Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Far away, Wen Yu slept soundly. But the world wouldn’t care about Wen Yu’s state. Every moment, the world kept turning, kept changing.

In M City, just a stone’s throw from Wen Yu, an ”inconsequential little something” was quietly brewing.

...

BANG!

The sound of a shattering bottle echoed. Wanping expressionlessly watched the distant shards of shattered glass, then pulled another bottle of baijiu from his space ring.

”Damn Vincent! Can’t even watch over a captive properly, landing me in such deep trouble for no reason!”

”And Ye Nan, that lucky bastard! If I hadn’t spared you back then, you’d have damn well reincarnated as some animal by now!”

As Wanping cursed, he fiercely gulped down a large mouthful of baijiu.

After leaving the Yanjing Assembly Site, Wanping’s days...

Were truly hard!

For Wanping, his Peak Level 5 strength had already reached its limit. To evade Wen Yu’s pursuit and erase any clues that might lead Wen Yu to him, Wanping hadn’t dared to leave any informants in the former Three Skulls Society.

Little did he know, in Wen Yu’s eyes, he was just small fry. One could only imagine his reaction if he ever found out!

Wandering alone out here, with his strength, as long as he was a bit careful, he shouldn’t encounter any real danger.

However, Wanping knew full well that his Peak Level 5 strength was not enough capital for his revenge. So, as Wanping headed back to M City, he continuously searched for information on treasure lands along the way, hoping to find some abilities or items that could help him achieve a Limit Breakthrough.

Even though he knew the hope was slim, he couldn’t just do nothing.

And, just as Wanping had anticipated, he found nothing. Limit Breakthrough Level items and skills were not so easy to come by, after all!

After returning to M City, Wanping hunted Demon Fiends while continuing his search for clues to treasure lands.

However, Wanping didn’t find a treasure land; instead, Ye Nan and Akad found him!

Upon spotting Akad and Ye Nan’s figures in the distance, Wanping immediately chose to relocate.

Wanping himself was unaware that Akad had been crippled by Vincent; he still assumed Akad’s strength was fully restored.

Seeing Akad and Ye Nan, his two great enemies, together, fleeing immediately became Wanping’s only choice!

And after that escape, Wanping never dared to show his face again!

...

This disparity in information led Wanping to choose to lie low.

Strictly speaking, Wanping’s current strength wasn’t weaker than Ye Nan’s group of three.

It could only be said to be the workings of fate.

At this moment, Wanping was huddled in an abandoned warehouse, drinking while pondering his next move.

”Damn it, if this doesn’t work, I’ll just run farther! All the way to Russia!”

Akad in his prime definitely possessed the ability to kill Wanping, so Wanping’s current thoughts weren’t entirely baseless.

Thinking of this, Wanping didn’t even bother with his drink. He immediately took out a huge map from his space ring and began to meticulously plan his escape route.

This planning session lasted an entire night!

...

Only when the first ray of sunlight shone through the small window into the abandoned warehouse where Wanping was hiding did he finally complete his ”work.”

He stretched lazily, looked at the red line on the map, and nodded with satisfaction.

There were no problems. Escaping via this route would allow him to leave Cathay in the shortest possible time. And once he left Cathay, left this gathering place of his enemies, with the world so vast, where could he, Wanping, not go?

Thinking of this, Wanping took a satisfied sip of baijiu. Just as he was about to take some food out from his space ring, the faint sound of footsteps suddenly echoed from afar.

The footsteps were very faint, but their direction was exceptionally clear—they were heading straight for him!

This meant one thing: the newcomer was stronger than him! At the very least, their Perception Ability was a whole tier stronger than his!

Akad!

That name instantly flashed through Wanping’s mind. Sensing the approaching danger, Wanping immediately held his breath, doing his utmost to retract his aura, while slowly unbuttoning his shirt to reveal the two ferocious ghost faces on his chest.

If escape was impossible, then he would fight to the death!

Wanping had his schemes, but having clawed his way to his current strength, he naturally wasn’t lacking in courage.

The distant footsteps immediately quickened!

The newcomer had realized that Wanping had detected them!

...

BANG!

The wrought-iron gate was violently ripped apart by the person outside. Immediately after, three Evil Spirit Swarms struck the newcomer in quick succession.

”Wait!”

A dazzlingly bright white light flashed from the newcomer, instantly disintegrating Wanping’s attack. At the same time, a voice called out.

It was only when he sensed the white light that Wanping realized the newcomer wasn’t Akad—furthermore, their strength was even greater than Akad’s had been in his prime!

Fixing his gaze, Wanping was stunned when he saw the familiar figure. The next moment, a complex smile, one that couldn’t be described as either joyful or happy, tugged at the corners of his lips.

”Kasu,” Wanping muttered.

...

Wanping naturally recognized Kasu.

Previously, Kasu and Vincent had jointly formed a special operations team to hunt Akad, and Wanping, being a double-dealer, had interacted with Vincent frequently.

Although Wanping wasn’t well-acquainted with Kasu, he at least recognized his face.

And Kasu, upon seeing Wanping, was also clearly taken aback.

The leader of the Three Skulls Society—Kasu naturally recognized him too.

”You’re Wanping, correct? That crime-ridden underworld boss!”

Sometimes, the world truly is this small.

...

”You are Wanping, right? That crime-ridden underworld boss!”

Kasu’s words instantly sparked a terrible premonition in Wanping’s heart.

Wanping had forgotten: Kasu was, without a doubt, the person he had ever met who most abhorred evil, and the most inclined to meddle in others’ affairs.

In common parlance, he was the legendary... self-righteous... bastard.

The most terrifying part was that this self-righteous bastard was incredibly powerful!

And as for himself, a gang leader, had he committed few acts of bullying men and dominating women? Not few at all! On the contrary, he’d done plenty!

One could only imagine Kasu’s perception of him. It was highly probable that in the next second, a Holy Light would erupt and send him back to Mother Earth’s embrace.

Fortunately, although Kasu was staring intently at him, he made no immediate move.

Seeing this, Wanping finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Since Kasu hadn’t killed him on the spot, there was still room to maneuver...

...

Indeed, there was room to maneuver.

Kasu’s dissatisfaction with Vincent and the military had completely erupted. This occurred after Vincent committed a serious violation of military regulations by secretly detaining Akad, and then, by leveraging his Sequence Number 10 status, evaded the military’s severe punishment.

God loves all people, and God is absolutely just.

Yet, the military differentiated in its treatment between those with Sequence Ranks and ordinary individuals, turning a blind eye to major transgressions. It was evident to all the immense trouble Akad’s personality would cause should he escape.

Kasu could no longer tolerate the military’s methods and attitude, so he left the military quite decisively.
