This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

The smell was strong but easily nauseating, a kind of nausea that stemmed from both the mind and body.

Du Heng wanted to leave but felt embarrassed, so he could only hold on, and hold on a little longer.

Yet it was this feeling of embarrassment that made him gradually develop a sense of rejection toward the operating room.

If there’s a next time, he won’t step into the operating room again; no matter who invites him, he won’t set foot there.

The best fit for him in this life is to be an internist in traditional Chinese medicine or an orthopedic doctor. Such bloody scenes are really not suited for him.

After an hour and a half, the surgery finally ended, and Du Heng was relieved. The moment he stepped out of the operating room, he suddenly felt a sense of exhaustion; even his knees felt a bit weak, almost unable to stand.

Sir Huang looked at Du Heng amusingly and asked softly, ”What’s wrong, Deputy Director Du not accustomed to such scenes?”

Du Heng smiled awkwardly and nodded lightly, ”Sir Huang, I’m sorry, I personally have a strong reaction to such scenes.

I’ve tried experimenting and adjusting before, but just can’t manage to adjust.”

Sir Huang laughed heartily, ”If you can’t adjust, you can’t adjust. In a lifetime, having one skill you’re good at is already remarkable.

Your Internal Medicine Department expertise has made you a renowned expert in our hospital and even nationwide. You should let other people have a shot too.

If you also take over surgery, what about others? Working with you, wouldn’t they, including myself, seem foolish?”

Du Heng quickly waved his hand and said, ”Sir Huang, don’t say that. You’re the old predecessor, today you’ve truly opened my eyes.

Just with a touch of experience, everything was precise, neither more nor less, just found the lesion’s spot. What you showcased nearly blew my eyes away.”

Assisted, Sir Huang smiled slightly, ”I’ve lived for over 70, almost 80 years and have been seeing patients for nearly 60 years. If I didn’t have even this bit of experience, wouldn’t my life have been in vain?”

Du Heng very much agreed with Sir Huang’s words; isn’t that how experience comes about!

”Sir Huang, may I ask you a question?”

”Go ahead.”

”Sir Huang, how did you confirm that the patient had breast cancer?”

Sir Huang’s pace slowed down for a bit and then he slowly said, ”First, conducting examinations, that’s definitely key. Secondly, looking at previous disease records.

The patient first did B-ultrasound and nuclear magnetic inspection nearly five years ago.

Also, the medical record notes all the changes from initial symptoms to the current condition.

In such a scenario, apart from cancer, there doesn’t seem to be any other reasonable explanation.

Moreover, the patient sought treatment for five years. Over such a long span, none of the inspection sheets showed changes, which is actually the biggest issue.”

Is this how cancer is diagnosed?

Du Heng looked at Sir Huang in mild surprise, was this not somewhat careless?

Or was this what they call ’profound simplicity’?

Back in his office, Du Heng began to slowly recall Sir Huang’s words, also trying to remember the patient materials he had seen then, attempting to summarize the patterns mentioned by Sir Huang in his mind.

But unfortunately, Du Heng didn’t look closely at the patient materials at that time, and now thinking about it, he couldn’t sort out their timeline.

Trying to find some disease records in his computer, he realized all he had were traditional Chinese medicine cases, and all self-written, completely unable to achieve the effect that Sir Huang mentioned.

Just as Du Heng was about to give up, he suddenly remembered that he still had the disease record sent by Kang Zhirong on his phone.

This was a complete Western medicine disease record, and he could experiment with it as per Sir Huang’s instruction to see if he could achieve the same effect.

Du Heng took out his mobile phone, found the disease record sent by Kang Zhirong, and started reading it word by word from the beginning.

This time, Du Heng didn’t focus on the illness and treatment but included the timeline as well.

And just with this simple action, Du Heng immediately discovered the problem within the disease record.

He found out that on the 7th day of hospitalization, the patient had a whole day and night of therapeutic blanks.

During this time, the patient didn’t use any medication for treatment.

What was the patient doing on this day? What was the hospital doing? What were the doctors and nurses doing?

And it was right after this day, in the afternoon of the next day, the patient developed an infection. This infection quickly spread throughout the chest cavity and even to the lung lobes.

Du Heng felt a trace of excitement, quickly closed the document, and started calling Kang Zhirong.

”Xiao Kang, let me ask you something, on the 7th day, the patient had a day and night without treatment, did you know about this?”

On the other end of the phone, Kang Zhiyong immediately replied, ”Brother, I know about this situation. My girlfriend and I specifically went to apologize to him.

However, upon arriving at the hospital, the nurse said that the previous evening, this person left the hospital, and the next day was also nowhere to be found. He only returned on the morning of the 3rd day,

but in the afternoon of returning, the patient developed an infection.”

Du Heng took a gentle breath, finding out the key to the problem, ”Then let me ask you, do you know where he went?”

”I don’t know. I asked the doctors and nurses, and they also said they didn’t know,” Kang Zhirong quickly, yet confidently replied.

Du Heng took a deep breath, ”Xiao Kang, go find Lawyer Zhou, and together with him, go to the hospital and ask the doctors and that man, where the patient went and what they did during those two nights and a day when he disappeared?”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, Kang Zhirong also became excited.

Right, that man had an infection, not after I knocked him down but only during those two nights and a day he disappeared.

So no matter what the reason, as long as it’s confirmed with the hospital that the infection occurred after his disappearance, then it has nothing to do with me.

No, more precisely, it should have nothing much to do with me.

As for the compensation of more than 100,000 yuan he mentioned, sorry, that also doesn’t exist.

Thanks to Du Heng’s reminder, after expressing his gratitude, Kang Zhirong impatiently hung up the phone. He now needs to quickly find his girlfriend and Lawyer Zhou; they have to go to the hospital to clarify things.

Putting down the phone, Du Heng also felt a bit relieved. Just as he was about to read a book, he saw Director Wu enter his office again.

The just-entered Director Wu asked cheerfully, ”Xiao Du, how do you feel today?”

Du Heng couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile, ”Sir Huang is really incredible; the things not detected in the scans, he accurately found the lesion with just experience.

Director Wu had a face full of admiration, ”Who do you think Mr. Huang is? The national breast surgery founder. Of the better gland specialists in our country now, which one hasn’t learned under Sir Huang?

That he can achieve such a level doesn’t surprise me at all.”

Agreeing, Du Heng nodded while asking Director Wu, ”Director, did you look for me for something?”

Director Wu gently acknowledged with ”um” and then looked at Du Heng seriously and asked, ”How do you think Teacher’s health is recovering now?”

”Professor Lan?” Du Heng pondered for a moment, ”Over a month of adjustments, Professor Lan’s mood has significantly changed, and the change in mood has further influenced the absorption of medication.

Thus, Professor Lan’s recovery is very good, even a bit better than I expected.”
