”Quaaack!!!”

Psyduck staggered forward, wildly flailing its arms like a drowning creature struggling for survival.

”Pika…”

Pikachu gradually lowered its guard, watching curiously.

Soon—

Seeing Psyduck in such extreme distress, Pikachu couldn’t help but feel a bit of sympathy.

Just as it was about to jump down to help—

Chen Mo suddenly shouted:

”Get back!”

The moment his words fell—

Psyduck finally stopped.

[Its eyes suddenly look really sharp…]

[I feel like something’s about to happen.]

[Didn’t Teacher Mo say before? When Psyduck’s headaches build up too much, it unleashes uncontrollable power.]

[HOLY—Yi-ge, why are you still filming!?]

Yi-ge, who had already released Xatu, remained calm, continuing to film.

Under the camera—

Psyduck clutched its head and shut its eyes tight.

Inside its still-open beak, a long, black shape could be seen writhing—as if it sensed imminent danger.

”QUAAACK!!!”

A blue light burst from Psyduck’s suddenly opened eyes.

A powerful psychic force enveloped its body, rapidly expanding into a blue sphere centered on Psyduck.

A wave of danger surged outward.

Standing in the wind, Yi-ge remained composed.

With a sharp cry—

Another surge of energy descended, wrapping around him. Before the blue sphere could reach him—

He vanished.

When he reappeared—

He was already beside Chen Mo, still carrying the camera.

Watching the whole thing, Chen Mo muttered:

”…That’s insane.”

”….”

Yi-ge remained expressionless.

”The thing stuck in Psyduck’s throat is an Unown.”

”An Unown?”

Chen Mo froze.

”Mm.”

Yi-ge nodded.

Ahead—

Psyduck collapsed onto the ground with a thud, the terrain around it devastated by psychic power.

At the same time—

As Chen Mo approached, he saw that the object lodged in Psyduck’s mouth had fallen out, lying beside its head.

A black, elongated body.

And a single, iconic eye.

The chat erupted.

[It really is Unown…]

[How did something that big get stuck in Psyduck’s mouth!?]

[Wait—this looks familiar… isn’t this the Unown ”P” from before?]

[Yeah, it is! I checked screenshots.]

[But why is Unown here? Weren’t they supposed to live in ruins or time-space gaps?]

Chen Mo crouched down, frowning as he examined it.

He poked it lightly.

No response.

Using his [Detection Eye], he confirmed his suspicion.

”This Unown… was hit by Psyduck’s attack just now. It’s currently unconscious.”

[WHAT!?]

[But its eye is still open!]

[Look closely—the black pupil is gone. That probably means it’s unconscious.]

While the chat debated—

Chen Mo suddenly noticed something.

Milotic had disappeared again.

At the same time—

Xatu beside Yi-ge slowly raised its head, staring in a particular direction.

”What is it?”

Yi-ge frowned slightly.

Before Xatu could respond—

A deep rumbling sound echoed overhead.

They looked up.

Transport helicopters—one after another—were flying rapidly toward the direction Xatu had been staring at.

Both men felt their hearts sink.

”I’ll make a call.”

Yi-ge cut the stream and grabbed his phone.

Chen Mo did the same, calling Professor Zhou.

After several rings—

The call connected.

As Chen Mo listened—

His expression darkened.

A mysterious ruin.

A missing investigation team.

Expanding purple crystals.

”…At the current rate, the crystals will engulf all of Cangqing Mountain within a week.”

Professor Zhou’s tired voice came through.

”Xiao Mo, you’re still at Chengying Lake, right? For safety, pack up and evacuate by tomorrow night.”

Chen Mo didn’t respond immediately.

After a pause, he looked at the unconscious Unown and asked:

”Professor Zhou… is there a large body of water near the ruins?”

”…Yes.”

”And during the crystal expansion—are water areas the only places unaffected?”

”…Yes.”

”…I see.”

”Xiao Mo, do you know what these crystals are?”

Professor Zhou’s voice carried hope.

Chen Mo smiled bitterly.

”I only know a little… but these crystals are most likely the power of Unown.”

In the original movie Spell of the Unown, countless Unown responded to a girl’s heart and created Entei—

Along with a world of expanding purple crystals.

Some theories suggested—

The crystals represented her closed-off heart.

When her heart opened, the crystals disappeared.

But—

This situation was different.

There was no lonely child here.

After a pause, Chen Mo said seriously:

”Professor Zhou… I want to join the operation.”

”….”

A long silence.

”Don’t take risks.”

”I understand.”

Meanwhile, Yi-ge—having just finished his own call—looked at Chen Mo with a complicated expression.

Just yesterday—

Chen Mo had been talking about taking a break.

Now…

Noticing his gaze, Chen Mo simply smiled.

Then—

Professor Zhou spoke again.

”One more thing… one researcher, Lin Muxiu, managed to escape.”

”What!?”

Chen Mo was shocked.

”Did he say what happened inside?”

”…No.”

”He collapsed immediately after escaping. He hasn’t woken up yet. He has burn injuries—likely from Growlithe or Arcanine flames.”

…

According to Zhou—

The crystallization began near noon.

Within minutes, the ruins were completely engulfed.

Attempts to break the crystals failed—they regenerated instantly.

Then—

Flames erupted from inside the cave.

Soon after—

Lin Muxiu escaped through a melted path—

Collapsed—

And lost consciousness.

The current plan:

Wait for him to wake up.

Evacuate civilians.

Deploy the military.

As Chen Mo listened—

He packed his belongings.

”Absol, return.”

He recalled Absol into its Poké Ball.

Just as he reached for the egg—

Professor Zhou suddenly stopped speaking.

Noisy sounds filled the call.

”Professor Zhou?”

Chen Mo’s heart tightened.

Thankfully—

Zhou spoke again.

”We found something. Photos on Lin Muxiu’s phone… including Unown symbols.”

”Xiao Mo—you were right. This is related to Unown!”

”Send them to me.”

”Right away.”

Photos flooded in.

Chen Mo examined them on a second phone.

Soon—

A puzzle caught his eye.

Omanyte.

In that instant—

He thought of a place.

Ruins of Alph.

Famous for puzzle chambers—

Including Omanyte.

And—

Ho-Oh.

”…Could this be related to Ho-Oh?”

He recalled Suicune’s warning.

But—

Shaking his head—

”No… Ho-Oh wouldn’t do this.”

He flipped to the next image—

And froze.

A symbol.

Two concentric circles.

Connected by a triangle.

His pupils shrank.

He remembered.

Not Ho-Oh.

Another being.

Closely tied to Unown and ancient ruins.

A Legendary of immense stature.

”…The ruler of the Distortion World…”

”…Giratina.”
