As the current king of internet traffic, Chen Mo no longer needed official promotion. The moment he started streaming, countless media accounts immediately spread the news.

And so—

When fans from all over the country gradually flooded into the stream, what greeted them was the sight of a Fletchinder confronting Pidgeotto in midair above the park.

And below them—

A familiar figure that longtime viewers deeply missed.

[HOLY CRAP, IT’S HUI-GE! YOU’RE BACK!? WAIT—CATERPIE EVOLVED!?]

[I just got here, what’s going on? Isn’t Teacher Mo in Anping City? Why’s he suddenly battling some Pokémon I don’t recognize?]

[Totally normal. Ever since the Pokémon Medical Center opened, lots of trainers in Anping have started trying Pokémon battles themselves.]

[Wasn’t this supposed to be about hatching an egg…]

[Stop asking already. Teacher Mo invited this Fletchinder to help hatch the egg, but only if Pidgeotto can beat it first.]

[Pidgeotto, let’s go!!!]

[Long time no see, Hui-ge. What happened with Metapod?]

At this moment, Ah Hui—who had rushed over as soon as he heard the news—stood before the camera holding Metapod, completely ignoring the chat as he stared passionately at the battle above.

After traveling with Chen Mo for so long, and later venturing into Mount Taibai with Hao Ran, Ah Hui was no longer the clueless rookie he once was.

So—

He understood very clearly.

Fletchinder was about to lose.

”Pidgeotto, use Hurricane to seal off Fletchinder’s movement!”

Following Chen Mo’s command, Pidgeotto—currently being chased through the sky by Fletchinder—suddenly shot upward at high speed. As Fletchinder closed in from above, Pidgeotto abruptly turned around.

Its massive wings spread wide like a curtain blocking out the sky.

The next second—

A violent gale erupted!

Because it had been chasing too aggressively, Fletchinder had no room to dodge at this distance and was instantly swept into the raging storm.

”It worked!”

Ah Hui clenched his fists, full of excitement.

He knew very well—

Fletchinder’s only advantage in this battle was its incredible speed.

Thanks to its natural species traits, its acceleration and top-speed buildup ranked among the very best of all bird Pokémon.

Of course—

That was excluding legendary Pokémon.

And from the very beginning, Fletchinder had been relying on that natural speed advantage, hoping to overwhelm Pidgeotto with relentless quick attacks.

But clearly—

Although Pidgeotto wasn’t as fast, it wasn’t far behind either.

Instead, the normally aggressive Fletchinder had fallen into a trap.

The Hurricane landed directly.

Its battle rhythm completely disrupted, Fletchinder was now at the end of its rope.

”YAKU!!!”

A piercing cry rang out from within the storm.

Immediately afterward—

A crimson glow ignited.

Wrapped in flames, Fletchinder burst through the Hurricane with the acceleration of Flame Charge.

But—

Before it could react—

A blade of compressed air capable of splitting the sky came flying directly toward it.

BOOM!

Air Slash collided head-on with the speeding Fletchinder. Violent energy exploded across the sky, clouds of smoke blooming outward.

The winner had been decided.

[Teacher Mo’s seriously become so strong. Pidgeotto’s probably the weakest Pokémon on his team now, right? Yet it completely destroyed that Fletchinder without taking damage.]

[Pidgeotto: Say that to my face.]

[To be fair, Magikarp’s still at the bottom…]

[Strength aside, Pidgeotto is the most handsome bird Pokémon I’ve seen so far. No arguments accepted.]

Using Aura throughout the battle to monitor the situation and occasionally direct Pidgeotto, Chen Mo nodded slightly at the result.

When he used Detection Eye on Fletchinder earlier, he discovered that aside from Ember, it lacked any long-range attacks.

From that moment, Chen Mo had already established the battle plan:

Avoid close combat with a Flame Body Pokémon highly skilled at melee combat, wait for the right moment, then counterattack decisively.

Chen Mo never considered himself an outstanding trainer.

The world would continue to progress.

Someday, trainers dedicated entirely to Pokémon battling—people like Red or Ash—might appear in this world, surpassing all his current battle knowledge.

However—

One thing Chen Mo understood very clearly was how to properly utilize his ”cheats” to maximize his odds of victory.

The smoke had yet to clear.

Under Pidgeotto’s kite-style tactics, the completely exhausted Fletchinder plummeted from the sky.

At the same time—

gengar, who had already been waiting nearby, immediately rushed forward according to Chen Mo’s prior instructions and steadily caught the falling Fletchinder.

Soon afterward—

Chen Mo and Ah Hui hurried over with healing spray to treat it.

”Yaku…”

It had lost.

Fletchinder could accept defeat.

But—

This battle had been unbearably frustrating.

It could sense Pidgeotto’s strength from the start.

But such a powerful Pokémon fighting in such an annoying way—

It was practically shameless.

And that human trainer below…

Several times, Fletchinder felt victory was within reach, only for one sentence from Chen Mo to completely dismantle its plan.

In the end—

It never even managed to touch Pidgeotto once.

It had been toyed with to death.

”Your strategy of relying on fast assaults and seizing opportunities to crush opponents suits you very well.”

