Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Do we wait, or go out now?”

”Let’s wait. If Wen Yu doesn’t agree, these will really be our last 27 minutes!”

Upon hearing Ye Nan’s words, Akad and Zhang Shaojie were utterly speechless.

It was the truth, but it sounded rather pessimistic.

”Have a drink.”

Ye Nan took out a pile of food and alcohol from the space ring, laying it in front of Akad and Zhang Shaojie.

”A farewell drink?”

”More or less...”

Even at the brink of life and death, Ye Nan’s expression remained calm. Knowing there was a high probability Wanping wouldn’t escape, Ye Nan was genuinely prepared to face death calmly.

The gloomy mood quickly infected Zhang Shaojie and Akad. The three of them drank together, and the atmosphere grew somewhat heavy.

Unfortunately, this mood of ”contemplating life and death” didn’t last long.

BOOM!

An unexpected Oscillation sounded throughout the space.

”An earthquake?”

The three stared at each other, rather puzzled.

They had never heard of such occurrences, like earthquakes, in otherworldly spaces before.

BOOM! BOOM!

There were two more sounds, and then patterns resembling ripples spread from the entrance of the otherworldly space.

Seeing this, the three abruptly changed expressions.

This seemed like the precursor to the otherworldly space being breached... But who had this ability now? Wen Yu! Only Wen Yu was a possibility! If that were indeed the case, then the trio’s actions to buy their lives would be a complete joke!

Before Ye Nan and the others could finish their thoughts, a harsh grating sound emitted from the otherworldly space’s entrance. Following this was a HISS... that drew steadily closer.

The sound, like the Grim Reaper’s verdict, echoed in their ears—clear and seemingly prolonged.

However, it didn’t actually take long. Ye Nan felt a brilliant green light flash before her, and the next second, a tremendous force swept across her arm. The force was strong but lacked killing intent, nor did it cause her any harm.

However, after the green light passed, the Life-saving Money Ye Nan had been holding was gone.

Ye Nan clutched her empty hand, looking blankly at the equally bewildered Akad and Zhang Shaojie. After a long moment, she sighed bitterly.

”Let’s go. Since others can get in, there’s no need for us to hide!”

Outside, the Oscillation in Wen Yu’s mind still hadn’t settled.

But at least it was much better than before. Earlier, Wen Yu could only see the world in black and white; now, it was merely spinning.

Everything happening outside had been recounted word for word to Wen Yu by Star through their mental link. Once Wen Yu discovered that the mental link with his soul pets could effectively alleviate his mental Oscillation, the chatter from Star and his other two soul pets hadn’t stopped.

”I saw the Almighty Demon Vine turn into light and enter the space door directly. With a SNAP, the vortex on the otherworldly space door stopped rotating. In the blink of an eye, the Almighty Demon Vine reappeared from within the otherworldly space. However, at the front of the Almighty Demon Vine now was an object resembling a compass...”

Cyclops was narrating the situation outside in detail into Wen Yu’s mind, as if telling a story.

”Okay, okay, I’m much better now. Besides, I’m so close that I can sense what’s happening even with my eyes closed.”

Wen Yu felt much better and promptly interrupted Cyclops’ rambling.

Ahead of him, the Almighty Demon Vine, like a child who had done something wrong, slowly crept up to Wen Yu, lightly shaking the tip of its branch.

The key to the treasure land hanging at the end of the branch immediately made a JINGLE! JINGLE! sound.

Wen Yu, struggling against the pain in his mind, slowly sat up. Sensing the Spiritual Fluctuation from the Almighty Demon Vine conveying ”open it,” Wen Yu pointedly held out his empty hand.

”Head hurts, can’t open it!”

JINGLE, JINGLE, JINGLE...

The Almighty Demon Vine’s shaking became more intense.

But Wen Yu remained unfazed.

Wen Yu’s principle was simple: You must understand the distinction between master and servant! I am the master, and everything revolves around me! You can’t just do whatever you want and throw tantrums whenever you feel like it; I won’t tolerate that!

He held this attitude towards everyone, even his own soul pets.

After a while, the Almighty Demon Vine, perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s determination, immediately backed down.

A massive but gentle and warm Spiritual Fluctuation traveled from the core of the Almighty Demon Vine into Wen Yu’s mind.

It was like the incredibly refreshing sensation of being soaked in cold water on a hot summer’s day, emanating from his mind. In a short time, most of his mental trauma was healed!

Noticing this, Wen Yu slowly opened his eyes.

The Almighty Demon Vine before him looked the same as ever.

However, Wen Yu knew that the Almighty Demon Vine had undergone significant changes. From a functional perspective, these changes were positive. But considering what had just happened, he had to carefully weigh the pros and cons.

If he got caught up in a heated battle and the Almighty Demon Vine pulled this stunt, his fate would be sealed—death was certain!

Therefore, Wen Yu’s gaze slowly grew colder, and his right hand slowly clenched.

No matter how beneficial, anything that threatened his life had to be eliminated as soon as possible. Life was far more important than any Limit Breakthrough item!

Killing intent began to emanate. Sensing Wen Yu’s and his three soul pets’ gazes growing colder, the Almighty Demon Vine immediately stopped shaking.

Its foremost branch slowly straightened, like a person straightening their back.

After a while, a Spiritual Fluctuation traveled through the spiritual contract between Wen Yu and the Almighty Demon Vine, reaching Wen Yu’s mind.

”Human, I mean no harm...”

***

”Human, I mean no harm!”

This was no longer the previous vague, muddled understanding. The Spiritual Fluctuation that appeared in Wen Yu’s mind was filled with a sense of ancient vicissitudes and age, as well as vast and majestic power!

The vast Spiritual Fluctuation instantly made Wen Yu understand the current situation. The immense power he had just sensed wasn’t a contingency left by the Dominator or the Almighty Demon Vine’s creator within it; it was the Almighty Demon Vine’s own inherent power! Inside the Almighty Demon Vine, a Soul already existed! His act of feeding it the vine core hadn’t cultivated a new Soul. Instead, it had awakened a deeply hidden Soul within the Almighty Demon Vine, one that had lived for who knows how many countless years! This Soul contained boundless, majestic might. Faced with this power, it was predictable that a mere mental shock would turn Wen Yu into an imbecile!

Having understood all this, Wen Yu very decisively dispelled his killing intent.

”Then what do you want?”

The Almighty Demon Vine remained silent for a long moment, as if contemplating how to answer Wen Yu’s question.

After a while, the Almighty Demon Vine slowly spoke.

”I just... want to go home and see...”

”Home?”

Wen Yu laughed.

”What home do you have? Isn’t your home... my body?”

”No, my home is in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes! That world, which once birthed the powerful expert who came closest to being a Dominator!”
