Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Although Pikachu was extremely confused by Gible’s behavior, its reaction to the charging Gible was still immediate.

”Pika!”

A metallic sheen carrying a chilling aura instantly wrapped around Pikachu’s lightning-shaped tail.

The next second—

Facing the Gible that had already entered its Outrage state and was charging headfirst toward it, Pikachu still held back slightly. Instead of striking directly, it merely used Iron Tail to block Gible’s head, trying to stop the attack and calm Gible down.

However—

Great power often came with side effects.

Aside from exclusive moves belonging to certain Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon, Outrage was considered one of the highest-level Dragon-type techniques.

But because using it caused Pokémon to temporarily lose their rationality and enter a frenzied state, it was usually only used as a final desperate move.

And clearly—

Already confused to begin with, Gible had completely lost itself under Outrage.

”GAAAO!”

If headbutting didn’t work, then claws.

If claws didn’t work, then teeth.

If teeth didn’t work, then legs.

There was no technique whatsoever—

Just pure brute force.

Of course—

Such attacks alone weren’t enough to break through Pikachu’s defenses.

But every time Pikachu blocked Gible’s attacks with Iron Tail, it could feel a sharp stinging sensation where they made contact, as though steel needles were piercing its tail.

Something was definitely wrong.

”Pika…”

After hesitating briefly, Pikachu finally increased its strength.

BANG!

With a heavy impact, Gible was sent flying backward. It rolled several times across the ground before finally stopping.

[Honestly, for a ”late bloomer” Pokémon, Gible’s performance right now is unbelievable. It actually managed to fight Pikachu to this extent.]

[Do you even understand battles? Remember Pikachu’s fight with Bebe back at Mount Zangqing? Pikachu’s obviously holding back.]

[Of course Gible can’t beat Pikachu. Pikachu’s already fought fully evolved pseudo-legendaries before, like that Hydreigon. But for a newborn Pokémon, Gible’s performance is already terrifying. Just look at Teacher Mo’s yard.]

Ah Hui looked around at the ruined courtyard full of craters and destruction, inwardly shocked.

This thing had just been born.

If it got any stronger—

Wouldn’t it become absurdly powerful?

Though… that personality…

Just as Ah Hui sighed inwardly, he suddenly noticed Chen Mo, who had been riding Pidgeotto in the sky, had already descended to the ground and was now slowly walking toward where Gible had fallen.

”Absol…”

Seeing this, Absol quietly followed behind him.

Soon—

The human and Pokémon arrived beside Gible.

Although Pikachu hadn’t seriously injured it, it was as though a tightly stretched string had suddenly snapped.

Once Outrage ended, Gible was utterly exhausted. Combined with the confusion effect, it no longer had any strength left to fight.

And yet—

It still struggled to stand, glaring stubbornly at Pikachu.

Clearly—

It still wanted to continue fighting.

At that moment—

A voice sounded above its head.

”That’s enough!”

Then—

A pair of warm hands landed on Gible’s back, helping it up.

”GAAAO!”

At such close range, the enraged Gible immediately bit down on Chen Mo’s arm.

Its sharp teeth easily pierced his skin, and bright red blood quickly flowed from the wound.

”PIKA!” ”GENGUI!” ”BIBI!”

The three Pokémon, already deeply dissatisfied with Gible, immediately roared furiously. If not for Chen Mo standing nearby, they would have unleashed their strongest attacks already.

Even Absol’s expression turned cold.

At first, Absol had been incredibly tolerant toward Gible because it cared deeply for the Pokémon hatched from the egg.

But the moment Gible attacked Chen Mo—

That tolerance vanished.

”Absol!”

Unlike the others farther away, Absol immediately prepared to attack the Gible still biting Chen Mo.

And at that moment—

Chen Mo spoke again.

”Don’t attack!”

Absol froze in confusion.

Meanwhile—

The livestream audience was equally bewildered.

[WHY!? Teacher Mo, I could barely understand you telling Pikachu to hold back earlier, but now!? You’re still tolerating this Gible with such a terrible personality!?]

[Its talent’s great, but honestly, Teacher Mo deserves better Pokémon than this.]

[That’s so much blood…]

[Teacher Mo, what are you doing!?]

The chat exploded.

Ah Hui also frowned deeply.

Watching Chen Mo continue stroking Gible calmly despite his arm being torn open, Ah Hui sighed softly.

”Everyone, calm down.”

He lowered his voice.

”I’ve spent a decent amount of time with Brother Mo, so I understand what kind of person he is.”

”If I had to summarize him in one sentence—”

”Brother Mo is an incredibly gentle person who values feelings and bonds deeply.”

”Back then, he was willing to accompany someone like me into Evergreen Forest even though we’d only known each other for a month.”

”And the feelings he has toward Gible are even deeper.”

”The egg was hatched together by Brother Mo and his Pokémon. After caring for it for so long, there’s no way he doesn’t have feelings for it.”

”Plus, the egg came from Quagsire. This was Quagsire’s request.”

”And someone like Brother Mo, who treasures responsibility and emotions so much, would never abandon Gible.”

The previously chaotic chat slowly calmed after Ah Hui’s explanation.

Meanwhile—

After stopping Absol and the others, Chen Mo quietly circulated his Aura power, trying to soothe Gible.

”Gaao…”

Gible didn’t seem to react much, still biting his arm tightly.

