Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Aside from registering Gible’s information, another important reason Chen Mo had come to the Special Response Bureau today—

Was the new ecological park.

After recruiting a large number of Pokémon from Mount Zangqing, the Bureau’s ecological park was surely very different from the one Chen Mo had seen before.

Just imagining countless Pokémon leisurely wandering through the park filled him with anticipation.

Ever since beginning his journey, Chen Mo had already encountered over a hundred different Pokémon species, and the total number was impossible to count.

Yet up until now—

Aside from Absol, who had been sent by Suicune, Marshadow, who served under Ho-Oh, and the Gible hatched from the egg—

Chen Mo had only truly captured four Pokémon himself.

It wasn’t because his standards for capturing Pokémon were particularly high.

On the contrary—

Chen Mo was actually very casual about it.

As long as both sides were willing and they clicked naturally, then there was no issue.

To put it simply—

If Chen Mo had completely relaxed his standards, there had actually been many, many Pokémon he could have captured throughout his travels.

Not to mention—

Back at Mount Zangqing, many injured wild Pokémon whom Chen Mo personally cared for had once expressed the desire to follow him.

But without exception—

Chen Mo had refused them all.

The reason was simple.

A person’s energy was limited.

When he first arrived in this world, Chen Mo’s thinking had been straightforward:

If a Pokémon caught his eye and wanted to follow him, then he could capture it. No problem at all.

But as his team gradually grew larger—

Especially after Absol joined—

Seeing the constantly fluctuating friendship levels of all his Pokémon through Detection Eye had already begun making him feel strained.

Chen Mo wasn’t a superhero.

And by then, he had roughly understood—

Why in the original world, Pokémon trainers were limited to carrying only six Pokémon at a time during their journeys, while any extras had to remain at home.

Because once there were too many Pokémon—

A single trainer simply couldn’t properly care for them all.

Chen Mo wasn’t a collector.

Capturing Pokémon only to store them at home and ignore them afterward—

Was an extremely irresponsible thing to do.

Therefore—

Even though he genuinely wanted more Pokémon, Chen Mo, who still spent most of his time traveling, deliberately restrained himself.

However—

”If I ever retire someday… or when my educational mission is mostly complete… maybe I could capture more Pokémon, build an ecological garden somewhere peaceful and remote with beautiful scenery, and live quietly together with them.”

Thinking that far ahead, Chen Mo couldn’t help smiling.

Compared to the previous Hero of Ideals, Arthas—

Who had been born into chaos, taken the burdens of the world upon himself, and ultimately accomplished great deeds—

Chen Mo constantly dreamed about retiring early and living a peaceful life with Pokémon instead.

Shaking his head, and seeing the Bureau drawing nearer, Chen Mo finally took out his livestream equipment.

The moment the stream opened—

A massive wave of viewers who had long been waiting poured into the channel.

[Teacher Mo, is Gible really okay already? Isn’t this progress way too fast?]

The audience’s biggest concern immediately surfaced.

After all—

The impression Gible had left yesterday was simply too terrible.

As for Chen Mo—

His response was very simple.

”Gible, come here.”

”Gaao?”

Having just stepped out of the car, Gible looked confused upon hearing Chen Mo call for it.

Still—

It quickly ran over on its short little legs.

”Watch carefully now—hup!”

Chen Mo bent down and picked up the bewildered little shark from the ground.

Then—

Right in front of the livestream audience—

He proceeded to aggressively rub Gible’s head.

”Gaao~”

Held in Chen Mo’s arms and having its head petted, Gible happily squinted its eyes in enjoyment.

As Chen Mo’s motions grew more exaggerated, Gible became increasingly delighted despite not understanding what was happening.

Then—

Just as Chen Mo lifted it high into the air—

Looking at the smile on Chen Mo’s face, Gible finally couldn’t resist anymore.

It suddenly leapt upward from Chen Mo’s hands—

And bit directly onto his head.

”PIKA!!!”

Pikachu, sitting on Chen Mo’s shoulder, was instantly horrified.

The entire livestream exploded into chaos.

[AHHHHHHHHH!!! MURDER!!!]

