Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

[This Pokémon is called Rattata. It’s a species with a strong sense of vigilance. Their biggest trait is that they spend all day searching for food. Because of this, they occasionally sneak into human settlements and steal stored fresh food. Take a look at these potatoes on the ground—most likely, they were stolen by this Rattata.]

[However, Rattata are not Pokémon that actively attack humans. When they encounter people, they usually flee immediately. But this…]

Under surveillance footage—

The Rattata was cornered by several burly men, trapped against a wall with nowhere to escape.

Thinking back to the woman’s tearful testimony earlier at the police station, many viewers sighed.

As expected—

After being continuously beaten and pushed into a life-or-death situation, the Rattata launched a desperate counterattack. It severely injured one of the men.

But already battered and bleeding, it still couldn’t escape.

In the end—

It was shot dead on the spot by arriving police officers.

At the end of the clip, an official report appeared:

This was a real incident.

The man injured by Rattata later died from excessive blood loss.

The comments exploded:

[No matter what, the Rattata stole human food first.]

[I remember this—this was that ”killer rat incident” from months ago.]

[It was wrong, but did it have to go that far…? This is painful to watch.]

[Here comes the saint.]

[Saint my ass. If they had stopped earlier and let it go, it wouldn’t have turned into a life-and-death fight!]

The documentary continued.

Case after case appeared:

Pokémon attacking humans without clear causeHumans provoking Pokémon and dying as a resultGray-area incidents like the Rattata case

Debates intensified everywhere.

The screen darkened again.

A line of text appeared:

”We have never avoided these issues.

We have only been searching for a path—

so that tragedies like these will not happen again.”

Then—

A voice spoke from the darkness.

”I’ve been asked—why do I do this?”

”That’s a good question.”

”I once heard something.”

”When one life encounters another—what is born from that meeting?”

”And the reason I teach people about Pokémon…”

”…is because I don’t want that encounter to give birth to countless tragedies.”

”That’s why I do this.”

Comments flooded in:

[Who is this?]

[Is this that streamer everyone’s been attacking?]

[The government is trying to clear his name?]

[Have you not been paying attention? Those tragedies speak for themselves!]

[This actually… makes some sense. Let’s keep watching.]

The screen lit up again.

A young man appeared—

Handsome, calm.

[Mo Bao!]

[He actually looks pretty decent.]

[This is from his first trip into Hongjing Slope Forest.]

[He went into a forest alone!?]

At that time—

Chen Mo was clearly nervous.

And viewers learned something new—

Before all this, he had once been hospitalized after being attacked by a Rhyhorn.

[He got injured and still defends Pokémon? Is he crazy?]

[Wait… his behavior doesn’t match what people said online…]

[Yeah… he looks cautious, not reckless.]

Then—

The first Pokémon appeared.

Metapod.

And the journey began.

As the documentary showed more—

People realized something:

Chen Mo never claimed Pokémon were harmless.

He repeatedly warned:

Some Pokémon are dangerousAvoid them immediately

[This… isn’t what I thought at all.]

[Even if I still dislike them, this information is useful.]

[I… feel conflicted now…]

Because—

It became clear:

He was risking his life to educate others.

Not to glorify Pokémon—

But to prevent tragedy.

In one home—

The furious older brother had gone silent.

His younger brother looked at him worriedly.

The brother’s face showed confusion—

Then hardened again.

”I’m not wrong.”

”The ones at fault are those monsters.”

”If they never came, none of this would’ve happened.”

”Why should we accept them?”

But the doubt—

Had already taken root.

The documentary continued.

Chen Mo and Pichu.

Their meeting.

Their bond.

For the first time—

People saw a different possibility:

Not enemies—

But partners.

Scenes unfolded:

Magikarp drifting peacefullyBeedrill’s aggressionCombee’s diligenceOddish’s timid cuteness

Slowly—

Viewers were drawn into the world of Pokémon.

They felt:

Sad when Pidgey was injuredJoy when it repaid kindnessTension during battlesExcitement at evolution

[So that’s how ”Pidgey Express” started…]

[If it’s Pidgey… maybe it’s okay.]

[Have you ever seen news of Pidgey attacking people?]

”Let go of your prejudice?”

Many fell silent.

Then came:

Absol, misunderstoodBanette, protecting what it loved

These stories shook people.

If humans cling to prejudice—

Aren’t they no different from those in Lavender Town?

[I think… I understand now.]

[Without him, those stories might’ve ended in tragedy.]

[Maybe coexistence isn’t impossible…]

[I owe him an apology.]

As the documentary neared its end—

Rational discussion began to emerge.

People started accepting the word:

”Pokémon.”

The final scene—

A car leaving Lavender Town in the rain.

A conversation played over darkness:

”Do you think humans and Pokémon can really coexist?”

”We can’t change everyone.”

”But if we do nothing…”

”…things will only get worse.”

”The future depends on what most people choose.”

”So we must try.”

”To make sure tragedies don’t repeat.”

”I understand,” Ah Hui replied.

The screen lit up one last time.

Researchers in white coats.

A blooming field.

A forest.

A young man—somewhat fox-like in appearance—held up a phone.

A blue Pokémon emerged.

”Nidoran♀, let’s begin the test.”

”Na~na~”

He took a photo.

Then—

A voice from the phone:

”Nidoran♀. Poison Pin Pokémon. Poison-type. Female.

Gentle in nature and dislikes fighting.

However, its horn contains venom—please exercise caution.”

The future—

Had already begun.
