Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Over the next few days, Chen Mo stayed busy alongside the rescue teams in Mount Cangqing, treating injured Pokémon while also introducing newly encountered species to his viewers.

Fortunately, Chen Mo had previously handed over formulas for healing medicine to the authorities. With large quantities of supplies being transported in—and with the help of the Chansey line—most injured Pokémon recovered within just two or three days.

By Chengying Lake—

Chen Mo waited patiently.

Before long, a red fish Pokémon with a crown-like fin slowly swam to the shore.

”Magikarp, did you find it?”

Chen Mo crouched down and asked softly.

The Magikarp shook its head, then blew a string of bubbles.

”Blub blub.”

”I see…”

Chen Mo looked a bit disappointed.

He had come to the lake to say goodbye to the Gyarados here.

Although his first impression of Gyarados hadn’t been great, after spending time together, Chen Mo’s opinion had completely changed.

Since he was about to leave Mount Cangqing, he thought it only right to say farewell—especially since Gyarados had, in a way, acted as a mentor to Magikarp.

But unexpectedly—

For two consecutive days, Magikarp couldn’t find Gyarados anywhere.

This wasn’t Milotic, who liked to hide away. Gyarados was usually restless, constantly swimming around the lake.

Its absence made no sense.

Behind him, Yi Ge filmed Chen Mo’s puzzled expression.

The livestream chat buzzed.

[What if… Gyarados left with Milotic?]

[No way. It got beaten half to death before—it’s probably traumatized.]

[Think about it—Milotic is basically a top-tier beauty in the Pokémon world. Good looks, elegant, usually gentle… same egg group too… you get what I mean.]

[…You’re saying Gyarados took a beating and got a wife out of it?]

[Would Milotic even like Gyarados?]

[If I were Gyarados, I’d stay. King of the lake, living the good life.]

Chen Mo thought about it.

There was some logic there.

As the ruler of Chengying Lake, Gyarados lived a dominant life.

But—

It was also alone.

Before, it had gone out of its way to teach Magikarp just to have someone to interact with.

From that angle…

It wasn’t impossible that it left with Milotic.

Chen Mo stroked his chin, imagining the two together.

…Quite a picture.

”You’re here after all.”

A voice came from behind.

Chen Mo turned to see Director Hu approaching quickly, drenched in sweat, accompanied by two officers.

Noticing his expression, Chen Mo frowned.

”What’s wrong?”

”There’s… something strange. We need your help.”

Hu Chengliang said, catching his breath.

”Another water monkey situation?”

Chen Mo joked.

Recently, after discovering Pansage, he had informed Professor Zhou about his idea.

Soon after, someone reported spotting ”water monkeys.”

Hu Chengliang had rushed there immediately—

And found Panpour.

Though the process was rocky (Panpour initially attacked, thinking they were hostile), they were eventually brought back with help from Growlithe and Pansage.

Now—

They had Grass and Water.

Only Fire remained.

Unfortunately, after checking, there were no Pansear in Mount Cangqing.

Still—

That wasn’t urgent.

Compared to the others, Pansear would be the easiest to locate—just search volcanic regions nationwide.

”This has nothing to do with Panpour.”

Hu Chengliang said seriously.

”The third camp was preparing to evacuate… and suddenly got surrounded by a group of Pokémon.”

”What?!”

Chen Mo’s expression changed.

”Is it serious? Any idea why?”

”Don’t panic.”

”…You just said they’re surrounded.”

Hu sighed, then continued:

”They haven’t attacked. They’re just blocking the camp. Even when people tried to leave, they didn’t react.”

”It feels like… they want something from us.”

Chen Mo nodded.

Communication had always been a major hurdle.

Unlike Chen Mo—who, thanks to his partial Aura ability, could roughly understand Pokémon—others struggled greatly.

On the way to the third camp—

Chen Mo suddenly realized something.

”What Pokémon are they?”

”…Ah, right.”

Hu quickly pulled out his phone.

”This is what I saw.”

On the screen—

A black, dog-like Pokémon with a short tail, orange-red underbelly, and bone-like ridges on its back.

”This is… Houndour?”

Earlier, when advising on forming a Pokémon combat unit, Chen Mo had recommended several species.

Houndour was one of them.

”…Houndour are pack Pokémon, and quite special among them.”

”They have excellent teamwork.”

”Most group Pokémon cooperate loosely—but Houndour communicate through distinct howls and signals, coordinating precise hunting formations.”

”They assign positions, surround prey, and slowly corner it.”

”This level of coordination is rare.”

”They’re also quite aggressive. If you encounter them in the wild, exercise caution—or contact authorities.”

The chat grew tense.

[So the camp is in danger?!]

[They’re waiting for the right moment to attack…]

Chen Mo shook his head.

”You misunderstood.”

”This group clearly isn’t hunting.”

”If they were, they wouldn’t let prey move freely—or allow photos at close range.”

Houndour were Dark/Fire-type Pokémon.

While not all Dark-types were malicious, many had rough temperaments.

Houndour often appeared as ”villain Pokémon” for a reason.

However—

They had one defining trait:

Loyalty.

Once they recognized a trainer, they would obey completely.

This made them popular among… less-than-ethical trainers.

And also—

A good candidate for official combat units.

Another reason?

Their type advantage.

Dark-types were effective against Ghost-types—

Which posed a far greater threat to humanity.

Even if large-scale Ghost incidents hadn’t happened yet—

Preparation mattered.

A Houndour unit would be invaluable.

Soon, the third camp came into view.

From afar—

Dozens of black Houndour formed a circular perimeter, surrounding the entire camp.

Someone inside spotted Chen Mo and ran out—

But the Houndour simply glanced, then ignored them.

At that moment—

Chen Mo noticed something odd.

”…Where are the Houndoom?”
