Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Red kangaroos, as the largest marsupials, are covered with solid muscles.

Moreover, these big guys are very good at jumping, and each leap can exceed a meter when moving slowly.

But once they are frightened, these big guys run for their lives.

Each of their jumps can reach over 9 meters!

Their short-term escaping speed can reach 50-64 kilometers per hour!

The average speed of humans is only about ten kilometers per hour.

Even if Bolt was brought in, his maximum instantaneous speed is only 44.7 kilometers per hour.

Can’t even reach the baseline for red kangaroos.

Therefore, chasing red kangaroos for hunting is impossible.

Everyone sat around the camp, contemplating for a long time.

Finally, Chen Wen said, ”Sitting around won’t solve anything. I’ll go try to see at what distance they notice us and react.”

No one objected.

Even Dennis didn’t know how far the kangaroos’ alert distance was.

With this thought, Chen Wen picked up the long spear and walked slowly towards the forest where the kangaroos were.

Four hundred meters, three hundred meters, two hundred meters...

Soon, when he was about a hundred meters from the group of kangaroos.

A red kangaroo squatting around the forest spotted Chen Wen.

It raised its head to observe this strange animal, eyes flashing with vigilance.

This red kangaroo immediately made a cough-like sound, not very loud, but it reached Chen Wen.

After hearing this sound, he immediately stopped in his tracks.

The coughing sound is a signal kangaroos give to alert the group when scared.

It also serves as a warning to outsiders.

If you continue to approach after hearing this sound, red kangaroos will immediately thump the ground with their hind feet, creating a loud noise.

The entire group will then flee and won’t stop until they’re several kilometers away.

Chen Wen knew this well and immediately retreated slowly, not alarming the group of red kangaroos.

And the sentry red kangaroo, seeing Chen Wen retreat, didn’t continue to raise the alarm.

Watching Chen Wen departure thoroughly, it continued to crouch on the ground as a lookout.

...

”How’s it?”

Seeing Chen Wen return, Hua Yun eagerly asked.

Chen Wen shook his head slightly: ”Without any cover, at about a little over a hundred meters, red kangaroos can spot us.”

Hearing this news, everyone’s expressions froze.

A little over a hundred meters!

At this distance, unless with a hunting rifle, no other weapons can reach the red kangaroos, and even if they could, neither power nor accuracy would suffice!

Chen Wen was pondering whether to try using the long spear.

With the [Giant Strength] effect, he should be able to hit the group of red kangaroos from about a hundred meters away with the long spear.

But the hit rate was all up to luck.

Shaking his head, Chen Wen didn’t mention this thought.

It wasn’t stable enough.

Everyone remained silent, contemplating other hunting methods.

After a while.

Chen Wen said, ”I thought of two methods; see if they work.”

”The first method is ambush hunting: have someone lay in ambush and others try to drive the group of red kangaroos into the ambush range, then hunt them. What do you think?”

This method...

Hua Yun and Adam felt it was worth a try.

But Dennis shook his head: ”I think we should hear the second one; driving them is risky. Although red kangaroos are timid, if cornered from both sides, they can attack.”

Hua Yun and Adam shivered at the thought of the hefty muscles of the red kangaroos.

Unlike the close combat-skilled Chen Wen, they were better at long-range attacks.

Getting close to those strong red kangaroos, they risked getting injured.

Chen Wen also considered the nine-meter leap ability of red kangaroos.

At this speed, even he might not accurately predict and hit the red kangaroo.

Chen Wen nodded and said, ”The second method is that I’ll try it out myself.”

When everyone heard Chen Wen wanted to try himself, they got interested.

”This method is for me to hide among a camel group, driving them closer. Red kangaroos are wary of us but much less so of camels, making it easier to get closer.”

Chen Wen said, ”Once within fifty meters, I can try to hunt them.”

Fifty meters, for Chen Wen, the chance of hitting a red kangaroo exceeded fifty percent.

This probability was worth a try!

”This method seems viable, but why can only you try it?”

Dennis was puzzled.

He didn’t distrust Chen Wen, just curious.

Chen Wen explained, ”One thing is that you may not be able to drive the camel group and get them to behave; another is you can’t mask your scent. I have a local method I can only use myself.”

Now no one had any other objections.

And as Chen Wen said, he was the only one who could drive the camel herd.

At this time, Hua Yun mentioned, ”Actually, I feel neither plan conflicts; whether or not Chen Wen manages to hunt the red kangaroo, we can still lay in ambush. Once the kangaroo herd is startled, they’ll scatter, and with some luck, we can try hunting the incoming ones.”

Chen Wen didn’t object: ”But you guys should be careful, best in pairs, to avoid being unable to counterattack when red kangaroos get close.”

Hua Yun and Adam weren’t skilled in close combat but Fred was a real close combat expert.

Having seen Fred in action before, he used techniques similar to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

And although Dennis wasn’t good at fighting, a strong adult man with a machete surely wouldn’t be weaker than a red kangaroo.

They discussed and decided Hua Yun and Fred would team up to guard the northeast direction of the red kangaroo herd, while Adam and Dennis would guard the southeast direction.

Chen Wen would launch an attack from the west side.

After finalizing the hunting plan, they immediately dispersed.

The falcon and buzzard followed each group respectively.

Once in position, Hua Yun and Adam gently patted the raptors on their bodies.

Receiving the signal, they immediately flapped their wings and took off.

Returning to Chen Wen’s side, giving him the signal to attack.

Upon receiving the signal, Chen Wen immediately told the camel king: ”Take your harem and let’s head over to that grove!”

The camel king nodded, happily accepting Chen Wen’s arrangement.

After all, he was very pleased to have moved from the barren desert to this lush area.

Thus, the camel king made a series of peculiar sounds.

It summoned its harem and offspring, gathering them into a group, and leisurely heading towards the forest where the red kangaroo herd was located.

And Chen Wen silently followed within the camel group.

He hid behind the camel he tamed, walking leisurely.

Meanwhile, he activated the [Gua Fragrance] to mask his scent.
