Milotic swam far too fast—so fast that even Yi-ge didn’t have time to adjust the camera before it vanished completely.

”Out hunting for food?”

Chen Mo muttered thoughtfully.

From what he’d learned through Magikarp, he already had a decent understanding of this Milotic that had temporarily settled in Chengying Lake.

If nothing else—

This Milotic was extremely reclusive.

According to Gyarados, aside from necessary feeding, Milotic rarely moved around the lake at all.

So the moment Chen Mo saw it, his first thought was—

This somewhat ”homebody-type” Milotic had come out to eat.

[A homebody Milotic 😂]

[Same, I love staying at home too—this personality is perfect]

[You think you can raise one? With that size? You’d need a private lake]

[Let’s be real—even Psyduck we’ve barely seen, and that’s common. Milotic? Forget it.]

[Suddenly I feel better knowing rich people can’t get one either]

Since arriving in this world, Chen Mo had introduced many Pokémon.

Aside from the Legendary Pokémon Suicune, the one whose popularity skyrocketed the fastest after debut—

Was Milotic.

It was trending everywhere.

Seeing how much everyone adored Milotic, Chen Mo suddenly smiled.

”Milotic is indeed very rare. Finding and catching one in the wild is basically like winning the lottery.”

”But—”

”If you really want one, there is another way.”

”You can raise it from its pre-evolution.”

The chat exploded.

[WAIT WHAT!?]

[Milotic evolves from something!?]

[Why didn’t you say this earlier!?]

[Let him explain first!]

[If Milotic is rare, its pre-evolution must be rare too, right?]

[Or maybe like Magikarp—common but hard to evolve?]

Chen Mo nodded.

”Correct.”

”Milotic is rare—but its pre-evolution is not.”

”If Magikarp is the most common Water-type Pokémon…”

”Then Milotic’s pre-evolution is easily second.”

[No way.]

[So evolution difficulty must be insane.]

[Is it another ’emotion-based’ evolution?]

Chen Mo continued:

”Milotic evolves from a Pokémon called Feebas.”

”And yes—the contrast is huge.”

”Because Feebas… is ugly.”

He shrugged.

”Just like its name suggests.”

”It has dull eyes like Magikarp.”

”But unlike Magikarp’s crown-like fin, Feebas has tattered fins, a patchy, uneven body, and a muddy brown color.”

”It looks… pretty miserable.”

”The only remarkable thing about it—”

”Is its incredible vitality.”

”As for evolution…”

”It’s extremely special—and extremely difficult.”

”No easier than Magikarp evolving into Gyarados.”

Chen Mo paused slightly.

”In fact…”

”It might be even harder.”

In games, Feebas required high Beauty or a Prism Scale trade.

But here?

That ”beauty” condition was even more abstract than friendship.

Becoming Milotic—

Was truly a one-in-ten-thousand miracle.

[Yeah I’ll stick with Gyarados… anger is easier than beauty]

[Milotic = peace, Gyarados = destruction. Total opposites.]

[Why do they feel… oddly matched?]

[Don’t say it…]

[They kinda look like a couple???]

[NO. Gyarados doesn’t deserve Milotic 😤]

[Different species!!]

[…Do species even matter here?]

Chen Mo glanced at the chat and nodded.

”Actually… species doesn’t matter that much.”

The chat froze.

[…Wait]

[You’re joking, right?]

[…You’re not joking???]

”I’m not joking.”

Now everyone was stunned.

Chen Mo continued calmly:

”In this world, Pokémon don’t follow normal biological rules.”

”In another world, research showed that different Pokémon species can reproduce.”

”But—”

”It’s not random.”

”It follows a rule.”

”Pokémon that can breed share certain biological traits.”

”For example—”

”Milotic and Gyarados both possess dragon-like characteristics.”

[We are literally in biology class now]

[Wait—Milotic is dragon-like??]

[Snake becomes dragon, makes sense… kinda]

[But they’re not Dragon-type!?]

Chen Mo smiled.

”As I said before—Pokémon often hatch from Eggs.”

”And based on biological traits, researchers created a system called—”

”Egg Groups.”

”Pokémon that look beast-like are grouped into the Monster Egg Group.”

”Bird-like Pokémon go into the Flying Egg Group.”

”A Pokémon can belong to one or two Egg Groups.”

”And as long as two Pokémon share the same Egg Group—”

”They can breed.”

”The offspring will always be the mother’s species.”

”So no—”

”You won’t get weird hybrids like mules or ligers.”

[That actually makes sense…]

[So Egg Groups = compatibility system]

[Do Legendaries have Egg Groups?]

”Some Pokémon don’t have defined Egg Groups yet.”

Chen Mo replied.

”And yes—many Legendary Pokémon fall into that category.”

[So how many Egg Groups are there?]

[Yeah, how many exactly?]

Chen Mo smiled mysteriously.

”If you want to know…”

”Download the Pokédex app.”

”I’ve put everything I know in there.”

[???]

[YOU BAITED US]

[WHAT POKÉDEX!?]

[Wait—it’s that app from the documentary!?]

[I heard it’s releasing soon—and FREE!?]

The chat exploded once again.

And just like that—

What started as a casual lakeside walk…

Turned into humanity’s first real glimpse into the hidden biological rules of the Pokémon world.