[It’s over! Teacher Mo pushed his luck too far and got eaten by Gible!]

[CALL THE POLICE! HURRY!]

[A leopard can’t change its spots! We’re doomed!]

[Serves him right! Promoting monsters to humanity—now he dies by one. This is satisfying as hell!]

[Teacher Mo became a headless anime girl…]

[Wait, calm down everyone. Look at Teacher Mo’s expression. Why does it seem like he doesn’t hurt at all? There’s not even blood.]

”Pikachu, don’t panic.”

Chen Mo first stopped the nearly exploding Pikachu beside him before reaching up and pulling Gible off his head helplessly.

”Everyone, don’t worry. Things were too chaotic yesterday, so I never had the chance to properly explain Gible to everyone. Let me take this opportunity today.”

”My Gible has an Ability called Rough Skin.”

”Yesterday, everyone saw my hands looking badly injured. The main reason was because Gible hadn’t acknowledged me yet at the time, and Rough Skin’s special effect caused those injuries.”

”But look now.”

”No matter how I touch Gible, nothing happens at all.”

”And Gible, well…”

”…It’s also using a rather unique way to express affection toward me.”

The viewers stared blankly at the completely non-resistant Gible.

Was this really the same violently rampaging Gible from yesterday?

And also—

Teacher Mo, your head was practically inside Gible’s mouth.

You call that affection!?

This was absurd!

[Even though I don’t understand it, I’m deeply shocked. Teacher Mo, maybe ask Gible to tone down these ”expressions of affection” in the future. You’re fine, but our hearts can’t handle it!]

[Honestly… I think Gible looked kinda cute just now…]

[Bro above definitely has some weird masochistic tendencies. But seriously, what kind of magic did Teacher Mo use? Where’s yesterday’s savage Gible?]

[This is probably Teacher Mo’s personal charm. Honestly, after yesterday’s situation, would any of us have dared approach Gible? Teacher Mo got bitten that badly and still didn’t get angry—he even stopped Absol from attacking Gible. I definitely couldn’t do that.]

[All I can say is: holy shit.]

[Wait, I don’t get it. Why does Teacher Mo say touching Gible after being acknowledged is safe now? Is Rough Skin really this mystical?]

[Come on, they’re Pokémon. Being mysterious and powered by feelings is perfectly normal.]

Chen Mo smiled.

”Rough Skin is actually nothing special compared to some others.”

”In the Pokémon world, there’s a Pokémon called Ponyta.”

”Ponyta has an incredibly handsome appearance, and its entire body is covered in flames. An ordinary person touching it would normally be burned by its blazing mane.”

”Sounds scary, right?”

”If a trainer captured Ponyta and wanted to cuddle with it, wouldn’t that be impossible?”

”But in reality, it’s not.”

”As long as Ponyta acknowledges someone, whether trainer or friend, they won’t be burned by its flames at all.”

”This mysterious phenomenon still cannot be explained.”

”However, that’s simply how the Pokémon world works.”

”If humans and Pokémon truly understand one another, then many unbelievable things—things that can only be described as miracles—become possible.”

Many trainers watching the stream subconsciously looked toward the Pokémon beside them after hearing Chen Mo’s words.

[Miracles don’t matter. As long as I can happily live together with a Pokémon someday, I’ll already be satisfied. So seriously—WHEN DO I GET MY OWN POKÉMON!?]

[Ponyta sounds like an amazing Pokémon.]

[Okay but important question: a while ago I captured a Meowth. I personally feel our bond has become really deep recently. Is there any chance Meowth can create a miracle and become a catgirl?]

[Uh… dude above, Meowth doesn’t have sexual dimorphism. Are you even sure yours is female? Also, Meowth’s looks aren’t that great. Espurr from that A Yuan guy is way cuter.]

[Jesus Christ, you people are genuinely deranged.]

[Pokémon becoming human is impossible! Stop dreaming, degenerates!]

Chen Mo’s expression didn’t change at all despite the livestream once again veering into bizarre territory.

He was already used to a portion of his audience being hopelessly unserious.

Naturally—

He ignored those questions completely.

