Wilderness Survival with Druid System

”I need an explanation!”

Enzo glared at Habakkuk with barely concealed hostility.

But Habakkuk had already regained his composure at this moment.

He knew very well that now was the time to change the subject, rather than dwell on his failure.

So Habakkuk quickly said, ”Boss! We still have a chance to make amends!”

”There’s something strange about Chen Wen. Instead of targeting him, we should go directly after his teammates, get them under control, and then use them to force him to show up. What do you think?”

Hearing this, Enzo’s anger dissipated somewhat.

He asked, ”Can it work?”

Habakkuk confidently asserted, ”This time it will definitely work! A group is always easier to catch than an individual!”

”All right!”

Enzo ceased dwelling on the failure and said, ”Then let’s capture Chen Wen’s teammates first!”

The group immediately sprang into action.

But above them, Chen Wen, who had transformed into a Hemeriguille, tilted his head as he observed the group.

In his heart, he thought: Are these people out of their minds?

Attempting to chase Hua Yun and the others in this environment and terrain felt like pure folly.

Through his observations, Chen Wen gradually discerned the team’s structure.

The bearded white man was a core member of Hunting Owl, while the other white man seemed to play the role of a strategist, with the two brown-skinned individuals merely being enforcers.

The two white men’s wilderness trekking abilities were average, but the speed of the two brown-skinned ones was somewhat decent.

However, catching up to Hua Yun and the others would still be rather difficult.

Compared to the previous group, this one posed less of a threat, giving Chen Wen the impression that they were rather dim-witted.

Nevertheless, despite his thoughts, Chen Wen remained wary of this group’s threat.

Thus, in his Hemeriguille form, Chen Wen flapped his wings, quickly following them.

...

As Chen Wen had predicted,

after following the trail left by Hua Yun and the others for about a kilometer, the group began to struggle.

The heat and humidity, compounded by the bushy terrain, made it unbearable for them.

Meanwhile, Hua Yun and the others had long since adapted to these surroundings and terrain.

As a result, their speed was significantly faster.

Seeing the group stop, Chen Wen felt a sense of relief.

He promptly returned to the scene of the earlier attack, reverted to his original form, and took both his long spear and backpack.

...

In the distance.

After running for over an hour, Hua Yun and the group finally stopped, drenched in sweat.

”How is it? Have we shaken them off?”

Hua Yun turned back, staring at the shadowy path behind, heart pounding.

Adam, with a somber expression, carefully assessed the situation: ”We probably have. They might not adapt well to this environment and terrain, which would slow them down. Plus, we deliberately left some misleading footprints along the way.”

Dennis, clutching his waist, showed a worried look: ”We’re safe, but we have no idea about Chen Wen’s situation!”

The atmosphere turned heavy with Dennis’ words.

Then, Fred suddenly said, ”Did you notice that Australian Wild Dog Chen Wen just tamed? Why didn’t it come with us?”

Everyone was stunned by his words.

In their frantic escape, no one had thought to check on Dahuang’s state.

Upon Fred’s remark, Hua Yun immediately realized something was amiss.

She continued, ”And that snake is also missing. The Hemeriguille usually flies high, and it hasn’t followed us either.”

Adam felt a headache coming on: ”What do we do now? We weren’t able to help Chen Wen, and we also lost track of the Australian Wild Dog. Ugh! Such a failure!”

The group fell silent, unsure of what to do next.

Without Chen Wen, the team felt as if it had lost its backbone and suddenly became downcast.

...

As for Chen Wen,

he didn’t run around aimlessly with his supplies.

Following the path of the two men who had fired shots, he planned to check out their camp.

But not long after Chen Wen set out, the Hemeriguille descended from above, catching up to him.

”What happened? Why did they suddenly attack you?”

The Hemeriguille was still confused about the current situation.

Chen Wen extended his hand to calm the somewhat nervous Hemeriguille: ”It’s okay. These people are accomplices of those from before, but their skills, ha, are much inferior compared to the previous group.”

As he spoke, Chen Wen suddenly heard a noise from behind.

Looking back, he saw Dahuang emerge swiftly from the underbrush, carrying the Taipan Snake on its back.

”Why are you two here?”

Seeing them both, Chen Wen was genuinely taken aback.

Initially, he hadn’t brought Dahuang and the Taipan Snake along for fear they might be caught in the crossfire and endangered.

Moreover, it seemed safer to stay with Hua Yun and the others, who were not the primary targets.

At that moment, the Taipan Snake slithered down from Dahuang’s back and swiftly crawled into Chen Wen’s backpack.

It then poked its head out and said, ”We’re a team, who else would we follow if not you?”

Dahuang barked twice, echoing the Taipan Snake’s sentiment.

Their earnest emotions deeply moved Chen Wen.

He stretched out his hand, rubbing Dahuang’s head, and gently brushed his fingers against the Taipan Snake’s body.

”Alright, since you’ve both come, let’s not go back!”

By now, Chen Wen had formulated a grand plan.

This dense jungle was nothing like the desert, where numbers made actions easier; here, the fewer the people, the better.

As such, Chen Wen decided against rejoining Hua Yun and the others.

He officially severed ties with the group.

Partly to counter the threat from the Hunting Owl, and partly to seize this opportunity to obtain important entries.

Once decided,

Chen Wen turned to the Hemeriguille. He needed to relay a message to Hua Yun and the others through the Hemeriguille, letting them know he was safe but unable to reunite with them.

He found a stick and carved special contact symbols from the Hua Association: one signifying safety, the other indicating solo action.

Once finished,

Chen Wen tasked the Hemeriguille to ensure this stick reached Hua Yun, then come back to meet him.

The Hemeriguille rapidly flew away.

During the earlier chaos, it remembered the direction Hua Yun and the others had fled.

Tracing them from above would be relatively easy.

After seeing the Hemeriguille off, Chen Wen picked up his long spear and began retracing the Hunting Owl’s footprints back to their camp.

Following the tracks for several minutes,

Chen Wen discovered the Hunting Owl’s camp.

Their campsite was situated at the edge of a forest, equipped with tents, food, and a rather remarkable off-road jeep.

Chen Wen’s eyes lit up at the sight of food.

They had plentiful canned goods among their supplies.

Especially a notable number of canned fish!

Chen Wen didn’t take much, just two cans for his own indulgence.

Additionally, he uncovered some smoked meat,

which looked like beef.

He took some for Dahuang’s nourishment.

After a quick sweep, Chen Wen had Dahuang and the Taipan Snake tucked away safely with the supplies at an ideal location.

Then he transformed once more.

This time, he opted for the Hemeriguille form, leveraging its small size and flight ability to keep tabs on the Hunting Owl team.

And to strike at an opportune moment.

Utilizing his venomous abilities to give them a taste of being poisoned.

The earlier shooting incident left Chen Wen both furious and bewildered.

He hadn’t expected the Hunting Owl members to be so cold-blooded and ruthless.

These self-proclaimed hunters targeting Chen Wen in the wild didn’t realize.

The roles had now reversed!

As for the jeep and the Hunting Owl’s camp, Chen Wen left them untouched.

Because once the Hunting Owl was dealt with, wouldn’t all this be his?
