As everyone knows, only children make choices—adults take everything.

According to Beibei’s plan, it would return to the place where it once lived, find its clan, and then bring them all back to the town to live together.

If that idea could be realized, it would truly be the best of both worlds.

However—

While Chen Mo was certain that Elder Lu and the townspeople would welcome the entire Pancham clan with open arms…

Whether the wild Pancham tribe would agree to come live in the town with Beibei—

That was another matter entirely.

”Wan!”

After understanding Chen Mo’s concern, Beibei’s expression remained firm.

It would definitely convince its clan.

”Alright.”

Even if Pikachu had influenced things a bit, this was ultimately Beibei’s own decision. Chen Mo had no intention of stopping it.

At that moment—

Beibei scratched its head sheepishly, looking a little embarrassed.

”Wan…”

Ten minutes later—

On an open patch of land a few hundred meters outside the town, Pidgeotto and Xatu landed almost at the same time.

”Wan!”

After experiencing flight for the first time, Beibei’s face was full of excitement.

It turned to Chen Mo and expressed its thanks once again.

Even though they had only known each other briefly, Chen Mo had grown quite fond of this polite Pancham that had grown up in the wild.

So when Beibei asked for help getting back to a familiar area, Chen Mo agreed without hesitation.

”Not going back to say goodbye to Elder Lu and the others?”

At parting, Chen Mo asked.

Beibei instinctively looked back at the town in the distance. After a long pause, it shook its head.

”Wan!”

It had finally made up its mind. If it turned back now… even it didn’t know if it would be able to leave again.

Chen Mo smiled.

”Then… see you next time, Beibei.”

”Pika pika~”

”Wan!”

With determination to persuade its clan, Beibei walked into the mountains.

Chen Mo watched, feeling a bit emotional.

”Yi-ge, let’s head out too.”

”Mm.”

Just as they turned to leave, they faintly heard a ”Wan!” from behind.

At first, Chen Mo thought he imagined it—but Pikachu tapped his shoulder.

Turning back—

Beibei, which had already gone down one fork in the road, suddenly ran back out after a minute or two, then hurried off down another path.

Apparently—

It had gone the wrong way.

Chen Mo: ”...”

The livestream audience saw it clearly too.

[…Can it really find its clan?]

[Now I’m actually worried 😂]

[No wonder the caretakers didn’t want it to leave]

[This child is NOT ready for the wild]

Worried as they were—

Beibei had already refused Chen Mo’s offer to accompany it, insisting on finding its clan alone.

So Chen Mo didn’t follow.

He had his own journey.

”Today’s goal is to reach our planned campsite on foot—and see what wild Pokémon we encounter along the way.”

Standing before the camera with a large backpack, Chen Mo spoke calmly.

”Let’s set off.”

The terrain of Mount Cangqing was even more complex than expected.

Aside from roads leading to tourist areas, most paths were unsuitable for vehicles.

So Chen Mo left the off-road vehicle in town, bringing only essentials like Pokéblocks, and began heading into the mountains.

Still…

This backpack was too small.

He regretted not buying a bigger one—he’d even had to leave behind some favorite cooking tools.

Chen Mo sighed inwardly.

Perhaps bored from staying in his shadow, Haunter floated out again, playing around with Pikachu ahead.

”Pika pika!”

”Keh heh!”

Yi-ge, carrying his own pack and the camera, adjusted the shot to capture the two playing—much to the delight of viewers.

Chen Mo shook his head helplessly.

”Be careful. Don’t disturb other Pokémon resting in the forest.”

”Keh heh~” ”Pika~”

Then—

Watching Haunter drifting around, Chen Mo suddenly remembered something.

”…Damn! I forgot again!”

Once Haunter evolved into Gengar, it would be able to store a large number of items inside its body.

In other words—

If Haunter had already evolved, Chen Mo wouldn’t need to carry this heavy backpack at all.

Unfortunately—

Like in the games, Haunter’s evolution method was special.

It required trade evolution—technology.

And in Chen Mo’s system storage…

There just happened to be blueprints for a trading device.

”I thought I wouldn’t need to hand over more blueprints anytime soon…”

He felt a headache coming.

He had already given Professor Zhou a large batch of medical device designs. Handing over something completely different now—especially something so specific—would be hard to explain.

”Guess I’ll have to find another way…”

According to Detective Eye, Haunter had alternative evolution methods.

One involved a special item—Linking Cord—but Chen Mo had never seen it, and it wasn’t in the system shop.

The last method was vague—

But from his understanding, trade evolution essentially used a special energy generated by the device to trigger evolution.

Which explained why wild Gengar could exist.

But what exact energy was needed—

Unknown.

”Hmm…”

Maybe he could study the device blueprint himself first.

Worst case, he’d hand it over later.

”Feeling unwell?”

Yi-ge noticed his expression.

”Need a break?”

”I’m fine—just thinking.”

After a full night’s rest, Chen Mo felt completely refreshed.

High altitude sickness? Didn’t feel a thing.

Just as he was about to continue—

A strange sound echoed from the forest ahead.

”lucky~”

”happy~”

”lucky~”…

The clear, melodic voices immediately caught everyone’s attention.

[Did that just say ’lucky’ and ’happy’?]

[Foreigners??]

[No way that’s human…]

[Pokémon ahead? Let’s go!]

Chen Mo smiled.

”You’re hearing it right. Those ’lucky~ happy~’ sounds are indeed from Pokémon.”

”And they’re not dangerous—in fact, they’re among the friendliest Pokémon toward humans.”

He pushed through the bushes.

Ahead—

On another path—

A group of pink, egg-shaped Pokémon walked in neat formation, happily calling out as they went.

[SO ROUND SO PINK SO CUTE!!!]

[What Pokémon is this??]

[Why do they all carry eggs??]

Chen Mo hid slightly behind the brush and explained:

”They’re not ’Exeggcute.’”

”The ones in front with small white wings are Blissey.”

”And the ones behind them are Chansey.”

”happy~ lucky~”

”Their names match their cries—symbols of happiness and good fortune.”

”In another world, it’s said that encountering a wild Chansey means you’re very lucky.”

”And if you meet a Blissey—”

”That’s even rarer.”

”The eggs they produce can bring happiness and even calm the most violent Pokémon.”

”They’re incredibly gentle Pokémon.”

The chat grew lively.

Chen Mo continued:

”The eggs they carry aren’t Pokémon eggs.”

”They’re special eggs—rich in nutrients, delicious, and most importantly…”

”They can heal injuries.”

”That’s why they’re known as ’no-need-for-doctors’ eggs.”

”However…”

”In another world, because of this ability, Chansey and Blissey were often targeted by poachers.”

”Though they’re kind and willingly share their eggs…”

”They won’t submit to those with ill intent.”

”And that’s one of the reasons why wild Chansey populations became increasingly rare.”

A rare encounter.

A lucky one.

Just like their name.
