Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Although the series of disasters caused by the Unown—or rather, Giratina—had temporarily come to an end, there was still plenty of aftermath to deal with.

Chen Mo had originally planned to return to Anping City within the next couple of days. But after thinking it over, he decided to stay.

Even with Milotic and Gyarados helping, there were still a large number of wild Pokémon injured during the chaos before Giratina’s phantom attacked him.

By remaining at the camp, Chen Mo could assist official rescue teams in saving injured wild Pokémon, while also taking the opportunity to greatly expand his Pokédex.

Besides, according to Professor Zhou, progress on medical device development had slowed due to recent events in Mount Cangqing. Even if Chen Mo returned now, he likely wouldn’t be able to properly examine that Pokémon egg.

So it made more sense to stay here for the time being and return to Anping City together with Professor Zhou and the others once things settled down.

However—

After staying up all night, and with his previous injuries from the mysterious ruins still not fully healed, Chen Mo was strongly urged by Professor Zhou and the others to undergo a full check-up at the medical station with the Chansey line.

Finding no major issues, he was promptly sent to the rest area.

”I understand your passion for Pokémon,” the man in the white coat said calmly, hands in his pockets. ”But right now, the most important thing for you is rest. Leave everything else to us.”

Seeing this—

Already feeling exhausted, Chen Mo didn’t argue.

After resting for five or six hours, he woke up to news that the entire exploration team—led by Director Hu and Miss Jun—had regained consciousness.

”White bubbles that seem to represent different worlds? And completely black ones that look ’dead,’ emitting a strange aura?”

As soon as he woke up, Director Hu dropped a bombshell.

And it wasn’t just him—many team members who had remained conscious inside the space-time rift reported seeing the same phenomenon.

Chen Mo, however, remained calm.

Not to mention that the Pokémon setting itself already featured multiple parallel worlds—

Even before his transmigration, Chen Mo had heard that, according to official lore expansions, the true Arceus existed on a multiversal level. All the Arceus seen across parallel worlds—including those captured by players in the games—were merely avatars. Its true form had never appeared.

From that perspective, a universe filled with countless worlds like stars wasn’t hard to accept.

The only thing worth noting—

Was the black bubbles emitting that eerie aura.

But honestly—

Even if those bubbles really represented entire worlds, so what?

They hadn’t even fully understood the legendary Pokémon already present in their own world. They simply weren’t in a position to deal with matters on that level.

So rather than worrying about the distant unknown, it was better to focus on the present.

”Professor Zhou, is streaming allowed in the camp?”

After leaving Director Hu’s resting area, Chen Mo suddenly asked.

Professor Zhou paused, then replied in a teasing tone,

”Your fans have already flooded our official account asking about you. If you don’t show up soon, I feel like they might organize a group trip to storm Mount Cangqing.”

”…”

”Streaming is fine. There aren’t any restrictions here—go ahead.”

Professor Zhou had already guessed Chen Mo’s intention.

”You want to use this chance to introduce new Pokémon to your audience, right?”

”Mm.”

Chen Mo nodded.

Although he already had enough ”science points,” with so many wild Pokémon being brought into the medical station, it was basically free points—no reason not to earn them.

With Yi Ge absent, Chen Mo once again took on the role of cameraman himself.

There had been no announcement, but the moment he started the stream, viewership skyrocketed at an astonishing rate. The chat flooded instantly.

[Oh? You finally decided to come back?]

[Grandpa! The streamer you follow finally went live!]

[If the officials hadn’t said you were safe, I would’ve thought something really happened.]

[Seriously, at least say something in the group! I was worried sick—I didn’t sleep at all last night.]

[Classic amateur streamer behavior.]

[The news said you handled this whole incident alone—is that true?]

[Of course! Every report calls him a hero! We may not know everything, but the official livestream clearly showed him commanding Pokémon against fake Suicune. That alone is beyond heroic.]

[Welcome back, Teacher Mo.]

The chat varied in tone—sarcastic, emotional, even slightly annoyed—but aside from a few exceptions, it was all concern.

Chen Mo didn’t really have a defense.

Fighting Suicune had been a last-minute decision after seeing Unown P’s condition—he hadn’t thought about streaming.

