Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

”I see, that makes sense now.”

A look of realization appeared on Chen Mo’s face.

After Miss Jun’s explanation, he finally understood how this Pokémon battle had come about.

The reason was simple—

Miss Jun had been the one to propose it.

As both a police officer and a trainer, she was very curious about Ghost-type Pokémon. In order to personally experience their traits and battle style—and to be better prepared when facing them in the future—she asked Xiao You if they could have a battle.

As for Xiao You—

After her father signed an agreement with the authorities, and with her own consent, the Bureau had begun nurturing her toward becoming a trainer.

So she didn’t resist the idea of battling.

And just like that, the two engaged in what might very well be the first true Pokémon battle in this world between two human trainers.

However, at this moment, Xiao You looked clearly dejected.

In the past, the Bureau often arranged mock battles between her and the wild Pokémon in the ecological park.

But those Pokémon had no trainers directing them. Combined with their relatively low strength and lack of aggression, Xiao You could usually command Banette to win with ease.

This time was different.

The fierce Growlithe and the composed, commanding presence of Miss Jun put immense pressure on her. She even forgot how to properly give commands.

Xiao You understood it clearly—

Her victory this time was purely due to Banette’s own strength.

As a trainer, she had only held it back.

Thinking about the seamless coordination between Miss Jun and Growlithe, then comparing it to her own performance, Xiao You sank into deep self-doubt.

After Chen Mo left Lavender Town, Xiao You and Banette had rewatched all of his past livestreams and his Evergreen Forest journey.

Inspired by him—and guided by the authorities—she had decided to become a Pokémon trainer.

But now…

Her first battle against another trainer had turned out like this.

And Chen Mo had watched the whole thing.

That only made her feel worse.

Not far away, Chen Mo noticed her expression.

To be honest—

There were many issues exposed in that battle.

Xiao You was too nervous while commanding Banette, sometimes even missing the timing to give commands.

With Banette’s strength, it should have been an easy win—but it ended up being a narrow victory.

On the other hand, Miss Jun was decisive and quick with her commands, but her understanding of Growlithe was still lacking.

Through his Detection Eye, Chen Mo saw that Growlithe actually knew Bite and Crunch—Dark-type moves.

If she had used Crunch at the end, the type advantage against Banette could have turned the battle around—or at least forced a draw.

Most importantly—

Their battle felt too rigid.

Aside from that one desperate ”Xiao Ji, dodge!”, it felt like watching a turn-based game.

Both sides had clear shortcomings.

But—

This was the first real trainer-vs-trainer battle Chen Mo had seen in this world.

And honestly, they had done quite well.

After all, even beginner trainers in the Pokémon world—like Ash—started out not understanding type matchups, even sending Caterpie against Pidgeotto.

Just as Chen Mo was about to go comfort Xiao You—

Miss Jun beat him to it.

”Xiao You, thank you. Banette is really strong. Battling you helped both me and Growlithe a lot.”

She smiled warmly, like an older sister, and gently patted Xiao You’s head.

”Let’s battle again sometime.”

Xiao You stared at her blankly for a moment—

Then nodded seriously.

”Okay!”

Seeing this, Chen Mo smiled and stopped himself from going over.

What Xiao You needed was encouragement and recognition.

And coming from her opponent, Miss Jun’s words carried far more weight than his would.

Soon, with both the potion Chen Mo provided and the Sitrus Berry, Growlithe and Banette recovered quickly.

Especially Growlithe—just moments ago it had been unable to stand, and now it was already running around energetically again.

Seeing that Growlithe had recovered, Miss Jun began saying her goodbyes.

She was a busy person.

According to Professor Zhou, she had recently been reassigned to participate in the Hongjingpo Forest project.

Her visit today was mainly because of the Poké Ball’s completion.

She had taken several Poké Balls with her—one already used for Growlithe, the rest intended for her colleagues.

With her business done, and having already spent extra time battling Xiao You, she left in a hurry.

But—

That battle sparked a new realization in Chen Mo.

He wasn’t sure whether the Bureau had researched medical tools for Pokémon yet, but from what he saw, their current method still relied on feeding healing berries.

This approach clearly wasted the full potential of medicinal berries.

Take the Sitrus Berry just used—

If processed with proper materials into medicine, its effect would be much stronger.

After thinking it over, Chen Mo felt—

The time had come.

Previously, he hadn’t shared recipes like potions because:

People weren’t ready to accept Pokémon yetHe still had concerns about the authorities

But now—

They already had Poké Balls.

Sharing potion recipes wasn’t a big deal anymore.

In fact, he had already made up his mind—

Not just potions.

Considering that trainers would become more common and battles more frequent, he planned to also provide medical technology designs from the Pokémon world.

To help establish—

A complete Pokémon medical system.
