This was a mysterious and wondrous space.

Deep blue and dark purple energies intertwined and flowed within it, while bubble-like White dots of light drifted throughout.

Hu Chengliang quietly watched as one of the white light points—which had been drifting toward him—suddenly veered away again. He let out a heavy sigh.

Ever since the Unown had brought him into this strange space, he had been like a piece of floating duckweed, completely unable to control his body as he drifted aimlessly.

”I wonder what’s happening outside…”

In this place, he had no way of measuring time.

He grew exhausted far too easily.

Every time he woke up, within less than an hour, overwhelming fatigue would wash over him, forcing him back into sleep.

Over and over again.

His sense of time had long since blurred.

Just then—

Another white light drifted closer, pulling him out of his thoughts.

”Good… it’s coming closer!”

This time, the light didn’t suddenly change direction like before.

It kept approaching.

Finally—

The massive white light reached him.

Unable to wait any longer, Hu Chengliang immediately looked inside it.

Endless blue ocean.

Nothing else.

”So this one… looks like a normal sea…”

The light soon drifted away.

But Hu Chengliang fell into deep thought.

He had already seen twenty or thirty such lights.

Each one revealed a completely different scene.

Some were so twisted and bizarre they didn’t seem like normal worlds at all.

”…Other worlds?”

He gazed at the countless white lights scattered like stars.

If each represented a world—

Then was their world also among them?

He didn’t know.

After all—

He was a biologist.

Not a physicist.

Time, space—these weren’t his field.

Just as he was thinking—

Suddenly—

A massive black ”bubble” drifted into view.

”…?”

Sensing something wrong, he looked up.

Within it—

Endless darkness.

As if everything had been swallowed.

A chill ran down his spine.

”…Is that… also a world?”

Even the strangest worlds he’d seen—

Didn’t compare to this.

The black bubble soon drifted away.

Leaving him frozen in place.

Then—

Fatigue hit again.

”…Time to sleep…”

…

Meanwhile—

Inside the ruined underground ruins.

At Chen Mo’s request—

The Unown immediately agreed.

They gathered—

Energy surged—

And space itself rippled.

A rift tore open—

Revealing deep blue and purple light.

Then—

Large numbers of Unown poured into the space-time rift.

Chen Mo watched calmly.

Just like in Spell of the Unown—

If they could send people in—

They could bring them back.

Now—

All he could do was wait.

With nothing else to do—

He walked toward a still-standing wall.

Moments later—

He turned back.

”…Nope.”

Unlike the murals in the Aether ruins—

These ancient texts were unreadable.

”Pika pi.”

Pikachu tugged him.

”What is it?”

Following its gaze—

He saw Haunter.

Floating under the moonlight.

Facing away.

”…Hmm?”

Chen Mo smiled.

”Still mad at me?”

Haunter turned—

Shook its head quickly.

”Geh! Geh geh!”

”…Something’s calling you?”

Chen Mo frowned.

He looked toward the direction.

That place—

Was the platform where Giratina attacked.

Now—

Ruins.

What could be there?

Just as he wondered—

A voice echoed in his mind.

”It’s Giratina’s residual energy.”

”It’s created a special environment.”

”Your Haunter… feels an opportunity to evolve.”

Chen Mo froze.

Then—

Excitement surged.

He had thought before—

Haunter might need a special condition to evolve.

But now—

The chance was here.

Giratina—

A Ghost/Dragon Legendary.

Its energy—

Could trigger evolution.

”…This is huge.”

But—

Marshadow continued:

”I know you’re excited.”

”But think carefully.”

”That energy is extremely violent.”

”Haunter might not withstand it.”

”….”

Chen Mo paused.

At the same time—

Haunter floated forward.

Its usual playful expression—

Gone.

Serious.

”Geh.”

For Haunter—

Evolution had never mattered much.

In the past—

It had many chances.

But never took them.

It didn’t need power.

No predators.

No urgency.

But—

After meeting Chen Mo—

Everything changed.

Especially—

After Hydreigon.

It realized—

It wasn’t strong enough.

Sometimes—

In Chen Mo’s shadow—

It felt his anxiety.

And thought—

”If I had evolved earlier…”

”I could protect him better.”

So now—

It wouldn’t hesitate.

”Geh!”

It understood the risk.

But if it couldn’t even endure this—

How could it face Legendary Pokémon?

”….”

In Chen Mo’s shadow—

Orange-red eyes appeared.

Marshadow watched silently.

…Interesting.

Then—

Chen Mo spoke:

”Marshadow… can you help?”

”…Ma…”

Marshadow already knew.

Of course.

Giratina and Marshadow—

Both Ghost-types.

Though weaker—

It could stabilize things.

Marshadow sighed.

Fine.

If Haunter lost control—

It’d look suspicious.

So—

It rose from the shadows.

”Pikachu!”

Pikachu greeted it excitedly.

Pidgeotto watched carefully.

It sensed danger.

Absol—

Felt something familiar.

Marshadow felt… awkward.

Then said:

”I can’t guarantee success.”

”I can only intervene if it loses control.”

”If I do—evolution fails.”

”That’s enough.”

Chen Mo nodded.

Safety first.

”Thank you.”

”Pika!”

Haunter and Marshadow floated toward the ruins.

Chen Mo watched—

Nervous.

Energy—

Was gathering.

Dark red.

Giratina’s aura.

Haunter—

Glowed white.

Evolution began.

”Not enough…”

Inside the light—

Haunter absorbed everything.

More.

”…Ma…”

Marshadow frowned.

Something was wrong.

Haunter—

Had too much foundation.

It didn’t need this much energy.

More energy—

More power—

But also—

More risk.

”…Idiot!”

Marshadow moved to intervene.

Green flames surged.

It reached out—

To pull Haunter back—

But—

Its expression changed.

Its power—

Was being absorbed.

By Haunter.

”…What!?”

The evolution light intensified.

A massive body—

Formed.

Eyes—

Turning red.

A violent aura—

Exploded outward.

”Gengaaaar!!!”
