Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Absolute strength breeds absolute confidence!

Once one’s strength reaches a certain level, many things become exceptionally simple.

Take, for instance, Wen Yu going off to hunt for treasures while Cyclops and Star were responsible for guarding the entrance.

Under the dual deterrence of Cyclops and Star, the professionists outside ”gladly” reached an understanding with Cyclops. Those who wished to leave, left. Those who wanted to search for treasures continued their search. Those who merely wanted to spectate simply watched.

As long as they understood one fact—that their lives were their own—these individuals wouldn’t dare stir up any major trouble!

...

No more fools dared to challenge Cyclops’s might.

Those confident in their own strength knew the status and power represented by Sequence Number 2.

As for those who didn’t know about Sequence Number 2, they were likely struggling and naturally wouldn’t dare provoke the patience or temper of Cyclops, this Peak Level 5 mutant beast.

Seeing these ”very rational” professionists, Cyclops yawned out of boredom.

”That’s it?”

Star mumbled to himself on the side, I thought Cyclops wanted me to grow bigger for a big fight, but it turned out to be much ado about nothing.

”What else did you expect? Let me tell you, these humans are incredibly shrewd. Out of so many, only one idiot stepped forward. I reckon that fool must have been bitten by a dog before...”

”Also, you need to understand your own strength and position. To put it bluntly, we’re now among the creatures at the top of the food chain. How can these guys, who live day to day, possibly compare to us? Even if I lent them my courage, they still wouldn’t dare to act!”

”And another thing...”

Cyclops, with nothing better to do, immediately launched into a lecture for Star.

Once, Cyclops had vowed to groom Star into a dashing, unrestrained dragon prince, but he never managed to find a suitable dragoness for Star...

That old ambition had long been abandoned, but Cyclops still kept up his habit of ”brainwashing” Star.

Star, however, maintained his combat-ready form, his large eyes vigilantly scanning the surroundings.

Star’s approach, however, was far more straightforward and earnest. He executed Wen Yu’s orders meticulously. Although it seemed rigid, obedient children are always more favored by their elders.

Star automatically filtered out Cyclops’s rambling. After so much time together, Star had developed his own ways of dealing with him.

He was sensing the sounds and smells in the air when, at a certain moment, a familiar scent from afar suddenly entered his perception.

”SHH, Doggy, it looks like someone’s coming.”

”Who? Who else dares to come courting death?”

Cyclops’s idle, trouble-seeking demeanor prompted Star to tease him.

”Doggy, I think Tang Haofei is approaching.”

”Oh...”

Cyclops instantly deflated.

However arrogant he had been just moments before, Cyclops knew Tang Haofei’s strength. The stronger one became, the more one understood the terror of those even stronger. Tang Haofei isn’t scary, Cyclops thought. Wen Yu knows his personality, and so do I.

Still, no matter what, the weak had to show due respect before the strong—this was reverence for power itself!

Seeing Cyclops’s predicament, Star grinned widely. ”Look how scared you are! It might not be Tang Haofei. I just detected a faint trace of a divine beast’s aura...”

Before Star could finish, both soul pets froze.

After a long moment, Cyclops spoke resentfully.

”If it’s not Tang Haofei, who else could it be? Victor?”

...

”Boss, Tang Haofei seems to be on his way...”

Hearing the spiritual fluctuation transmitted by Cyclops, Wen Yu slowly set down the corroded, now useless S-class weapon in his hands. After a moment’s contemplation, he decisively issued an order.

”Tell him I arrived here first, so this place is mine. If he wants to force his way in, don’t stop him. Just let him in. I’ll handle the rest.”

”Understood.”

After ending his spiritual connection with Cyclops, Wen Yu unhesitatingly issued a command to the Almighty Demon Vine on the other side.

”Speed up. Tang Haofei seems to be coming.”

...

As he sauntered through the streets of the Heavenly Palace Forge, Tang Haofei gained some inspiration from the neatly arranged blacksmith’s forges. At the very least, their layout could offer some reference for the architectural plans of the military munitions district in Eternal Palace City.

Intelligence reports continuously flowed to Fran, but Tang Haofei paid them no mind.

Everyone has their own expertise. No one is omnipotent, and Tang Haofei was well aware of his own limitations.

As one of humanity’s peak martial powers, Tang Haofei didn’t need to display his shortcomings. He only needed to elevate his strength—his forte—to the utmost limit. That alone was enough to realize his greatest value!

”Tang Haofei, new intel.”

”Speak.”

Tang Haofei replied nonchalantly, his attention still on scrutinizing the surrounding architecture.

”Wen Yu is also here, at the site of that massive energy signature we just detected. A report just came in: his two soul pets, Cyclops and Star, are guarding the entrance. What are your instructions?”

Tang Haofei shook his head lightly.

”Leave him be. We’ll look elsewhere.”

”But, based on the energy signature from there...”

Fran’s words trailed off as he suddenly realized something: There’s a sensory connection between divine beasts. At this distance, Tang Haofei should be able to sense Star’s aura!

”Ah, very well. I’ll arrange for our people to avoid that area!”

Fran made his decision decisively.

Tang Haofei nodded. ”You all carry on. I’m going to check on Wen Yu.”

...

He strolled towards Wen Yu’s location at a leisurely pace.

From a distance, Tang Haofei spotted the colossal figures of Star and Cyclops.

”Yo, long time no see.”

Tang Haofei greeted them with a smile.

The next second, Cyclops’s reaction almost made Tang Haofei laugh out loud.

”Brother Fei, you’ve arrived...”

Cyclops stuck out his tongue, adopting a fawning, subservient demeanor, nodding and bowing towards Tang Haofei. Yet, all the while, he was pulling Star backward step by step, resolutely blocking the doorway of the building.

Tang Haofei shook his head with a smile.

”Relax. Is Wen Yu inside?”

”Yes, Brother Fei. Would you like to go in and take a look?”

Though Cyclops spoke these words, his body didn’t budge at all. His meaning was clear: I’m just being courteous. If you really insist on entering, I can’t stop you, but I’ve made my stance clear.

And from Cyclops’s actions, Tang Haofei could also discern Wen Yu’s intentions.

So, Tang Haofei shook his head decisively.

”No, I won’t go in. Hmm, on second thought, I’ll wait for him out here. Perhaps we can cooperate in this treasure land.”

Without Lin Haifeng’s involvement, the possibility of cooperation between Wen Yu and Tang Haofei still existed.
