Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

If Ye Nan were to appear before him while Akad was completely crippled, Wanping could easily predict what would happen next.

He’d just make a quick turn, forcing Kasu and Ye Nan’s group to face each other, while he himself would flee in a different direction.

Absolute perfection.

However, Wanping’s personal will couldn’t alter the course of events.

When the three presences in the residential area suddenly changed direction and started running back the way they came, Wanping knew deep down that his best-case scenario was slipping away...

This didn’t take Wanping by surprise.

So, Wanping opened his mouth wide and shouted, ”Kasu, Akad is right in front of you!”

Then, without hesitation, Wanping turned around and dashed to the right.

...

Kasu, who was behind Wanping, was taken aback when he heard Wanping’s loud shout.

He then squinted and carefully tried to sense his surroundings...

But he couldn’t sense anything...

A professionist’s Perception Ability relies on their skills and physical attributes.

However, for a Peak Level 5 professionist, physical attributes were uniformly 2,000 points. Although Kasu himself had a skill that could slightly enhance perception, it was merely an auxiliary ability, and its enhancement effect wasn’t very noticeable.

In other words, Kasu’s Perception Ability was only slightly superior to that of Wanping and Zhang Shaojie.

As it stood, Kasu could perceive Wanping; Wanping could perceive Kasu and Ye Nan’s group; and Ye Nan’s group could perceive the white light generated by Wanping’s and Kasu’s skills.

The three groups formed an increasingly bizarre chain of pursuit.

...

Since he couldn’t perceive Akad, Kasu’s choice was simple.

Continue chasing Wanping!

If Kasu truly had to face both Akad and Wanping at the same time, he would indeed choose to kill Akad first.

However, since he hadn’t found Akad, Kasu’s target could only be Wanping.

Poor Wanping hadn’t initially considered the matter of perception range. Moreover, it was evident that Kasu wouldn’t change his target based on a statement from Wanping whose truth he couldn’t verify.

Thus, changing direction had been a futile effort.

When the white light continued to follow closely behind him, Wanping quickly figured out the reason.

SMACK.

A self-inflicted slap landed on his face. Drinking really messes things up! Wanping lamented. The alcohol has numbed my brain, even making my intelligence plummet!

Having figured this out, Wanping, without any hesitation, casually retrieved a large pile of items from his space ring.

He unleashed countless items for effects like acceleration and spatial transfer, then once again adjusted his direction, closely following Ye Nan’s group.

Ye Nan’s group of three was in the lead, with Wanping in the middle, and Kasu at the rear.

The three groups formed a straight line, continuously rushing into the distance.

...

”This is bad, they’re too fast!”

Zhang Shaojie, carrying Ye Nan on one shoulder and gripping Akad with his other hand, sprinted like a heavy tank, his thick, sturdy legs pumping furiously.

However, compared to Wanping, who had items, and Kasu, who possessed absolute strength, Zhang Shaojie, burdened with two extra people, was clearly struggling to keep pace.

”Akad, release the blood slaves!”

At Ye Nan’s command, Akad’s arm seemed to melt. Drops of viscous, blood-like liquid fell to the ground and rapidly transformed into ferocious, crimson Demon Fiends.

The River of Death could convert creatures Akad himself had killed into citizens of the Nation of Death, granting him additional lives. But with Akad’s strength completely crippled, the ”lives” provided by the River of Death no longer held much combat significance.

Now, the River of Death had instead become a strong summoning ability—much like summoning Netherworld Warriors from the Netherworld.

With a mere thought from Akad, the blood slaves howled and charged backward, attempting to slow Wanping’s advance.

Unfortunately, Akad, having just endured a great calamity, had too little recovery time. As a result, he had no decent blood slaves at his disposal.

This cannon fodder couldn’t even delay Wanping for a second!

...

”At most, Wanping will catch up to us in three minutes. By then, we’ll also be within Kasu’s perception range.”

In other words, when that time comes, we’re dead for sure!

”The blood slaves are too weak to intercept him.”

Zhang Shaojie and Akad took turns reporting the current situation to Ye Nan in detail—none of it was good news.

