Pokémon Invasion: Explaining Pokémon to Save the World

Once the stream officially began, and with the website and various channels pushing recommendations, more and more new viewers flooded into the livestream.

And in this world—

there is never a shortage of people who just want to stir things up.

Seeing the chat arguing over what to call Chen Mo,

the troublemakers immediately joined the fray.

Very quickly—

Chen Mo’s longtime fans realized something.

There were too many people on the other side!

With the full force of official promotion and the nationwide popularity of the documentary, countless newcomers poured into the stream.

Under this overwhelming pressure,

the old fans realized—

they might not be able to defend the title ”Mo-bao” anymore.

[How about we compromise… let’s just call him Teacher Mo.]

At some point, the chat gradually reached a consensus.

A teacher is one who imparts knowledge, teaches skills, and resolves doubts.

As a professional Pokémon educator,

Chen Mo was more than qualified for such a title.

As for titles like ”Doctor”—

since Chen Mo was, in reality, just a bachelor’s degree holder,

the moment it was suggested, he personally shut it down.

”…Finally settled.”

Chen Mo let out a sigh of relief.

He was actually in a pretty good mood.

After all, he could finally get rid of the embarrassing nickname ”Mo-bao.”

One of the reasons he avoided meeting fans in real life

was because of that name.

Every time someone called him ”Mo-bao” in public—

and he felt the strange looks from passersby—

he just wanted to dig a hole and disappear.

So honestly—

”Teacher Mo” was much better.

At least now he could respond to fans without feeling awkward.

[Wait, suddenly realized—Teacher Mo isn’t filming himself today.]

[What do you mean Mo-bao—call him Teacher Mo now (crying)]

[The one filming is Yi-ge! I saw his reflection in the car window.]

[Yi-ge is here!? Then… Teacher Mo, you’re not going back to Hongjing Slope Forest this time, right?]

[Heh, as a veteran fan, let me step up—this time it’s a brand-new location! There’s a high chance we’ll see Pokémon that have never appeared before. So just look forward to it!]

[If you’ve got insider info, then say where he’s going!]

[…Uh… that part I don’t know.]

Because Ah Hui had previously told the fan group that Chen Mo was selecting a new location,

and the stream announcement followed soon after,

everyone naturally assumed this trip would be somewhere new.

Facing the curious barrage of comments, Chen Mo smiled.

”I’ll keep it a secret for now. You’ll find out when we get there.”

[I feel like Teacher Mo is guarding against us…]

[Honestly, if he says the location and it’s near me, I’m definitely going to meet him.]

[Exactly what he’s trying to prevent.]

[I think it’s better not to disturb him. His work is important. With so many people knowing him now, if even a small portion show up to chat or take photos, he wouldn’t be able to continue the stream properly.]

[That makes sense, but… has anyone noticed something? Where are Teacher Mo’s Pokémon? Only Pikachu is on his shoulder—what about the others?]

[Gengar is probably hiding in his shadow. Absol—we already discussed it—gets carsick, and since this is a long trip, he probably left Absol and Magikarp at home. As for Pidgeotto… in the sky?]

At that moment, the camera tilted upward.

The sky was crystal clear—

blue skies, white clouds—

but no sign of Pidgeotto.

Just as everyone was confused—

Chen Mo’s voice came from off-screen.

”They’re all here.”

”Pikachu~”

”Gengar~!”

[???]

[What does that mean!?]

[No idea!!]

The camera returned to Chen Mo.

He smiled, then pulled open his jacket,

revealing five Poké Balls hanging at his waist.

Amid a flood of confusion,

he took one out—

and pressed the button.

A flash of white light burst out.

Absol appeared from the Poké Ball:

”?”

The chat froze for a split second—

then exploded into a wall of question marks.

[WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!? WHY DID ABSOL COME OUT OF A BALL!?]

[I don’t understand it, but I’m deeply shocked!]

[We still don’t know what that Pokémon-identifying device from the documentary is, and now Teacher Mo pulls out something even crazier!?]

