Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Anping City, Saturday.

The weather was clear—perfect for going out.

”...So many people…”

Although she had already expected it, when Xiao Cai arrived at Hongjing Slope Forest Park with her camping gear, she was still stunned by the scene before her.

One phrase described it best—

A sea of people.

As a local, Xiao Cai had visited Hongjing Slope many times before, but even before Pokémon appeared in this world, she had never seen this place attract so many visitors at once.

”I’m seriously speechless. One hundred thousand in stock—and I missed it by one or two seconds!”

”Tell me about it. I thought my twenty-plus years of single life hand speed would guarantee me a Poké Ball, but I got nothing. Those guys definitely used bots!”

”I was planning to prepare Poké Balls and Potions before catching anything, and now everything’s gone. Scalpers bought them all—I saw Poké Balls going for over a thousand yuan online. Ridiculous!”

”Relax, they won’t sell. It’s just artificial inflation. Outside of Anping City, how many people even have Pokémon? Demand isn’t that high yet. And the officials already said the next batch is coming soon—bigger supply too. Let’s see those scalpers try again.”

”Wait, you’re not from Anping?”

”Nope, I’m from Mianyuan City next door. Right now, this is the only designated safe zone in the country, so I came here to try my luck. Hopefully more places like this open up soon.”

”You’re lucky. I came from another province…”

Xiao Cai listened quietly.

She had been lucky last night—she managed to grab both a Poké Ball and a Potion. They were now safely in her backpack.

Just then—

A loud shout came from behind.

”Holy sh*t!”

It immediately drew attention.

Xiao Cai turned around curiously.

At the back of the line, a short-haired young man in a white shirt walked over—

Beside him stood a massive creature resembling a stag beetle.

”That’s a huge… clamp bug!?”

”Clamp bug my ass—that’s a Pokémon!”

”That’s so cool!”

Although many people had brought their recently caught Pokémon, most were common species.

A Pokémon that hadn’t even appeared in Chen Mo’s streams—

Instantly became the center of attention.

Phones came out. Cameras clicked.

”Right—the Pokédex!”

Xiao Cai quickly pulled out her phone, opened the Pikachu-icon app, and entered scan mode.

She snapped a picture and uploaded it.

[Scanning…]

Soon—

Results appeared.

Among several images, one Pokémon showed a 99% match.

Pinsir.

Around her, others using voice mode heard:

[Pinsir — Stag Beetle Pokémon. Bug-type. Its horns are powerful enough to snap large trees. It prefers warm environments and feeds on tree sap.]

”Wow… so cool…”

Xiao Cai exclaimed.

She tried to scroll further, but—

[More data still under investigation…]

She sighed slightly.

Still, she understood.

There were too many Pokémon—no way everything could be fully documented yet.

Thanks to the Pokédex, she had also identified her brother’s Pokémon:

Munchlax.

A Pokémon that could eat food equal to its own body weight every day.

And according to her brother—

That Munchlax weighed over a hundred kilograms.

”…That’s terrifying…”

She felt a bit worried.

Feeding it at home was one thing.

But out in the wild, searching for Entei?

She didn’t even want to imagine it.

Nearby, the young man with Pinsir basked in envious gazes.

Not everyone was Chen Mo.

At this stage—

Even catching a Caterpie was impressive.

A Pokémon like Pinsir?

That was rare.

”Sorry, my Pinsir is pretty big. It might be in everyone’s way.”

The young man said modestly, lifting his shirt slightly to reveal a Poké Ball.

”Come back, Congcong.”

”Grii!”

Pinsir obediently returned in a flash of light.

”Dude, your luck is insane—Pinsir and a Poké Ball?”

”Seriously, I tried with my whole family and still failed…”

”Haha, just got lucky.”

Though he said that, the smug smile on his face betrayed him.

Soon, people urged him:

”Let it out again!”

”Tell us how you caught it!”

Under pressure, he complied and began telling his story.

He had found Pinsir injured in his yard, cared for it—

And it chose to stay.

”Man, that’s insane luck…”

”Anyone could’ve done it—if they had that luck.”

Xiao Cai watched closely.

Pinsir looked nervous under all the attention.

But—

The young man gently placed a hand on its back.

Slowly, Pinsir calmed down.

At that moment, Xiao Cai realized—

Luck mattered.

But what truly made Pinsir stay—

Was warmth.

”No wonder Chen Mo always says… connection is the most important thing…”

She turned away and continued waiting.

Eventually—

She entered the forest.

With a rescue device in hand and instructions given, she stepped into Hongjing Slope for the first time.

”Let’s find a quiet place to camp first.”

Near the entrance, there were too many people—and barely any Pokémon left.

So she followed a guide map deeper inside.

The further she went—

The quieter it became.

Rustling leaves. Insect calls.

And Pokémon—

Appearing briefly, then vanishing.

”Ah! A Rattata!”

”So cute—Shroomish! Wait, don’t run!”

”Venonat are sleeping… I won’t disturb them.”

She beamed with excitement.

Just as she raised her phone—

The grass beside her suddenly moved.

Then—

A plant stood up.

With little blue feet.

”Oddish!”

It glared at her and waddled away angrily.

”Oh… sorry…”

She realized she had disturbed it.

After snapping a few photos, she smiled contentedly.

”It’s almost noon… time to set up camp.”

She turned—

And froze.

A small fox stood before her.

Reddish-brown fur.

Curled orange bangs.

Six elegant tails.

Amber eyes full of curiosity.

”Awuu?”

”…!!!”

Xiao Cai’s brain paused.

Never seen before.

But—

”THIS IS WAY TOO CUTE!!! Hey—don’t run!!”

Meanwhile—

Far away.

Chen Mo glanced at the livestream chat, smiling faintly.

”Luck and strength—both matter.”

The sound of flowing water reached his ears.

After two days of recovery, he had fully adapted to the altitude.

Now—

His journey resumed.

First destination:

The river where the Axew tribe had found Zekrom’s fallen scale.

Pushing through bushes—

A long, shimmering river came into view, flowing down from snowy mountains.

And on its surface—

Several blue figures floated quietly.