Ye Nan pondered for a moment, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.

”Where are we now?”

”The East District of City M. We’re almost out of the urban area.”

”How far is CH Town from here?”

”Not far. We’re headed in the right direction.”

”Go to CH Town and find Wen Yu! Wen Yu is in CH Town right now!”

Back when Ye Nan and Wen Yu were neighbors, Ye Nan had heard Wen Yu mention CH Town. Being meticulous, Ye Nan had remembered this piece of information.

Although Ye Nan wasn’t at all certain if Wen Yu was currently in CH Town, given their current predicament and the fact that their direction was generally correct, what was the harm in trying a desperate measure? It was worth a shot.

And so, on this bright sunny morning, Ye Nan, with his two ”underlings” and two pursuers in tow, frantically headed towards Wen Yu’s presumed location.

Meanwhile, Wen Yu had already opened his eyes in his tent.

...

”Ye Nan, you little bastard! I never should have been merciful and spared you back then!” Wanping raged.

”And Akad, you’re already crippled, yet you still dare to show your face before me? Today, I’ll have Kasu send you straight to hell!”

”And Kasu, you shit-stirrer! Are you so damn idle you’ve got nothing better to do? What damn business is it of yours if I kill a few people?”

Wanping, stuck in the middle, cursed relentlessly, ”greeting” the enemies in front and the ”shit-stirrer” behind.

This wasn’t a sudden whim but a little trick of Wanping’s—he was trying to use this method to divert Kasu’s attention to Akad and his party.

In fact, Kasu had already spotted Akad’s figure up ahead.

In terms of speed, Kasu was faster than Wanping, who was faster than Zhang Shaojie; this was an undeniable fact. As the chase progressed, the distance between the three groups had significantly shrunk.

It had shrunk so much that Kasu could even see Zhang Shaojie.

But Wanping, trapped in the middle, had now lost any possibility of escape. Kasu was too close to him—so close that if Wanping stopped or changed direction, he would most likely be met with an explosive attack from Kasu!

...

”HUFF... HUFF... Ye Nan, are we almost there?” Zhang Shaojie asked, panting heavily.

”Hold on. We’re almost there,” Ye Nan responded nonchalantly, then turned to check the situation behind them.

That fellow Wanping is still tailing us, just a few thousand meters behind, Ye Nan observed. And high in the sky, less than 20,000 meters away, pure white light is scattering everywhere. It probably won’t even take a minute for Kasu to catch up to us.

Fortunately, just moments ago, Zhang Shaojie had run past the vine-covered HL Town. Ahead, an open expanse of sandy land was already faintly visible.

...

Wen Yu had woken up and crawled out of his tent. Holding a bottle of mineral water in one hand, he casually wiped his face and tidied himself up a bit, all while kicking awake the few soul pets at his feet.

”Wake up. We have company.”

Wen Yu’s physical attributes had strengthened his Perception Ability to a terrifying degree. Even in a hazy, half-asleep state, he remained keenly aware of any commotion in the distance.

This early in the morning, the distant white light, the explosive Energy Fluctuations, combined with hurried footsteps and the sound of familiar voices cursing—despite the great distance, Wen Yu had pieced together a clear picture of what was happening.

At this thought, Wen Yu’s lips curled into a smirk. I didn’t expect this Wanping... Heaven has a path, but you refuse to take it; Hell has no gate, yet you insist on barging in. That’s certainly one way to court death...

For a moment, Wen Yu could only marvel at his own luck.

I’ve only been back in City M for a few days, and it looks like I’ll be able to resolve one of my long-standing concerns.

...

Seeing the familiar figure before him, Ye Nan didn’t quite know what expression to wear.

He stood rooted to the spot, stunned for a long moment, before finally having Zhang Shaojie put him down. Then, with Akad and Zhang Shaojie, he walked over to Wen Yu.

”Wen Yu, um...”

”Shh. Let’s wait until everyone is here before we talk.”

After saying this, Wen Yu immediately gave a meaningful glance to his three soul pets.

Three small figures instantly stirred up a Gale, rushing back in the direction Ye Nan had come from.
