Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

By then, he wouldn’t be able to stay at the Yanjing Assembly Site.

”If there’s anything, you can seek Tang Haofei...” Upon uttering these words, a laugh escaped Wen Yu’s lips.

”Ah, fine. I guess it will be a good idea to bother him. In general, Tang Haofei is trustworthy—as long as the matter isn’t involved with Lin Haifeng. If it is, you guys shouldn’t bother looking for anyone. You better run or brace yourselves for death.”

Yang Hong and Wang Fucai both laughed.

”Alright, go on with your business. I will take a look at the alliance ceremony, then I’ll be on my way.”

”Where are you headed?” Wen Yu responded with a mysterious smile.

”All around the world!”

This wasn’t an exaggeration. Wen Yu wanted to explore the world’s sights—or rather, he planned to hunt Demon Fiends across the globe and gain strength from treasure lands. With this journey, it seemed Wen Yu would have to endure the life of a wanderer.

Yet, wasn’t this what he wanted—to be distanced from people and matters, the complexities of human nature, the complications of life?

After bidding farewell to Yang Hong and Wang Fucai, Wen Yu adjusted the hood on his head and started walking toward another square in the outer city zone.

”Today, here, at the Yanjing Assembly Site, in front of the masses, I, Lin Haifeng, representing the Human Race, officially establish relations with the Sea Clan and form a mutual alliance!”

”Fate has brought the Human Race and the Sea Clan together to face the vast catastrophe!”

”Today’s alliance gives us reason to believe that we, the Earth’s beings, stand a chance against the invading Demon Tribe in the future and can restore Earth’s civilization to its former glory!”

”However... the unfortunate incident three days ago... It’s still reflected in our eyes.”

”The remnants of the Demon Worship Sect, in defiance of the historical process, attempted to disrupt our sacred alliance ceremony! As members of the Human Race, they willingly acted as the Demon Tribe’s puppets!”

”This is utterly contemptible.”

”Today, before the formal signing of the alliance, the Honorable Sea King and I, after careful deliberation, will sentence these traitors to death. The execution will be carried out immediately, in front of the audience present here and those viewing at home.”

As soon as his words fell, cheers erupted from the venue.

Standing atop a distant signal tower, Wen Yu watched the drama unfolding, his expression unchanging.

The so-called remnants of the Demon Worship Sect were obviously fabricated. Nevertheless, Lin Haifeng didn’t need to fool everyone. He only needed to deceive the Sea King and the majority; that would be enough.

He just wondered what expressions these so-called remnants of the Demon Worship Sect would wear...

Following Lin Haifeng’s ”judgment,” hordes of soldiers brought several hundred ”remnants” of the Demon Worship Sect onto the stage. Their bodies trembled—it was the fear of impending death.

No one is unafraid of death, right?

However, their determined gazes seemed to tell Wen Yu much more.

”Carry out the execution!!!”

As Lin Haifeng’s enthusiastic order fell, gunshots sounded.

”POP, POP, POP...”

Bodies fell.

Yet Xie Yan, who was kneeling at the very front, remained still. The firearms enhanced by magic could kill most low-level professionists, but for Xie Yan, their power was too weak.

Too weak indeed...

Therefore, Tang Haofei rose from his seat. He activated his space ring with his left hand, and a battle saber appeared in it.

”I’ll do it.” Tang Haofei’s calm voice reached the ears of Lin Haifeng, the Sea King, and Xie Yan.

”Dying at your hands... I have no grievances,” Xie Yan managed a stiff smile.

”I’ll guide your last journey.”

Hero... Tang Haofei spoke the first sentence aloud; the second, he silently recited in his heart.

”State your last words.”

Xie Yan glanced at the emotionally charged crowd before him and began to chuckle softly. His laughter grew louder until it echoed throughout the square!

”For the! Demon Tribe!!!”

”SCHWING...”

With one swift movement, Tang Haofei’s battle saber fell, decapitating Xie Yan. Blood sprayed.

A brave man. A pawn sacrificed in the political struggle. An innocent soul bearing undeserved blame, a diligent soldier. A simple and pure spirit, a true hero.

”Now, I declare the joint alliance ceremony between both races officially begins!!!”

Wen Yu didn’t watch any more.

It didn’t matter anymore...

Turning around, Wen Yu drifted down from the signal tower like a falling leaf. Then, he raised his right hand high and defiantly aimed his middle finger at Lin Haifeng and Tang Haofei in the distance. Wen Yu didn’t know if they could see it, but it didn’t matter. He just wanted to express his sentiment!

After witnessing the execution, Wen Yu’s opinion of the Yanjing Assembly Site had changed.

This place is a cesspit, and Lin Haifeng is the most prominent, hardened piece of shit at its peak.

Tang Haofei might not mind the filth and stench, but Wen Yu did.

This place chilled his heart even more than the Demon Realm’s Gate.

Let’s go, let’s go...

The further away, the better!

Wen Yu raised his head and looked at the Eternal Sky City floating high in the distance. Then, he waved and smiled at the Eternal Sky City.

Goodbye, and never meet again.

Inside the city, with the successful conclusion of the alliance ceremony, the entire populace burst into excitement and revelry.

Outside the city, with the successful conclusion of the alliance ceremony, Wen Yu stood alone—confused, heartbroken, and solitary.

The city’s revelry... A man’s solitude.
