As the ruler of Chengying Lake, Gyarados had always lived a carefree life.

When it was tired, it would find a comfortable spot at the bottom of the lake to rest. When it was hungry, it would casually hunt fish and shrimp nearby.

Such a leisurely existence—one it had never even enjoyed in its previous world.

But recently—

That peaceful life came to an abrupt halt.

Gyarados discovered that, at some unknown point, another powerful Pokémon had appeared in Chengying Lake.

That was… not a good sign.

Although the lake had abundant resources—enough to support ten or even twenty more large Pokémon—

To Gyarados, who had long grown used to ruling freely, Chengying Lake was its private territory.

Weaklings like Magikarp and Goldeen were one thing.

But this Milotic?

What was that supposed to mean?

Gyarados couldn’t sleep.

It tossed and turned at the bottom of the lake.

In its mind, this uninvited guest—Milotic—was almost certainly here to challenge its position as ruler.

However…

After arriving in this world, life had been too comfortable. With no survival pressure, Gyarados hadn’t fought a strong opponent in a long time.

Even its naturally violent temperament had mellowed somewhat.

So—

It hesitated.

While Gyarados struggled with the question of whether to fight—

It noticed something.

Milotic rarely moved.

Aside from eating, it mostly stayed quietly in one place, resting.

After observing for several days—

Gyarados finally relaxed.

Maybe… it had been overthinking.

Maybe Milotic wasn’t here to challenge it at all.

So—

Seeing that Milotic was ”well-behaved”… and also very beautiful—

Gyarados made a unilateral decision:

It allowed Milotic to stay.

With that mental burden gone—

Life returned to normal.

Eat. Sleep. Repeat.

Until one day—

A group of clueless Magikarp were flopping around, performing Splash.

And one of them—

Accidentally slammed right into Gyarados.

Instantly—

Gyarados snapped.

It didn’t consider Magikarp its kin.

And hitting its face?

Even if it were another Gyarados, it would still throw hands.

A terrifying pressure erupted.

Magikarp: ”o_o”

Looking at these brainless Magikarp—

Gyarados grew even angrier.

How the hell did I evolve from something this stupid…

Faint, embarrassing memories resurfaced.

For a moment—

It even felt like this lake shouldn’t have Magikarp at all.

Just as Gyarados was about to teach them a lesson—

Milotic appeared.

Gliding gracefully—

It placed itself between Gyarados and the Magikarp.

”Fuwu~”

A gentle, melodic sound.

Pink light spread outward—

Wrapping around Gyarados.

It was trying to stop it.

And it worked.

Gyarados calmed down.

After all, it hadn’t intended to massacre them anyway.

And besides—

If one of these Magikarp someday evolved…

It might finally have a true companion.

So the matter passed.

But—

Gyarados’s nature hadn’t changed.

Soon, something else triggered its temper.

It was about to unleash chaos—

When Milotic appeared again.

Same move.

Same result.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

Gyarados’s dissatisfaction began to build.

And strangely—

The more it was suppressed—

The easier it became to get angry.

Until finally—

Milotic’s calming power reached its limit.

And Gyarados—

Exploded.

The conflict was inevitable.

On the lake—

Milotic once again emitted pink light.

Still trying to calm it.

But—

”ROAR!!!”

Gyarados shattered the light again.

Just as everyone expected an attack—

Suddenly—

Gyarados rose higher into the air.

Closed its eyes.

Its body coiled and twisted—

White light enveloping it.

[What is it doing?]

[Charging up?]

[Some kind of ritual???]

Chen Mo explained:

”It’s using Dragon Dance.”

”This move doesn’t deal damage—but it boosts speed and power by awakening its internal strength.”

[So it’s buffing before the fight!]

[That’s actually smart]

[Milotic just letting it do this feels… risky]

Milotic watched.

Its expression grew serious.

”Fuwu!”

Finally—

It acted.

Psychic energy spread outward—

Forming Reflect barriers.

Then—

Water surged upward—

Creating layers of flowing defensive rings.

Chen Mo continued:

”Milotic isn’t attacking—it’s setting up defenses using Reflect and Water Ring.”

Then—

Gyarados finished buffing.

And roared:

You think this can stop me!?

BOOM!

It charged forward at terrifying speed—

Breaking through the first layer instantly.

Water Tail activated.

One swing—

The water defenses shattered.

”Gyarados is going all-in with close combat,” Chen Mo narrated.

It broke through.

Reached the Reflect barrier.

No hesitation.

Just one philosophy:

Charge.

The tail slammed into the barrier—

Water exploded outward.

But—

It wasn’t enough.

Milotic watched calmly.

Then—

With a simple motion—

It struck.

No technique.

No move.

Just raw physical force.

BANG!

Gyarados was sent flying.

Chen Mo sighed:

”That was just a normal tail strike… and it sent Gyarados flying.”

The chat erupted.

[MILOTIC IS INSANE]

[SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO STRONG]

[GYARADOS GOT DESTROYED]

But—

Gyarados rose again.

This time—

Its rage was overwhelming.

It opened its mouth—

Dragon energy gathered.

Dragon Pulse.

BOOM!

The attack hit.

Water exploded.

Visibility vanished.

Then—

The water fell.

Milotic remained—

Unharmed.

Eyes closed.

Something felt… off.

Then—

”FUWUU!!!”

This time—

The sound was cold.

Even Gyarados trembled.

But then—

It got angry again.

Milotic moved.

Faster than ever.

Water Tail vs Water Tail—

Collision.

Gyarados lost.

Instantly.

It was crushed.

Sent flying.

Again.

And again.

Now—

It wasn’t a fight.

It was a beating.

[This is terrifying…]

[I thought Milotic was gentle!?]

[This is brutal!!!]

Chen Mo fell silent.

Something wasn’t right.

This strength—

Was far beyond what he had been told.

Then—

He thought of something else.

The Chansey group from before.

Their strange behavior.

Too bold.

Too fearless.

Too… abnormal.

Something about this journey—

Didn’t add up.

Just then—

Yi-ge spoke:

”They’re getting closer.”

Chen Mo looked up.

The battle had moved from 1000 meters away—

To just 400–500 meters.

Now—

They could see everything clearly.

Gyarados was covered in wounds.

Barely holding on.

Still roaring defiantly.

Milotic gathered energy again.

Dragon Pulse.

Chen Mo frowned.

”If that lands… Gyarados might not survive.”

He turned—

Ready to recall Magikarp and retreat—

Then suddenly—

He froze.

The water near the shore—

Was empty.

His Magikarp—

Was gone.

Something—

Was about to happen.
