Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

After taking off his raincoat and sitting inside the tent, Chen Mo suddenly realized something.

When the three Blissey had handed out the eggs earlier, there had been six recipients present—Chen Mo, Yi-ge, Pikachu, and Haunter, two humans and two Pokémon.

But in the end—

Everyone received a Miraculous Egg… except Haunter.

At the time, Chen Mo hadn’t thought much of it.

But now, seeing Haunter staring longingly at the egg, practically drooling—

Chen Mo finally understood.

”Ke-heh!”

Noticing Chen Mo’s gaze, Haunter immediately clasped its little purple hands to its chest, putting on an innocent expression, as if nothing had happened.

”I’m not blaming you.”

Chen Mo shook his head helplessly.

”If you want to eat it, just say so. Eggs are meant to be eaten anyway.”

”Ke-heh!”

Haunter’s eyes lit up instantly. It floated behind Chen Mo and began enthusiastically massaging his shoulders, all while excitedly explaining how delicious the egg was—how it had tasted one long ago and never forgotten it.

Chen Mo: ”…”

So that’s why you were working so hard earlier…

Still, Chen Mo had already decided to give his egg to Haunter.

But just then—

Pikachu, who seemed to have understood something, suddenly ran over, picked up its own egg—which was almost as big as itself—and hurried toward them.

By the time Chen Mo reacted, Pikachu had already placed the egg down in front of Haunter.

Then—

It flashed a bright smile.

”Pika! Pika pika~”

The meaning was obvious.

Although Pikachu was curious about the taste, since Haunter liked it so much, it was willing to give its egg to its companion—who trained with it and played with it every day.

Haunter froze.

For a moment, looking at Pikachu’s smiling face, it was so moved it didn’t know what to say.

”Ke… ke-heh…”

Chen Mo smiled quietly at the teary-eyed Haunter, saying nothing.

Clack.

A Poké Ball opened nearby.

Yi-ge had finished setting up the camera and released Xatu again.

Seeing this, Chen Mo remembered his other Pokémon still inside their Poké Balls. He stood up and grabbed two of them.

The tent was large enough—this had been planned in advance.

It was better for everyone to stay together.

”Pidgeotto, Absol—come out.”

White light flashed.

Pidgeotto and Absol appeared.

”Bii!”

Though the enclosed space felt a bit cramped for Pidgeotto, it still happily rubbed its head against Chen Mo.

Absol glanced out at the rainy sky, sighed inwardly, and lay down in a comfortable corner.

After calming Pidgeotto, Chen Mo picked up the last Poké Ball and stepped outside.

Pulling on his raincoat again, Chen Mo jogged toward the lakeside.

The reason for choosing this campsite—

Was for Magikarp.

Click.

White light flashed.

A large red Magikarp, crowned like a king, appeared in the water.

”Magikarp, you can stay around here for now. Don’t go too far—we’ll have dinner soon.”

”Glub glub…”

Magikarp nodded.

It swished its tail and looked out over the vast lake.

This lake was far larger than Redleaf Lake—so vast it stretched beyond sight.

Chen Mo added:

”There are many Magikarp here. I’ve heard there’s also a very powerful Gyarados living in the center of the lake… though it rarely appears.”

”Glub…”

Magikarp responded calmly.

It had no interest in the other Magikarp.

And as for Gyarados—

Even less.

Chen Mo understood his Magikarp well and wasn’t worried.

The information about the Gyarados came from the Axew tribe—he had specifically gathered intel before the trip to avoid dangers like Hydreigon.

”Pika pika!”

From behind—

Pikachu called excitedly, waving its arms as if urging Chen Mo to come back.

Beside it, Haunter clutched the egg like treasure.

”Glub…”

Magikarp gently urged him to go.

Chen Mo looked up at the steady drizzle.

Then back at Magikarp.

”I’ll come check on you later.”

”Glub…”

Just as Chen Mo turned—

And Magikarp swished its tail, preparing to settle down—

BOOM!!!

A thunderous explosion echoed from the center of the lake.

Waves surged violently.

Magikarp froze, looking up.

In the distance—

A massive shadow burst from the water, twisting skyward.

A furious roar echoed across the lake.

Chen Mo, who had already turned back at the sound, stared at the scene—

His expression instantly turned serious.

”…No way.”