And inside the underground ruins, there had been no signal at all until the massive crater was blasted open. Even calls couldn’t go through, let alone a livestream.

As for not reassuring his fans…

That was on him.

Too much had happened, and it had slipped his mind.

After repeatedly apologizing, the chat finally moved on—especially after Chen Mo summoned gengar from the shadow world.

”gengar!”

The plump purple Pokémon appeared, raising its stubby arms high!

If gengar’s triangular eyes and ghostly look could still feel eerie, gengar’s round body and ever-present grin gave off a strangely endearing vibe instead.

[So… so cute…]

[I checked the Pokédex before and saw gengar’s evolution, but seeing your gengar… it’s ridiculously adorable!]

[gengar is just too cute!]

[You blink and it’s already evolved! Just keep streaming all the time, okay? Missing that evolution was devastating! Actually, just lend me your gengar for two days and I’ll forgive you.]

[Dream on—if lending is allowed, I want Pikachu!]

[I’ll take Absol. That fluffy fur… I’ve wanted to pet it forever.]

[You all lack vision—I want them all!]

”Sorry, my Pokémon are not for loan.”

Chen Mo smiled, rubbing gengar’s head.

”Alright, as I mentioned earlier, today’s stream is to check out the rescue station and introduce some Pokémon.”

There were more injured wild Pokémon than expected.

With a constant influx, the original facilities were insufficient. Professor Zhou had ordered additional areas cleared to accommodate them.

At this point, nearly a quarter of the camp had been turned into treatment zones.

As Chen Mo walked through, he quickly encountered many Pokémon he hadn’t introduced before.

”…This Pokémon here, which looks like a giraffe, is called Girafarig. Quite fitting, right? Historically, giraffes were sometimes mistaken for qilin.”

”Besides its name, Girafarig is quite interesting. Notice how its front and back halves have almost completely opposite colors and patterns.”

”There’s actually a reason for that.”

As he spoke, Chen Mo moved behind a Girafarig lying on a bed.

”Pika pika?”

Pikachu, perched on his shoulder, stared curiously at Girafarig’s short tail—

More precisely, the small black orb at the end.

On that orb was a strange face: round eyes and a wide grin full of white teeth, much like gengar’s.

Driven by curiosity, Pikachu hopped down and slowly reached out a paw.

Just as it got within a centimeter—

Something changed.

The smiling orb suddenly opened its mouth. Its harmless teeth transformed into sharp fangs, snapping toward Pikachu.

”Pika!”

Chen Mo quickly pulled Pikachu back, narrowly avoiding the bite.

[WHAT?! That face isn’t decoration?!]

[What kind of weird creature is this…]

[Look at Girafarig’s main face—it looks apologetic…]

[Yeah, like it didn’t mean to bite?]

Chen Mo glanced at the chat and smiled.

”It might really not have been intentional—well, not by the main head.”

”As some of you guessed, Girafarig’s distinct front and back halves represent two different consciousnesses within its body.”

”Sounds fascinating, right?”

”However, the tail head is underdeveloped and can’t think properly. So no, they don’t argue—it wouldn’t understand anyway.”

[LOL, so the big head gets mad but the little one doesn’t even get it]

[That mental image is hilarious]

[Then what’s the point of the small head? Seems useless]

Chen Mo wasn’t surprised by that reaction.

”This ’little head’ is actually very important.”

”Research shows that many of Girafarig’s Psychic-type moves are released from the tail head.”

”The main head gives commands, and the tail executes them. Since it’s positioned at the back, Girafarig can easily counter attacks from behind.”

”Also, since it doesn’t think, it doesn’t need sleep. When the main head rests, the tail head—highly sensitive to smells—keeps watch.”

”So the two heads complement each other. Neither can be missing if Girafarig wants to survive in the wild.”

Chen Mo paused, then added softly:

”The same applies to trainers and Pokémon.”

”I know many people are starting to interact with and even raise Pokémon.”

”But when a Pokémon entrusts its life to you, it’s like that small head handing over all decision-making to the big head.”

”Your choices determine its future.”

”And your intentions determine how strong you can become—together.”