Walking leisurely through the ecological park—

The wide variety of Pokémon left the newly born Gible utterly dazzled.

Some Pokémon whom Chen Mo had rescued before even ran over proactively after noticing his arrival, affectionately rubbing against him.

Watching this scene—

Gible gradually realized something.

Its trainer…

Seemed extremely popular among other Pokémon.

”Woof!” ”Woof woof!”

Excited barking suddenly rang out nearby.

Moments later—

Several Houndour came charging over while wagging their tails excitedly, followed behind by a soldier in full military uniform.

”So it’s Teacher Mo. I was wondering why the Houndour suddenly got so excited. Looks like they caught your scent.”

The soldier smiled brightly.

Chen Mo patted each Houndour’s head before turning toward the soldier.

”No training today?”

Unlike many other Pokémon, the Houndour line already had structured arrangements after joining humanity’s side.

They trained daily and could be considered rather hardworking Pokémon.

”Nope. Today we mainly brought them over for testing and checkups. We just finished and were about to head back to base.”

The soldier responsible for temporarily caring for the Houndour smiled.

At that moment—

A black figure slowly approached from nearby.

”Houndoom, no need to walk us out any farther. I’ll bring the Houndour back safely tonight.”

The soldier waved toward Houndoom before leading the Houndour away and bidding Chen Mo farewell.

”Then Teacher Mo, I’ll take the Houndour back first.”

”Mm, alright.”

After saying goodbye to the Houndour, Chen Mo finally turned toward the distant Houndoom.

During the time since returning to Anping City, Houndoom had clearly been well cared for by the Bureau.

The evidence was obvious—

Its once-dull fur had regained some shine.

”Long time no see, Houndoom.”

”Heylu…”

Allowing Chen Mo’s restless hands to rub through its fur, Houndoom suddenly noticed an intense stare directed at it.

Turning around—

It saw a tiny shark staring curiously upward.

A Pokémon it had never seen before…

”Gible. It just hatched from an egg. It’s our new companion.”

Noticing the two Pokémon looking at each other, Chen Mo introduced them with a smile.

Houndoom nodded.

Then—

After walking several steps away, it glanced back at Chen Mo again.

”You want me to follow you?”

”Heylu…”

Houndoom responded softly.

Soon—

Led by Houndoom, Chen Mo and the others arrived at a low berry forest where small wild Pokémon could be seen harvesting berries among the trees.

Beside the berry forest was a large pond.

Panpour occasionally leapt out of the water, jumping beside the berry trees and using their tails like watering cans to carefully water trees that had not yet borne fruit.

”What a huge change…”

Chen Mo remembered clearly—

The ecological park hadn’t even had a berry forest during his previous visit.

Now, though—

The Bureau was clearly already capable of cultivating many different kinds of berries.

They had even recruited the Panpour line, who were experts at growing plants.

The water sprayed from their tails possessed incredible properties that promoted healthy plant growth.

”Heylu…”

Houndoom gestured for Chen Mo and the Pokémon to start picking berries.

Although there was never any shortage of berries at home, since Houndoom had invited them, Chen Mo naturally wouldn’t refuse.

”Everyone, come out!”

Accompanied by flashes of white light—

Absol, Pidgeotto, and even Magikarp, who landed in the nearby pond with a splash, all appeared before the camera.

Meanwhile—

gengar, who had secretly been observing from the shadow world, needed no prompting from Chen Mo.

It excitedly dragged Pikachu straight into the berry forest.

Seeing this, Chen Mo immediately called out:

”You all just ate lunch, so don’t pick too much! Absolutely no wasting food!”

Led by Absol, Gible also waddled into the berry forest, curiously looking around the entire time.

At that moment—

Houndoom appeared once again.

Holding an Apicot Berry in its mouth, it walked over to Gible.

”Heylu.”

Houndoom placed the berry down before softly calling toward Gible.

”Gaao…”

Gible realized Houndoom seemed to be giving the berry to it.

In the distance—

Chen Mo smiled warmly at the scene.

Then—

A familiar voice suddenly sounded beside him.

”As expected… Houndoom really does love taking care of younger Pokémon.”
