thank you, Mr. Wang, for your hospitality today.

I’m going on a business trip in a few days, for about two months. When I come back, I’ll treat Mr. Wang to dinner.

Let’s leave it at that for today; I need to go pack my things, so I’ll head off first.”

Having said that, Du Heng turned to leave.

Despite saying it was nothing, Mr. Wang’s expression changed slightly after hearing Du Heng’s words.

Seeing Du Heng really about to leave, he hurriedly said, ”Doctor Du, are you going on a business trip?”

Du Heng stopped, directly saying, ”That’s right, I’m going to various schools to give lectures for the whole summer.

So I won’t be able to return Mr. Wang’s invitation soon; please don’t blame me, Mr. Wang.”

”Not at all, Doctor Du, you’re too polite,” Mr. Wang replied immediately with courtesy.

Seeing that the man still hadn’t mentioned his own matter, Du Heng said again, ”Mr. Wang, you and Classmate Gu stay; I’ll head off first.

I’ll definitely invite Mr. Wang for dinner when I return from the trip.”

Seeing Du Heng really about to leave, Gu Qinghong stood up too and said, ”Du, wait for me, I’ve had enough to eat too. Let’s go together.”

Du Heng looked at Gu Qinghong with a bit of confusion but said nothing, simply nodding and turning to leave again.

This time, Mr. Wang was truly anxious; a trip lasting two months was somewhat unexpected for him.

”Doctor Du, please hold on.” As Du Heng was about to reach the door, Mr. Wang finally spoke up.

Du Heng slightly curled his mouth, as expected, ”Mr. Wang, is there something else?”

Mr. Wang stood up and pointed to a chair, ”I need to borrow a few minutes of your time; I have a project I’d like to discuss with you.”

Not about seeing a patient?

Du Heng raised an eyebrow slightly.

After glancing at Gu Qinghong beside him, he felt he should give face to Gu Qinghong and sat back in the chair, ”Go ahead, Mr. Wang.”

Mr. Wang adjusted his expression and then seriously said, ”Doctor Du, I know you’re a blogger with 10 million fans, a famous science popularization doctor online. Your fans really trust what you say.

Our company has developed a new medicine recently and would like your help in promoting it.”

Du Heng’s smile immediately vanished, and after taking a deep breath, he slowly asked, ”Is it Chinese herbal medicine or Western medicine? What is it used for? Does it have the necessary credentials to go public?”

Upon hearing Du Heng’s questions, Mr. Wang’s smile stiffened slightly but soon resumed, ”Doctor Du, our company’s medicine is a Chinese herbal compound specifically designed to eliminate lung nodules.

We’re collaborating with other doctors and have received very good feedback on its effectiveness.

However, we haven’t found a good publicity channel, so we’re currently limited to selling in a few local small hospitals.”

With these words, Mr. Wang’s face was full of sincerity, ”Doctor Du, I know you’re an expert and have a strong influence online.

So we’d like to ask you to help promote it for us.”

Mr. Wang spoke earnestly, and with sincerity, but Du Heng’s face looked extremely displeased.

This unpleasant expression made Mr. Wang’s speech falter gradually, and when Du Heng’s face was entirely clouded, Mr. Wang could no longer continue.

Yet seeing Du Heng still not speak, Mr. Wang could only say again, ”Doctor Du, as a blogger with 10 million fans, I know your advertisement rates are very high; I wouldn’t let you suffer a loss.

Would it work for you if we pay you according to your video views?

We’re not tightfisted at all; how about one yuan for one exposure?”

Is this an attractive offer?

Considering Du Heng’s current video views, it really isn’t bad.

However, this did not appeal to Du Heng at all; instead, it made his face even more somber.

Seeing Du Heng react like this left Gu Qinghong and Mr. Wang dumbfounded; they couldn’t understand why Du Heng had that expression. Wasn’t the money enough?

Watching as Du Heng remained silent, Mr. Wang said again, ”Doctor Du, or how about according to the number of likes…”

This time, even before Mr. Wang finished speaking, Du Heng directly raised his hand to interrupt and then coldly looked at Mr. Wang, ”I’m sorry, Mr. Wang, please find someone else for this cooperation.”

Having finished speaking, Du Heng, without any hesitation, got up to leave.

”Doctor Du, please wait.” Mr. Wang hurriedly stood up, trying again to keep Du Heng, ”Please reconsider, Doctor Du, you can set any condition you want.”

Du Heng took a deep breath, turned around, and coldly looked at Mr. Wang, ”Mr. Wang, I really didn’t want to say more, but for the sake of the patients, I must remind you, have a conscience.”

”Doctor Du, what do you mean?”

”What do I mean?” Du Heng laughed coldly, ”Do you know what a lung nodule is? Do you know how lung nodules form?

Western medicine, to date, hasn’t developed a single medicine capable of eliminating lung nodules. Are you joking that a Chinese herbal compound can do so?”

Mr. Wang’s face changed drastically, his eyes flickering as he looked at Du Heng, ”Doctor Du, aren’t you a TCM? Why are you belittling Chinese herbal medicine like this?”
