Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Excellent... excellent...”

A continuous stream of ’excellent’ emanated from the newly born Soul Body, causing Wen Yu to look perplexed.

No matter how great it is, shouldn’t you let me know how to use it? This energy seeped directly into my body without causing any change. It’s like going to a hospital where the doctor infuses me with a heap of inexplicable things, only mentioning they’re beneficial without explaining any practical uses.

This was indeed incredibly discomforting to Wen Yu!

”Excellent... excellent... hungry...”

Fine, I’ll feed you first.

Within a span of three short hours, Wen Yu didn’t know how many kilometers he had run or his current location. All he knew was that the number of Demon Fiends surrounding him was increasing!

This was definitely good news.

The Almighty Demon Vine’s brutal slaughter continued. As its Soul Body grew stronger, its emotional fluctuations became more intense! Even in the final stages, Wen Yu could clearly sense the Almighty Demon Vine’s emotions.

Its purity and innocence were gone, replaced by a wave of ruthless and bloodthirsty emotions.

Wen Yu wasn’t sure if these emotions were good or bad. Although he wasn’t naïve himself, he definitely preferred innocent little creatures.

Like Star, like the vine that had died.

Compared to a normal Soul Body, this newborn one seemed to possess an inherent factor of ruthlessness and bloodthirstiness.

Wen Yu had a premonition: this would be a bloodthirsty, cruel, and evil Soul!

”More! More flesh!”

The innocent voice, tinged with bloodthirsty desires in the Spiritual Fluctuation, gave Wen Yu an eerie feeling!

Regardless, these weren’t important!

The Soul Body’s bloodthirsty desires were extremely intense. Coupled with this being the crucial moment for its growth and incubation, Wen Yu didn’t care about its attribute—As long as it’s strong enough, and the feedback benefits are sufficient, what do I care if it’s an evil spirit or a good one?

Currently, the Almighty Demon Vine’s attribute change was enough to whet Wen Yu’s appetite!

「Another three hours passed.」

When Wen Yu perceived a palpable change in the air temperature, the Almighty Demon Vine finally ceased moving.

The emerald-colored branches curled into a ball, then slowly re-entered Wen Yu’s body. It was satiated.

His senses, guided by the contract, directly permeated the core of the Almighty Demon Vine. Inside, the myriad of white light spots that had once danced about had all vanished. In their place was a cluster of light pulsing with an eerie red glow.

The cluster of light quivered, as if gestating something—this was the future Soul of the Almighty Demon Vine! However, one thing was strange...

Wen Yu didn’t know why the Almighty Demon Vine would give birth to a Soul so strikingly different from the vine it had devoured!

Perhaps only the Dominator and the Almighty Demon Vine’s creator from the past Xianxia civilization would know.

Of course, this didn’t particularly catch Wen Yu’s attention or cause him concern.

Compared to the unknown, and whether this change is good or bad, the benefits right in front of me are more important. I can’t just erase the Almighty Demon Vine’s Soul over a small concern, can I?

If he were to erase it, Wen Yu truly didn’t know if the Almighty Demon Vine would still possess these newfound extraordinary abilities!

Wen Yu attempted to command the Almighty Demon Vine.

The Almighty Demon Vine showed no reaction. However, feedback from its Soul Body clearly informed Wen Yu that it needed three days to adapt to its changes and stabilize its soul.

Three days felt neither too long nor too short. For the sake of the Almighty Demon Vine’s transformation, Wen Yu could definitely afford to wait.

Having sorted through these thoughts, Wen Yu finally raised his head and surveyed his surroundings.

In the distance lay a scorched yellow grassland, blanketed with dots of white snow.

The winter grassland wasn’t exactly spectacular or beautiful; in Wen Yu’s eyes, it was just... like this.

After carefully inspecting the surroundings, Wen Yu had a revelation.

It seemed he had run all the way to Inner Mongolia or Mongolia...

For Wen Yu, crossing provinces or even countries within a few hours wasn’t difficult at all!

Having resolved the Almighty Demon Vine issue, coupled with his cluelessness about his current location, Wen Yu felt somewhat disoriented.

His initial plan was to visit HL Town and then return to CH Town. However, after everything that had happened, Wen Yu genuinely needed to reconsider if he should still stick to his original plan.

The plan Wen Yu had originally formulated was quite flexible anyway—it was essentially to play things by ear. How could it not be flexible?

Altering the plan now seemed acceptable.

With this in mind, Wen Yu disengaged his battle stance, preparing to release a few soul pets to discuss the matter.

Upon opening the second, third, and 5th Soul Realms, three purple rays of light flickered in mid-air, and three soul pets emerged from the Soul Realm space.

”Boss, what are you doing...? Suddenly recalling me—you scared me,” the Cyclops chattered on, muttering.

Among the soul pets, Cyclops was definitely the most talkative!

However, the expressions on Star and Victor left Wen Yu bemused.

Both pairs of eyes stared intently at Wen Yu. Star even climbed onto Wen Yu’s head, sniffing his hair vigorously.

”What are you two doing?”

Wen Yu grabbed Star from his head, gave its body a little shake, and asked curiously.

”SNIFF... SNIFF...”

Star twitched its nose a couple more times, its gaze on Wen Yu growing increasingly strange.

After a moment, Victor sauntered over to Wen Yu’s feet with feline grace, asking with a puzzled expression, ”Wen Yu, when did you become a divine beast?”

Divine beast...

Divine beast?

Victor’s words struck Wen Yu’s mind like a clap of thunder.

In just an instant, Wen Yu recalled the unknown energy the Almighty Demon Vine had just extracted from the earth. But then, he gently swung his arms.

”No way! I can feel that there hasn’t been much enhancement in my species innate talent.”

Thinking this, Wen Yu glanced at the three soul pets’ puzzled gazes and decisively recounted what had just happened.

”Not enough energy!”

Victor promptly pinpointed the truth.

”I estimate that the Almighty Demon Vine must have acquired the ability to extract Origin Energy from Earth. Divine beasts are creatures of Earth empowered by its Origin Energy. You extracted Origin Energy from Earth without its acknowledgment; that’s thuggish behavior...”

”But fundamentally, there’s no difference! We are Innate-type divine beasts, while you’re a Post-transformation type!”

”But I don’t feel any different than before, do I?”

Wen Yu had always coveted the power and species innate talent of divine beasts. Tang Haofei was so formidable largely because he was a divine beast; it would be a lie to say Wen Yu wasn’t envious!
