Garbodor didn’t quite understand why the human in front of it kept talking to that strange black device, but it did understand the meaning behind his words.

For a moment, its expression grew complicated.

”Da-si…”

After a long silence, Garbodor finally spoke.

After Pikachu translated, Chen Mo’s expression turned a bit odd.

He looked at the camera and said slowly:

”Garbodor says… it wants to see you one more time.”

Not far away—

Mo Ji and Donggua, who had just finished their checkups at the hospital, immediately turned to look at the still-dazed Anzi.

”Looks like Garbodor really cares about you. Even after you kicked it, it still can’t let you go.”

Donggua grinned mischievously.

”So? Want to accept it? If you do, you won’t even need to clean your room anymore—Garbodor will eat all your trash for you.”

”Forget it.”

Anzi gave a wry smile.

”I’m not interested in Pokémon like Trubbish or Garbodor. And… I’ve decided to start over. I’ll send out résumés tomorrow and find a new job as soon as possible.”

”That’s great.”

Donggua smiled.

For him, seeing his friend finally step out of his slump was the biggest gain from this whole incident.

Trubbish, you guys did well…

”Should we tell Teacher Mo to refuse?” Donggua asked.

”No need.”

Anzi shook his head.

”I’ll go see Garbodor. This whole mess started because of me. Teacher Mo worked hard to calm them down—I can’t cause more trouble.”

That answer made even Mo Ji look at him with newfound respect.

Without a word, Mo Ji stepped aside, called a colleague at the garbage plant, and relayed their decision.

Soon—

Garbodor saw the person it had been longing for.

At first, it had been furious—wanting revenge.

But when the moment came…

It hesitated.

Otherwise, those Koffing that came to feed wouldn’t have been able to stop it at all.

”Da-si…”

Standing before Anzi, Garbodor listened to his explanation, looking somewhat lost.

”…That’s what happened. Garbodor, Trubbish… I’m sorry. I’m not the person you were waiting for.”

Anzi smiled calmly.

”I’m a failure. But thank you—you helped me walk out of my past. I truly hope that both of us can find something worth holding onto in the future.”

Garbodor stared at him for a long time.

Then slowly nodded.

”Da-si!”

”…Goodbye.”

Anzi waved, turned around, took a deep breath, and walked forward into the night with a firm expression.

Garbodor remained where it was, watching his departing figure.

Just as many humans never forget their first love, Pokémon—being even more pure in their emotions—often cherish such bonds even more deeply.

Standing at the entrance of the garbage plant, Chen Mo watched the scene with mixed emotions.

He was reminded of Pokémon: I Choose You!—

When Charmander was abandoned by Cross for being weak.

Later, under Ash’s care, it evolved and eventually defeated Cross’s Incineroar.

But even then—

When Cross was in danger, Charizard still protected him.

Many viewers had questioned why.

But the answer was simple:

Because once, they had been partners.

That bond never fully disappeared.

Pokémon value emotions deeply.

And in the end, Cross himself rediscovered his love for Pokémon.

There were many stories like that.

The reason this one came to Chen Mo’s mind—

Was because of Marshadow.

In that movie, Marshadow had briefly played an antagonistic role.

”Ma-xia…”

At that moment—

Hidden within Chen Mo’s shadow, Marshadow sensed his thoughts and immediately stiffened.

”I never did anything like that!”

Its childish, indignant voice echoed in Chen Mo’s mind.

Chen Mo froze.

The stream had long ended, and only Brother Yi was nearby.

Using the excuse of taking a call, Chen Mo stepped aside, lowered his voice—and spoke directly to Marshadow.

”You can read my thoughts?”

”That wasn’t me!” Marshadow insisted.

After some prodding, it reluctantly explained the nature of the shadow world.

Chen Mo was stunned.

His thoughts… were being exposed so directly?

Then—

Did that mean Marshadow already knew he was a transmigrator?

Even about the system?

”So what if you’re from another world?” Marshadow said casually. ”I’m an outsider too. We’re the same. What, you think I’d attack you like that other Marshadow?”

”…Not really.”

Chen Mo sighed.

Since arriving in this world, he had hidden his identity—even from his own Pokémon.

Now, suddenly exposed…

It felt complicated.

But thinking back—

During the events at Mount Zangqing, when he relived memories under Marshadow’s protection…

He should’ve realized it then.

He had just been too busy to notice.

”…Forget it. If it’s exposed, it’s exposed.”

Just like Marshadow said—

They were both outsiders.

It wasn’t such a big deal.

Feeling lighter, Chen Mo asked:

”Marshadow, want to chat?”

”No.”

The refusal was instant.

”That’s fine. Rest for now. We’ll talk later.”

”…”

This guy…

In the shadow world, Marshadow clenched its fists.

Just like trainer, just like Pokémon—

gengar had already been pestering it nonstop whenever it entered the shadows.

If Marshadow didn’t respond, gengar would just keep making noise.

”So annoying!”

Marshadow resolved to ignore Chen Mo no matter what.

It had only followed him out of curiosity—

After all, Chen Mo knew far too much.

Even Suicune had been intrigued.

So Marshadow slipped into his shadow…

And stayed.

”Outsiders, huh…”

Feeling Chen Mo’s unexpectedly cheerful mood, Marshadow shook its head and closed its eyes—

But suddenly—

It sensed something unusual.

Without Chen Mo noticing, Marshadow peeked out of his shadow, looking toward the garbage plant.

”That is…”

—

After meeting Anzi, Garbodor agreed to Chen Mo’s proposal.

Hours later, after handing things over to the Special Affairs Bureau, Chen Mo said goodbye to Brother Yi and returned home alone.

He was exhausted—

But mentally energized.

He kept trying to get Marshadow to talk.

But Marshadow ignored him completely.

”Marshadow, you asked for this.”

Chen Mo turned to gengar.

”I’ll leave it to you.”

”Geng!”

gengar patted its chest confidently.

Soon—

After relentless harassment, Marshadow finally rose from the shadows, looking extremely annoyed.

”Pika pika!”

Pikachu ran up excitedly to greet it.

Even Pidgeotto joined in, introducing Magikarp.

Faced with such friendliness, Marshadow sighed.

Fine.

Just this once.

”Geng!”

gengar leaned in too—

Only to be shoved away by a shadowy hand.

You and your trainer—unforgivable.

But gengar didn’t care, grinning as it kept coming back.

Eventually—

Marshadow gave up.

Seeing this, Chen Mo approached with berries and honey from Combee.

”Want something to eat?”

This time, Marshadow accepted.

It hadn’t eaten properly in a long time.

With Chen Mo and the others, it finally had some berries.

Taking the chance, Chen Mo began chatting casually.

Then—

He noticed something strange.

Marshadow knew he was from another world—

But had no idea about the system.

”…That’s odd.”

It was as if any thoughts about the system were blocked before reaching Marshadow.

”So the system can do that too…”

Chen Mo looked impressed.

He had always wondered about its origin.

At first, he suspected some creator deity—

But after certain limitations, he wasn’t so sure.

Now—

”…Interesting.”

Chen Mo opened the system shop, deep in thought.
