Wilderness Survival with Druid System

While Enzo and Habakkuk were talking.

Ahead of them, two brown-skinned men in light-colored short sleeves came walking.

In their hands, they were carrying two animals that Chen Wen was very familiar with—Australian Wild Dogs.

One of them approached Habakkuk and gestured while saying a bunch of things.

Habakkuk impatiently nodded and then changed his expression, speaking to Enzo: ”Mr. Enzo, they want to hunt more Australian Wild Dogs for food.”

Upon hearing this, Enzo hesitated for a moment: ”According to our estimated time, aren’t we about to encounter those people?”

”Hard to say.”

Habakkuk gave his analysis: ”The earlier flood, along with the heavy rain a few days ago, could have slowed their progress. I feel that survival kid isn’t particularly formidable, so I think they shouldn’t be arriving here on time.”

Upon hearing this, Enzo slightly nodded.

He felt that Habakkuk was probably right.

Even for someone like him who previously served in the special forces of an African country, highly skilled in wilderness survival, it took a long time to reach the planned ambush location due to this weather.

That kid named Chen Wen shouldn’t arrive here early, right?

Enzo said: ”Later, we’ll need their help, so let them go find something to eat. Let’s leave them be, and let’s set up camp, ready for ’hunting’!”

...

They had walked for five days.

Chen Wen and the others arrived at the other side of the plains.

”If we put in more effort today, we should be able to walk out!”

Chen Wen said as he wiped the sweat from his forehead.

Over time, the once cool weather became muggy again.

They must get out today.

Otherwise, not to mention Fred, even Dennis and Adam wouldn’t be able to withstand such oppressive weather.

They advanced for about an hour or so.

They regularly took breaks under the trees.

But during the rest period, Chen Wen suddenly heard a strange sound in the distance, not quite clear but seeming like some kind of canine whimpering.

”What’s that noise?”

Chen Wen hesitantly asked.

When Dennis heard Chen Wen’s question, he furrowed his brows: ”What? Did you hear some strange sound?”

Chen Wen remained silent, still carefully listening to the sound.

Dennis wanted to ask further, but Adam motioned for him to stop.

”Something’s not right!”

Adam said: ”There is indeed a very strange sound, like some kind of animal whimpering?”

Hua Yun nodded as well: ”Yes, but the sound is quite far from us, so it sounds faint.”

Fred looked utterly confused.

His hearing was average.

At this moment, Dennis said: ”Wait, I hear it too. Can you tell what animal this sound is from?”

”No, the sound is too faint to be sure.”

Chen Wen shook his head.

But soon, excitement flashed in his eyes: ”Whatever it is, why don’t we go and check it out?”

Upon hearing this, everyone was taken aback.

Their minds still focused on staying away from unknown dangers.

But Chen Wen made a clicking sound that woke them up: ”Folks! There are five of us, five adults! And we have weapons! Aren’t we capable of walking freely on this piece of Australian land? What are we afraid of?”

”If it’s not edible, then we don’t pay attention to it as long as it doesn’t provoke us. But if it is edible, listen up, we’re quite low on meat right now!”

Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes lit up.

Indeed!

Since they finished the kangaroo meat, they’ve not had the chance to seek new meat.

But now, an opportunity has presented itself before them.

”Let’s go! Check it out!”

Dennis said excitedly.

Seeing Dennis like this, the others no longer hesitated.

They put down their luggage, left Adam to guard, and armed themselves lightly, moving towards where the sound was coming from.

...

In the dense woods, as they progressed, the whimpering sound became increasingly obvious.

Moreover, they gradually figured out the species of the animal making the sound.

”It should be an Australian Wild Dog.”

Chen Wen said softly: ”This sound is quite typical of domestic dogs whimpering, and it sounds... sad.”

Upon hearing this, Dennis slightly nodded.

He too recognized it, but why was this wild dog making such a sound?

He was puzzled.

Hua Yun furrowed her brows tightly, for some reason, she had a bad feeling.

Soon, under Chen Wen’s lead, they gradually reached a slope.

The sound was coming from the other side of the slope.

Chen Wen raised his hand lightly, gesturing for everyone to stop.

Next, he gestured with his hands, signaling a simple message—pair up, form an encirclement!

Receiving the signal, Dennis immediately followed Fred.

One held an axe, the other held a knife, starting to circle around.

Chen Wen carried a long spear, circling from the other side, while Hua Yun held a bow and followed Chen Wen.

Soon, as they kept approaching.

The Australian Wild Dog making the sound seemed to notice something was wrong.

Its whimpering gradually decreased until it was silent.

Feeling he had been discovered, Chen Wen signaled Hua Yun: I’ll charge directly, you cover me!

Hua Yun understood.

She squatted down and readied her bow.

If the Australian Wild Dog dared to come out of the slope, she could immediately shoot it down.

Once Hua Yun was in place, Chen Wen took a deep breath and charged out fiercely.

As the heavy footsteps echoed, the Australian Wild Dog that had stopped whimpering barked viciously.

When Chen Wen appeared before it, the adult Australian Wild Dog lunged at him immediately.

But it underestimated Chen Wen and overestimated itself.

Before the sharp teeth of the Australian Wild Dog could tear his skin, Chen Wen reached out and grasped the back of the dog’s neck.

With destiny’s grip on its neck, the Australian Wild Dog twisted fiercely, biting back, trying to latch onto Chen Wen’s wrist.

But Chen Wen wouldn’t give it such a chance.

He decisively pinned the Australian Wild Dog against the tree, pressing its head firmly against the trunk, preventing it from turning back to bite.

”Damn Husky, this dog’s really fierce!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help commenting.

After controlling the Australian Wild Dog, Chen Wen surveyed the situation.

Soon, he frowned and shouted to those around him: ”Everyone come over! There’s only one living Australian Wild Dog, and I’ve got it under control!”

Upon hearing this, Hua Yun quickly approached.

After seeing the situation clearly, she frowned too.

By this time, Dennis and Fred had finally circled around.

Looking at the two who were quite late, Chen Wen remembered a phrase his teammates often told him when gaming: I’m on my way, I’m coming!

But most of the time, by the time the teammates arrived, Chen Wen was already lying down peacefully.
