Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

WHOOSH! Wen Yu shot up from the couch.

Yang Hong and Wang Fucai stared at each other, slowly processing what they had heard before falling silent.

That sound just now… it seemed like the Profound Sword Technique.

Wen Yu, having fought alongside Qin Tian for much longer than Yang Hong or Wang Fucai, recognized the sound with certainty.

That was undoubtedly the Profound Sword Technique! And a Hundredfold Strike version at that!

Realizing this, Wen Yu immediately recalled his three soul pets, which were romping around the room, back to the Soul Realm space. But then, he suddenly hesitated.

He hesitated because a particular matter came to mind: It was undoubtedly Lin Haifeng who had acted against Qin Shiyuan. And I was the one who informed Tang Haofei of Lin Haifeng’s plan and entrusted Qin Shiyuan’s safety to him. Qin Tian, being somewhat privy to this, understood the deep waters he was stepping into. From any perspective, Qin Tian had no reason to get involved in this. But somehow, he did. Why? Why would Qin Tian voluntarily involve himself in this…?

Pondering this, Wen Yu glanced at the TV screen, which had already lost its signal.

Even now, Tang Haofei hasn’t shown up, and he hasn’t done anything…

A flash of insight struck Wen Yu, and he suddenly understood.

It turns out that, like Sea King, I too… have never truly had any allies by my side!

”It was the Profound Sword Technique, wasn’t it?”

Hearing Wang Fucai’s question, Wen Yu hesitated for a long moment before nodding gently.

”Why did Qin Tian go?”

”Tang Haofei deceived me.”

This was the only possibility Wen Yu could conceive.

Hearing Wen Yu’s answer, Yang Hong and Wang Fucai both fell silent.

If Tang Haofei sided with Lin Haifeng in this matter, the course of events would be entirely determined by Lin Haifeng’s will.

”So, what should we do?”

Wang Fucai’s question rendered Wen Yu completely silent.

What should I do…? Save Qin Tian? Don’t be ridiculous. If I dare to step in, it would unquestionably link me to the incident. My status and position are higher than Qin Tian’s; hence, I am more likely, even more suited, to attract the wrath of the Sea Clan. By that time, my name would inevitably be at the top of the combined wanted list of the Human Race and the Sea Clan.

Wen Yu wasn’t afraid of this, but that didn’t mean he enjoyed needlessly looking for trouble.

However, Qin Tian is, after all, a member of my team… And now something like this has happened, especially since I was the one who ”introduced” Tang Haofei to Qin Tian. The intricacies of this situation can’t be explained in just a sentence or two!

”You all wait here. I’m going out for a bit.”

”Wait, Wen Yu…”

Wang Fucai stopped Wen Yu, then said, his expression hesitant, ”Qin Tian may have his reasons for choosing to do this. But I want you to remember one thing.”

”Everyone is an independent individual, and they need to take responsibility for their own actions.”

Wang Fucai’s meaning was clear: if Tang Haofei truly sided with Lin Haifeng, it would be unwise to oppose the military and Tang Haofei for Qin Tian’s sake.

The deeper implication was that Qin Tian needed to bear the consequences of his actions himself. If Wen Yu really intended to wage war against the military for Qin Tian, Wang Fucai didn’t want to be involved.

After several instances of scheming and conflict with Lin Haifeng, Wen Yu was no longer the naive fool he once was. He understood the deeper meaning behind Wang Fucai’s words the moment he heard them.

”Is that so…” Wen Yu murmured.

”I understand.”

He spoke calmly, but deep down, Wen Yu felt an extreme bitterness, as if he had swallowed something vile.

When I first established this small team, it seemed like everyone would respond to my call. A few simple words were enough to gather the second most powerful Human Race force on Earth. But, as Wang Fucai just pointed out, each individual is an independent entity, and people’s hearts are unpredictable. This is especially true for Qin Tian and the others, who were originally Independents—without some shrewdness, wouldn’t they have died in vain in the wilderness long ago? This simple little group was never truly united. When faced with real trouble, it collapses at the first touch! It looks fine when things are going smoothly, but once a life-or-death situation arises, these Independents run faster than anyone!

But then, wasn’t I the same? I had never truly invested anything genuine in these people. Now, from their perspective, it’s only natural that Qin Tian should bear the consequences of his own problems! At this thought, I suddenly felt sick… Disgusted not only with Lin Haifeng and Tang Haofei, but also with these so-called ”teammates” around me. I seemed like a leader, but in reality, I was just a babysitter. I appeared to have the glory of commanding everyone at my beck and call, but in truth, I was dealing with an endless stream of vexing problems. It seemed I had gained a few helpers, but in fact, I had shouldered far more responsibilities and obligations. And these were not my original intentions when I formed the team.

Indeed, it’s better to be alone…

This thought surged in Wen Yu’s mind, and he could no longer suppress it.

With this resolve, Wen Yu slowly put on his coat, thinking to himself, Alright then, let me do one last thing for Qin Tian, and for this small team.

The frigid Sword Light shot out from Qin Tian’s bone sword, appearing slow but actually moving with incredible speed.

The moment the Sword Light burst forth, a ferocious whistling sound resounded through the heavens and earth. Intense killing intent and a palpable threat washed over Lin Haifeng and his followers, who stood before Qin Tian, gripping their hearts with fear.

Irresistible… Touch it and die!

Qin Tian, at Peak Level 5, unleashing a Hundredfold Strike!

Even Wen Yu wouldn’t be sure if he could emerge unscathed from such a blow, let alone Lin Haifeng, Sea King, and their followers.

Seeing the terrified expression on Sea King’s face ahead and Lin Haifeng’s seemingly flustered but actually composed demeanor, Qin Tian sighed softly to himself.

If only this sword strike could eliminate that old scoundrel Lin Haifeng, what a spectacle that would be!

Although Qin Tian knew that since Lin Haifeng had orchestrated this, demanding he unleash this very strike, Lin Haifeng himself would undoubtedly have a way to deal with it, he still couldn’t help but feel a sliver of anticipation deep down.

However, the world isn’t filled with so many ’what ifs’.

”HOW DARE YOU!!!”

An even more brutal and terrifying roar suddenly echoed from the distance. Even though Qin Tian knew Tang Haofei was colluding with him in this setup and wouldn’t actually try to kill him, the sheer power contained in that roar still made Qin Tian’s expression change drastically.

BOOM!

A violent explosion thundered from afar. Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, Qin Tian vaguely glimpsed a burly figure rushing towards Lin Haifeng and Sea King like a cannonball.

Its speed was even faster than his Sword Light!
