250 Chapter 250: Gible’s Overflowing Talent 2026-10-30

Gible had a very long, very frightening dream.

In the dream—

It was born into a frozen world of ice and snow, a place devoid of any warmth.

There were no clan members around it.

No parents either.

Only an endless white wasteland stretching as far as the eye could see.

It seemed—

It had been left behind.

Gible couldn’t understand why.

So it made a rather foolish decision.

It stayed where it was, waiting—or perhaps hoping—that its companions would come back for it.

But the surroundings were far too cold.

The wind howled endlessly, snow falling without stop.

Naturally sensitive to the cold, Gible instinctively followed the knowledge carved into its DNA and dug a massive hole into the ground.

If its companions returned, they could all huddle together for warmth.

That was what Gible thought.

But—

It waited.

And waited.

Until the entrance it had dug became buried beneath layers of heavy snow.

Hungry, freezing, and utterly exhausted, Gible finally couldn’t endure it anymore.

It crawled back out of the cave.

Looking out over the snow-covered world, Gible decided to search for its kin.

It wanted to ask them—

Why had they abandoned it?

Why had they left it behind?

However—

What filled Gible with despair was that no matter how far it walked through that icy world, it felt like there was never any end.

The scenery never changed.

At last—

Completely exhausted, Gible collapsed.

Even in despair.

Even in loneliness.

Gible still wanted to find the companions it had never once met.

Clenching its teeth, dragging its frozen claws across the icy ground, it continued onward until its consciousness gradually faded alongside the endless blizzard.

And faintly—

It seemed to hear a voice.

”You don’t need to be afraid anymore. If you’re willing… we’ll become your family from now on.”

The voice was incredibly warm.

Like a bonfire suddenly igniting amidst endless snow and ice.

…

”Are you sure Poipole’s going to come? We’ve been lying in ambush for almost an hour…”

”Masha.” (How would I know? It used to come every night.)

…

”Forget it. Dawn’s almost here. Maybe the courtyard’s too messy right now, so Poipole got scared and doesn’t dare show up. I’ll ask someone to clean things up tomorrow.”

”Masha.” (Do whatever you want.)

”Pika pika!” (You should go rest already!)

”Hehe, don’t worry, Pikachu. I can still manage. Has Gible not woken up yet?”

”Absol.” (Not yet.)

”Alright, alright, stop nagging. I know already. I’m going to sleep now. You guys should rest too later. Today’s training can be postponed a bit. And gengar—you stay here.”

”Gengui?” (Why me?)

”You’re a Ghost-type Pokémon. You don’t need much sleep anyway. I’ll leave Gible in your care today. The moment it wakes up, come notify me.”

”Gengui gengui!” (That’s unfair! This is discrimination against Ghost-types! We need rest too!)

”Cut it out. Don’t think I don’t know you secretly ate my dreams again recently. Consider this compensation.”

”Gengui… gengui!” (You noticed!? Wait, I was helping you! You looked so miserable, I was kindly relieving you!)

”Say whatever you want. Just remember to watch over Gible. I’m going to sleep.”

In the darkness—

Gible vaguely heard voices drifting toward it.

Slowly—

It opened its eyes.

What entered its vision was an unfamiliar scene.

”Gaao…”

Everything around it was strange and incomprehensible, making Gible instinctively uneasy.

Just as it tried to get up—

It realized a thick blanket had been wrapped around its body, and nearby, some strange machine was blowing warm air toward it.

Warm…

The wind was warm too.

After hesitating for a moment, Gible pushed away the blanket and hopped off the sofa.

Then—

Through the glass window nearby, beneath the morning sunlight, Gible saw the ruined backyard.

Its memories instantly resurfaced.

And finally stopped on the image of the human whose arm it had bitten open.

Gible wasn’t particularly smart.

But it wasn’t stupid either.

The Pokémon it attacked…

Didn’t actually seem to want to hurt it.

And it…

Had probably made a terrible mistake.

At that moment—

As Gible turned around, it suddenly noticed numerous photographs hanging on the wall.

Several Pokémon in those pictures were ones it had already met before.

And without exception—

All of them stood closely gathered around that human it had injured.

”Gaao…”

Gible stared at the photos for a long while.

Then it turned around.