[Five balls… so they correspond to his five Pokémon? That means besides Absol, Pikachu, and Gengar, Pidgeotto and Magikarp are inside the other two!?]

[Didn’t he just say it? ”They’re all here!”]

Sure enough—

Chen Mo took out another Poké Ball.

With a flash of light,

Pidgeotto appeared, letting out a clear cry.

[HOLY—!!!]

[What an opening! Good thing I woke up early!]

[Mo-b—Teacher Mo, stop teasing us! What is this!?]

[Magikarp is here too, right!? I’ve barely seen it since it joined your team—finally I get to see it again!]

”Magikarp is here too,” Chen Mo said with a smile,

”but this isn’t a suitable place to let it out, so I won’t show it for now.”

He held up two Poké Balls toward Absol and Pidgeotto.

”Return, Absol. Pidgeotto.”

Absol: ”...”

Two beams of light shot out,

engulfing both Pokémon—

and in an instant,

they dissolved into light and returned to their Poké Balls.

Having teased enough,

Chen Mo raised a hand to calm the increasingly impatient viewers.

”Alright, alright, I know you’re all curious.”

”This is called a Poké Ball.”

”As you can see, its main function is to store Pokémon, making it convenient for them to travel with me.”

Even after the brief explanation,

the entire chat remained stunned.

[Our world’s technology is already this advanced!?]

[Didn’t Teacher Mo say it relies on Pokémon’s natural ability to shrink… but still… this feels insane…]

[What else can I say—my country is amazing!]

[First that Pokémon scanner from the documentary, and now THIS? They’ve been doing all this quietly!?]

[Even though I don’t have a Pokémon yet, I already want to buy a few Poké Balls to keep at home just in case. So when are these going on sale?]

[For someone like Teacher Mo who travels a lot, this is super convenient. But for someone like me… I probably won’t need it.]

Just as Chen Mo had expected—

the first appearance of Poké Balls caused a massive reaction.

But since they lacked the capture function from the original setting,

people remained relatively restrained.

Most simply expressed interest in buying a few—

if the price was reasonable.

After all—

people like Chen Mo, who travel constantly, were rare.

Most people were tied down by daily life.

And that was exactly why his streams were so popular.

Through Chen Mo—

they could see mountains, rivers, and landscapes they would never visit,

and encounter Pokémon they would never meet.

The off-road vehicle continued down the road.

Yi-ge operated a drone,

which slowly rose into the sky.

Accompanied by light music,

the camera captured—

the car, the road, rivers, mountains, blue skies, white clouds—

all blending into a serene, living painting.

[The best part of work is secretly watching Teacher Mo’s stream.]

[This feels amazing~ Yi-ge is clearly more professional this time—even using a drone. Are they planning more documentaries?]

[That would be awesome—make it a series, I’d definitely watch!]

[Or maybe Yi-ge just didn’t want us to get bored, so he added drone footage.]

[Makes sense. When Teacher Mo is driving, he doesn’t talk much, and Yi-ge didn’t talk much last time either… now I kind of miss Ah Hui.]

[Yeah, Ah Hui used to chat with us nonstop during these moments.]

[Also… hasn’t Ah Hui appeared in the chat at all today?]

[Still sleeping?]

[It’s almost noon—what kind of lazy guy is still asleep!?]

Ah Hui, who had accompanied Chen Mo through the Evergreen Forest journey,

was quite popular among viewers due to his cheerful personality.

Now, with only Chen Mo and Yi-ge remaining,

many longtime fans felt something was missing.

Just as everyone reminisced—

far away in Anping City—

Ah Hui stood ready.

He glanced at Caterpie resting in his backpack,

then at the buzz-cut young man beside him.

No words were needed.

They understood each other perfectly.

Everyone has their own story.

Their own convictions.

Just as Chen Mo was heading to Cangqing Mountain for Zekrom—

Ah Hui, too,

had a reason he couldn’t ignore.

”Let’s go.”

”Yeah.”