A gentle voice sounded beside Fletchinder.

”But sometimes, against troublesome opponents, calming down and stabilizing your battle rhythm works better. Also… broadening your attack options is important too.”

”Yaku…”

Though naturally combative, Fletchinder wasn’t stupid.

It understood.

Chen Mo was giving it guidance.

And though unwilling—

It had to admit this human trainer was truly incredible.

”Yaku…”

As the healing spray gradually took effect and it regained some mobility, Fletchinder nodded slightly toward Chen Mo.

Understanding its meaning, Chen Mo smiled warmly.

”Then I’ll leave it to you, Fletchinder.”

Having lost, Fletchinder chose to honor its promise.

Though—

As a single bird, helping hatch an egg was a first for it too. It couldn’t guarantee success.

After Pikachu translated, Chen Mo simply smiled.

”Just do your best. Even if it doesn’t hatch, I won’t blame you.”

”Yaku!”

Under the warm summer sunlight, Fletchinder slowly approached the Pokémon egg protected by Absol.

Then—

It spread its wings and sheltered the egg beneath its body.

Warm light overflowed from Fletchinder’s entire body, continuously flowing into the egg below.

[IS IT FINALLY HAPPENING!?]

[Absol’s worked so hard for this egg. Please let it hatch this time…]

[Teacher Mo: Don’t I deserve sympathy too?]

[I’m so curious what’s inside. It was so hard to hatch—could it actually be a Legendary Pokémon?]

[Legendary Pokémon hatch from eggs? Cope harder. I just want it to be cute.]

[Strength matters most!]

[You guys are arguing like the egg belongs to you.]

Ah Hui, now managing the livestream chat again, glanced at Chen Mo beside him.

”Brother Mo, do you have any idea what Pokémon might hatch?”

”Yeah. A few possibilities.”

The biggest suspect—

Naturally—

Was Riolu, a Pokémon born with Aura powers and extraordinary perception.

Aside from Riolu—

Chen Mo had also thought of two others the night before:

Squirtle and Clawitzer.

Both were blue, possessed Aura-related abilities, and were Water-types like the Quagsire that had guarded the nest.

Of course—

No matter what hatched, Chen Mo intended to raise it properly.

”Absol!”

Absol, standing closest to Fletchinder, was the first to notice something unusual.

The egg—

Protected beneath Fletchinder’s wings—

Had begun trembling slightly within the warmth of Flame Body.

”Just as I thought…”

Chen Mo clenched his fists.

His theory was correct.

The life inside the egg was highly sensitive to its surroundings. Only when it subconsciously determined the outside world was safe would it let down its guard and enter the world.

”Come on, Fletchinder!”

Chen Mo silently encouraged it.

At this moment—

Everyone and every Pokémon present was focused entirely on the shaking egg.

Even Marshadow, hidden in a blind spot outside the camera, poked half its head out curiously to watch.

”It’s glowing!”

Ah Hui tried desperately to suppress his emotions, but when the egg emitted dazzling light, he couldn’t help blurting it out.

Though he had seen Caterpie’s egg before, due to past mistakes, he had never witnessed a Pokémon hatch firsthand.

That regret had always lingered in his heart.

Now—

Watching Chen Mo’s egg hatch felt like a form of consolation.

Crack!

A crisp cracking sound reached everyone’s ears.

At this moment—

Even Chen Mo held his breath, not daring to make the slightest sound as he stared fixedly at the egg.

Thanks to his excellent vision—

He could clearly see a crack appear at the top of the shell.

It was finally hatching!

Within mere breaths, more cracks spread rapidly across the shell.

The life inside was desperately struggling free, trying to break into this bright, warm world.

The light intensified.

The cracking sounds grew louder.

Finally—

Amid dazzling brilliance—

Fletchinder watched in shock as an enormous creature, not at all smaller than itself, emerged from that seemingly tiny egg.

[So this is what Pokémon hatching looks like… way different from chicks hatching from eggs.]

[Well, these are Pokémon. Chickens don’t glow when they hatch.]

[It kinda looks like evolution light. So mysterious.]

[IT’S HUGE!?]

[Teacher Mo hit the jackpot.]

[Too bright—I can’t even tell what it is!]

[Looks like a Pokémon we’ve never seen before… Teacher Mo say something!]

Ah Hui turned toward Chen Mo—

And saw undeniable shock on his face.

That Pokémon…

The light gradually faded.

A massive creature resembling a chibi baby shark appeared before everyone.

Its body was dark blue, with a red underbelly and pale blue markings on its head and dorsal fins.

Most striking of all—

Was its enormous mouth, large enough to swallow Ah Hui’s head whole.

The chat exploded:

[Definitely a new Pokémon!]

[Wait… doesn’t it look familiar? Wasn’t there a shark-like Pokémon in the official documentary before?]

[Yeah! Teacher Mo later explained it was Garchomp—a ”late bloomer,” one of those pseudo-legendary Pokémon!]

[!!!]

[You’re saying Teacher Mo just got one of the strongest Pokémon lines beneath the Legendaries!?]

[I’M SO JEALOUS!!!]

Standing before the camera, Chen Mo looked utterly bewildered.

”…Why is it… Gible?”