Using the natural digging instincts of the Gible line, it tunneled through the floor, dug a passage underground—

And silently escaped from the villa.

Meanwhile—

gengar, who had been secretly observing from the shadows, revealed itself and hesitated briefly before quietly following after it.

The moment Gible woke up, gengar had actually gone upstairs to Chen Mo’s room.

It had intended to wake him.

But seeing Chen Mo’s exhausted face—and because it still wasn’t very fond of Gible—gengar ultimately decided not to disturb him.

Of course—

Dislike was one thing.

gengar still understood Chen Mo’s intentions.

Sooner or later, Gible would become part of the team.

To prevent it from causing even bigger trouble, gengar felt it had no choice but to follow along.

”Pika pika!”

A voice suddenly called out from nearby.

gengar turned around.

Aside from Magikarp in the pond, the rest of the team—led by Pikachu—stood at the villa entrance as if they had already anticipated this.

—

Meanwhile—

After leaving the villa, Gible resurfaced from underground.

Just like A Yuan’s Espurr before it, Gible instinctively wanted to escape into the forest after believing it had done something wrong.

However—

The villa district was enormous.

All the houses looked exactly the same to Gible, and with so many roads crossing everywhere, wandering through the area felt like traversing a maze.

Fortunately—

Gible had only just been born.

The unfamiliar surroundings also sparked its curiosity, so it wasn’t especially anxious.

After wandering around for over an hour, Gible finally left the villa district.

But the endless skyscrapers outside only made it feel even more confused—and somewhat frightened.

”Huh!? A Pokémon I’ve never seen before…”

Walking through Anping City’s streets, Gible’s unique appearance quickly attracted attention from passersby.

Just as someone pulled out their phone and prepared to take a photo, another passerby who recognized Gible hurriedly stopped them.

”Dude, are you trying to die? That’s Gible! A Pokémon so fierce even Teacher Mo couldn’t handle it properly. Get any closer and it might bite you.”

”Huh? That scary?”

Hearing this was a Pokémon even Chen Mo struggled with, the man immediately froze and no longer dared approach.

Since it was the weekend, there were many trainers out walking their Pokémon nearby, and soon a crowd formed around Gible.

”So it really is Gible…”

”That’s weird. Why would a Gible suddenly appear downtown? Don’t get too close, everyone. I already called the police. This is dangerous.”

”I heard Teacher Mo got bitten by a newborn Gible yesterday and both his hands were crippled?”

”That’s exaggerated. But Teacher Mo did get injured… Wait… could this be his Gible?”

”…Honestly, I think it is.”

”Maybe Teacher Mo released it? Heh, it’s a pseudo-legendary baby. Violent, sure, but if you build a bond properly, it could become an amazing partner.”

”Forget whether Teacher Mo would ever release it. If even Teacher Mo thought Gible was too violent and impossible to handle, do you really think you could do better than him?”

The crowd chatted among themselves but didn’t dare approach too closely.

The Pokémon beside the trainers also watched Gible curiously—

Though beneath that curiosity was obvious caution.

”Gaao…”

Being surrounded and scrutinized like this made Gible deeply uncomfortable.

It could vaguely sense—

These humans strongly rejected it.

And the Pokémon around them, despite their curiosity, remained highly wary.

”Gaao…”

Under all those gazes, Gible became increasingly panicked and lost.

At that moment—

A sharp cry suddenly echoed through the sky.

The crowd looked up immediately.

A large Pidgeotto was circling high above the city.

”Even Pidgeotto’s here. That really is Teacher Mo’s Gible.”

”Huh!? Gible’s running away!”

Using the distraction created by Pidgeotto, Gible finally couldn’t endure it anymore.

It dug straight underground and escaped amidst the crowd’s startled shouting.

If Chen Mo had used Detection Eye at that moment, he would’ve been shocked to discover—

Gible had unconsciously learned the move Dig.

After tunneling for who knew how long—

Feeling it had finally escaped those strange humans, Gible resurfaced again.

This time, it was much more careful.

Instead of bursting upward loudly, it only opened a tiny hole in the ground and cautiously poked out half its head to observe the surroundings.

”Gaao…”

Though skyscrapers still surrounded it, at least there were no humans nearby.

Quietly relieved, Gible climbed fully out of the ground.

Then—

The moment it turned around—

Its entire body froze.