As Ah Hui said—

Chen Mo never cared much about talent or potential.

The reason he treated Gible this way was simple:

He had already decided long ago that he would properly raise whichever Pokémon hatched from that egg.

As for the injury—

He didn’t care much.

Back at the Pokémon Medical Center, A Yuan had endured severe injuries for Espurr without fear.

Compared to that—

This was nothing.

Then—

While gently stroking Gible’s rough skin, his own hands scratched bloody by the Rough Skin Ability, Chen Mo suddenly noticed something.

Gible’s body—

Was trembling.

Chen Mo froze slightly.

He could feel it.

Gible was afraid.

At this moment, it was like a lost child who couldn’t find home or parents. After enduring endless darkness and loneliness, it had suddenly entered a completely unfamiliar world—

And from the bottom of its heart, it felt fear and helplessness.

”Gible.”

A gentle voice sounded above it.

Still biting his arm tightly, Gible continued applying pressure, as though only this could provide it with even the slightest sense of security.

Then—

The warm voice continued softly.

”You don’t need to be afraid anymore. There are no enemies here.”

No enemies?

Confusion rose within Gible.

But quickly—

It rejected the idea.

Impossible!

That terrifying aura—

It had definitely sensed it nearby all this time.

There was no mistake!

But…

This voice…

It felt so familiar.

So warm.

Meanwhile—

Chen Mo could only sigh helplessly inwardly.

Although Gible and Zekrom were both Dragon-types, and Zekrom’s aura naturally suppressed Gible—

Just how much psychological trauma had Zekrom caused this child?

At this point, Chen Mo even began suspecting—

Maybe the egg had already existed in the cave before Zekrom left.

Otherwise—

Being frightened to this extent by only lingering scales felt way too exaggerated.

Then again…

Considering Gible was a pseudo-legendary ”late bloomer,” its incubation period was among the longest of all Pokémon eggs.

Timing-wise—

It was entirely possible.

Just as Chen Mo prepared to continue comforting this deeply traumatized little Gible—

He suddenly noticed the sharp teeth clamped around his arm had loosened slightly.

Looking carefully—

Perhaps due to sheer exhaustion, Gible had fallen asleep while still standing.

”… ”

Chen Mo smiled softly.

It reminded him of his own childhood.

Back then, whenever he felt wronged and argued with his parents, he would cry and make a fuss endlessly.

And after exhausting himself—

He would unknowingly fall asleep in their arms.

…That had been a very long time ago.

Ever since he’d become alone—

He’d never had a place like that again.

Chen Mo gently pried Gible off his arm and slowly lifted it up.

Heavy.

This little guy weighed far more than Pikachu.

Still—

Looking at the tense expression Gible wore even in sleep, Chen Mo whispered softly,

”You don’t need to be afraid anymore. If you’re willing… we’ll become your family from now on.”

The moment those words fell—

The sleeping Gible’s expression visibly relaxed slightly.

Nearby—

Ah Hui hurried over carrying the camera.

He glanced at the sleeping Gible in Chen Mo’s arms, then at Chen Mo’s blood-covered hands, before saying seriously,

”Brother Mo, let me hold Gible. Go treat your wounds first.”

”No need.”

Chen Mo shook his head.

Gible’s Ability was Rough Skin.

Touching it—or being struck by it—could injure others.

That was why Pikachu had felt pain earlier.

If Ah Hui held Gible now, he might get hurt too.

”gengar, go grab a large blanket from inside.”

Chen Mo turned toward the worried gengar.

Soon—

gengar quickly returned carrying a blanket.

But just as Chen Mo tried placing Gible onto it—

The sleeping Gible suddenly twitched, its expression becoming uneasy.

”Pika!”

Pikachu instantly glared furiously.

This little brat had injured its trainer—

And now refused to leave his arms!?

Absolutely shameless!

Even Chen Mo hadn’t expected this.

As he gently stroked Gible’s chipped dorsal fin, he suddenly realized—

The painful prickling sensation from Rough Skin had disappeared.

”…Right.”

He remembered now.

In the original series, Max once injured himself touching a Sharpedo with Rough Skin. But later, after they formed a bond, touching it no longer caused harm.

Looking at the sleeping Gible—

Was it beginning to trust him?

Or was it simply because it had fallen asleep?

”Brother Mo…”

Ah Hui looked worried.

Chen Mo smiled reassuringly.

”It’s fine.”

Then he turned toward Pikachu and gengar.

”Pikachu, gengar, please grab the medical kit from my bedroom cabinet. And bring some Potions too.”

”Pika…”

Pikachu sighed helplessly at Gible before heading upstairs with gengar.

The situation finally settled down.

Perched atop the wall, Fletchinder watched Chen Mo casually treating his own injuries before carefully spraying medicine onto Gible.

For some reason—

It suddenly felt a little envious.

More specifically—

Envious of Gible.

After witnessing everything, even Fletchinder found Gible rather unreasonable.

But Chen Mo’s behavior throughout the entire ordeal had deeply shocked it.

What a pity.

Fletchinder glanced at Pidgeotto quietly standing beside Chen Mo.

Then—

It spread its wings and silently flew away.

One mountain could not hold two birds.

But because of Chen Mo—

Fletchinder’s impression of human trainers had completely changed.

Perhaps—

It was time for it to find a trustworthy companion to fight alongside too.
