[Talk about a sudden shift—Quagsire actually wants to battle Teacher Mo’s Pokémon? Is this really the same Quagsire that couldn’t even be bothered to close its mouth earlier?]

[Look at its expression—it’s serious.]

[Does this count as Teacher Mo being proven wrong? That doesn’t look harmless at all.]

[Eh, it’s still pretty polite though.]

In front of the camera, after making its request, the leading Quagsire placed its slippery hands over its belly and gave Chen Mo a slight bow.

Clearly, it had learned this gesture from humans.

Interesting.

A faint smile appeared on Chen Mo’s face.

Since arriving in this world, he had encountered Pokémon that attacked without warning—but this kind of situation was a first.

”Very well,” Chen Mo said calmly. ”I accept your challenge.”

”Ham!”

Hearing the response, Quagsire bowed again respectfully.

”Then, Quagsire,” Chen Mo asked with a smile, ”which of my Pokémon would you like to challenge?”

At that moment, even Haunter popped out from Chen Mo’s shadow, grinning mischievously at Quagsire.

”Ham…”

Quagsire fell into thought.

Its beady eyes skipped right past Haunter and settled on Pidgeotto and Absol behind.

Clearly—

Those two were its targets.

”Ham!”

After a moment of hesitation, it made its choice—pointing at the white Disaster Pokémon.

”Absol, huh…”

Chen Mo glanced down.

Absol silently sighed.

It had only taken one extra glance—and now it was dragged into this.

Maybe it shouldn’t have come out of its Poké Ball.

But under Chen Mo’s expectant gaze, Absol reluctantly nodded.

”Ham!”

Quagsire attacked first.

Gone was its polite demeanor—its expression turned fierce.

The moment the move formed, the livestream chat identified it instantly:

[Aqua Tail!]

Chen Mo reacted immediately.

”Night Slash!”

On land, Quagsire’s biggest weakness—

Was speed.

Even though Quagsire charged forward with all its might—

To Absol, it looked painfully slow.

”Absol…”

With a light leap—

Absol dodged effortlessly.

Then—

Seizing the opening—

It struck.

A clean, powerful slash.

”Ham!”

Quagsire was sent flying.

After a few rolls—

It collapsed at Chen Mo’s feet.

Silence.

Chen Mo: ”…”

Absol: ”…”

Chat: ”…”

[That’s it!?]

[I just opened my snacks and it’s over??]

[Fastest defeat in Pokémon history]

[I expected an epic battle…]

[This Quagsire… is not built for fighting]

[That speed… I could dodge that]

[Bro that’s too far]

[Feels staged LOL]

Even Chen Mo hadn’t expected this.

A Quagsire that could use Aqua Tail—

To go down this fast?

It really did look… suspicious.

The surrounding Wooper and Quagsire panicked.

They rushed out of the water, crowding around their fallen leader.

”Ham!” ”Woopa!” …

Chen Mo quickly stepped forward, carefully avoiding the Wooper.

”Don’t worry,” he said gently. ”It’s just fainted.”

He took out a spray Potion and treated the wounds.

”It’ll wake up soon.”

Gradually—

The group calmed down.

Moments later—

Quagsire opened its eyes.

”Ham?”

”You’re awake…”

Chen Mo sighed.

Then patted its smooth head.

”You’re not good at battling. Why challenge Absol?”

”Ham…”

Quagsire stood up—

And bowed deeply.

It wasn’t good at fighting.

Especially alone.

Normally—

Its kind fought as a group.

”This was your first solo battle, wasn’t it?”

Chen Mo asked softly.

”Ham!”

Quagsire nodded—

Then pointed upstream.

”Ham! Ham ham!”

The others began lining up—

Returning to the water.

Swimming upstream.

”…?”

Chen Mo blinked.

Quagsire walked ahead—

Then turned back and called to him.

”Ham! Ham!”

”You want me to follow?”

”Ham!”

”…Alright.”

Curiosity won.

Chen Mo agreed.

[He’s just going like that!?]

[What if it’s a trap!?]

[Relax, Pokémon are simple creatures]

They moved upstream.

The terrain grew narrower.

The current stronger.

After nearly an hour—

Quagsire stopped.

”Ham!”

Then led them ashore—

Into the forest.

Soon—

They reached a hidden lake.

”Everyone, look at those lily pads.”

Chen Mo pointed.

At first glance—

Nothing unusual.

But then—

The details became clear.

”They’re Pokémon,” Chen Mo explained.

”Lotad.”

”They live in clean water—and they’re very kind.”

”They’ll even ferry small Pokémon across using their lily pads.”

Right then—

A Lotad approached.

”Lota~”

Pikachu hesitated.

Before Chen Mo could finish—

Two figures leapt ashore.

”Ludicolo.”

They happily offered to carry Chen Mo across.

Pikachu rode a Lotad.

Chen Mo rode a Ludicolo.

The lake shimmered.

The breeze was gentle.

Chen Mo smiled.

”So this is what it feels like…”

Then—

He looked down.

”…My shoes are soaked.”

After getting off—

He sighed.

”Next time, I need a bigger Water-type…”

Lapras came to mind.

Then—

As he sat down—

Something caught his eye.

Among the rocks—

A gray-black scale—

Glistening in the sunlight.

Another one.