A pair of curious red eyes stared directly at it from less than ten centimeters away.

”Kib?”

A confused cry came from the mouth of a small dragon Pokémon with huge tusks.

Gible panicked instantly.

”GAAAO!”

Instinctively—

It slammed forward headfirst.

Completely unprepared, Axew took the hit directly to the chest.

The poor little dragon instantly collapsed to its knees, clutching the injured area with its tiny arms, face twisted in agony.

”KIBAAA!”

Hearing Axew’s painful cries, Gible immediately realized—

It had made another mistake.

”Gaao…”

Panicking, Gible wanted to apologize—

But at that moment, hurried footsteps approached alongside an anxious voice.

”Axew! Axew, what happened!?”

Looking once at Axew, then hearing the rapidly approaching footsteps, Gible once again followed its instincts and fled underground through the hole it had just dug.

At the same time—

A short-haired girl arrived in the alley.

Seeing Axew kneeling on the ground clutching its chest, Mo Yu’s expression changed immediately as she hurried over and picked it up.

”Axew, what happened?”

”Kiba…”

Upon seeing its trainer, all of Axew’s grievances instantly burst forth as it threw itself into Mo Yu’s arms, tears streaming endlessly.

After listening to Axew’s sobbing explanation, Mo Yu looked utterly bewildered.

”So you’re saying… a shark suddenly popped out of the ground and attacked you without warning?”

”KIBA!”

Axew nodded furiously.

It had just been walking peacefully when it heard noises underground.

Curious, it looked over—

Then suddenly a shark burst out of the earth.

And then…

It got attacked!

”…I see.”

A thoughtful look appeared on Mo Yu’s face.

A little shark Pokémon.

The only likely possibility in Anping City was Teacher Mo’s Gible.

After realizing that, Mo Yu glanced at the hole Gible had dug before comforting Axew.

”Alright, alright, I know you’re upset. How about this? I’ll take you to the Pokémon Medical Center for a check-up first, then afterward I’ll buy you your favorite fried cutlet, okay?”

”KIBA!”

At those words, Axew’s eyes immediately lit up.

Its chest didn’t hurt anymore.

The entire little dragon perked right up.

”You…”

Mo Yu shook her head helplessly, but just to be safe, still carried Axew toward the Pokémon Medical Center.

Once they were gone—

Gible slowly crawled back out of the hole.

After all the running around, it was exhausted too.

Leaning against a wall in the shadows, it looked lonely and dejected.

Ever since arriving in this city—

Every Pokémon it had seen had a trainer beside them.

Only it—

Was alone.

”Grr…”

Its stomach growled loudly.

Having never eaten since birth, Gible now felt overwhelming hunger.

Fried cutlet…

Gible recalled the conversation between that trainer and Axew.

It recalled everything that had happened since birth.

It recalled the photographs hanging on the wall.

Silent.

A cold breeze passed by.

So cold.

Gible curled itself into a ball.

It didn’t really like this world.

”Rumble…”

A soft rolling sound suddenly came from nearby.

Gible froze.

A bright red apple slowly rolled to a stop beside it.

Looking up—

A large purple-black face with a goofy grin and bright white teeth stood beneath the sunlight, smiling warmly at it.

”Gengui!” (Eat up already!)

”Gaao…”

Gible didn’t understand.

Just yesterday, it had attacked this gengar.

So why was it suddenly bringing food to it now?

”Gengui! Gengui gengui!” (Have an apple first to fill your stomach! It’ll be lunchtime soon anyway. You’ve played enough now, right? Time to come home!)

gengar continued smiling brightly.

Behind it—

Several familiar figures slowly emerged.

Pikachu.

Pidgeotto.

Absol…

They too stood beneath the sunlight, looking at Gible with warm, welcoming expressions.

For some reason—

As Gible stared at the apple before it, it suddenly felt something uncontrollable welling up in its eyes.

Seeing this—

Absol slowly walked forward and gently nudged the sitting Gible with its horn.

”Absol.” (Let’s go home together.)

”Gaao…” (Why…?)

Gible looked utterly confused.

Absol’s expression softened with unprecedented warmth.

”Absol.” (Because we’re family. We’re companions. That was decided long before you were even born. Welcome to this world. We’ve been waiting for you for a very long time.)
