Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Having survived for so long, Chen Wen’s eye for building shelters had become quite sharp.

He quickly found a spot suitable for constructing a shelter.

This wasn’t a particularly tall tree, but its trunk was very sturdy.

Besides, it had plenty of branches, all looking quite robust.

Chen Wen forcefully pushed the branches down and tried to sit on them.

”Oh! Very stable!”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but say, and even lifted his feet off the ground, putting his entire weight on it.

The branch just slightly bent and then stabilized.

As steady as a mountain!

Chen Wen couldn’t help but marvel at his luck; ever since acquiring the ”baobab tree” trait, his luck seemed consistently good.

After confirming the location for the shelter, Chen Wen began building.

He searched around the area.

Soon enough, Chen Wen found some very tough vines.

Collecting the vines.

Chen Wen planned to use these vines as ropes to secure his mattress and ceiling.

Just as Chen Wen was about to return, he scanned the plants in the area, hoping to find other useful items, like deadwood.

But as his gaze swept over one tree, he let out a small sound of surprise.

Then, Chen Wen used a long spear to brush through the shrubs and walked up to the tree.

Reaching out, Chen Wen picked an oval capsule off the tree.

Gently squeezing, he opened the capsule.

Some cotton-like substance appeared in Chen Wen’s hand.

”What’s this?”

Hua Yun passed by with a bundle of dry wood and immediately came over.

Holding the cotton-like substance, Chen Wen said, ”If I’m not mistaken, this should be a cotton tree.”

”Cotton tree?”

Hua Yun paused, thought carefully, and asked, ”Isn’t it the tree mentioned in the data, the one that can be used to start a fire?”

”That’s the one.”

Chen Wen nodded and handed the cotton-like substance to Hua Yun: ”Feel it, this thing is just like cotton and seems very flammable!”

Hua Yun took the fluff from the cotton tree capsule and gently pinched it.

As Chen Wen said, it felt just like cotton, with a very nice texture.

At this moment, Hua Yun seemed to recall something and said, ”I remember, this thing also has another name; do you know what it is?”

”What?”

This was Chen Wen’s knowledge blind spot.

Hua Yun smiled and handed the cotton to Chen Wen, ”Panzhihua, you know, the name of Panzhihua City in Hua Country comes from it! Plus, the city flower of Panzhihua City is also the cotton tree!”

Chen Wen suddenly realized, ”Whoa, and there’s such historical knowledge! I’ve learned something new, Miss Hua sure is knowledgeable!”

Hua Yun clicked her tongue and laughed, ”Student Chen still has a lot to learn, remember to consult the seniors more.”

Chen Wen nodded with a smile, putting the cotton away.

This stuff is great for starting a fire and should be kept.

After Hua Yun left, Chen Wen carefully checked the cotton tree for flowers.

Speaking of Panzhihua, Chen Wen was quite familiar with it.

The flower of the cotton tree, also known as Panzhihua, can be used medicinally.

Dried and used in porridge or soup, it has the effects of clearing heat and relieving dampness, and treating dysentery, enteritis, and stomach pain.

In other words, cotton tree flowers are edible and can even have healing attributes.

But after searching several times, Chen Wen found nothing.

”What a pity, it seems the cotton tree only bears capsules after the flowers have bloomed!”

Chen Wen shook his head, a bit disappointed.

However, he quickly thought, if the flowers are edible, what about the leaves?

Looking at the fresh leaves, Chen Wen gritted his teeth, ”Let’s give it a try!”

Having stumbled upon a recognizable plant, he had to extract its attributes somehow!

If it doesn’t work out, he could always soak it in water.

This time, Chen Wen carried an attribute of ”purification.”

This trait from the water lily allowed Chen Wen, when soaked in water, to slowly expel accumulated toxins from his body.

It’s just a leaf; it shouldn’t poison him instantly.

That is to say, as long as he soaks it in water and only eats a little.

He had the chance to acquire its characteristics.

With this thought, Chen Wen decisively plucked a leaf and kept it close to him.

After bringing back his findings.

Chen Wen began to construct his shelter.

And then the heavy rain came roaring down as everyone was still building their shelters.

This long-accumulated rain fell quite fiercely.

Bean-sized raindrops fell from the sky, densely packed, racing to drench Chen Wen.

Chen Wen’s clothes lasted less than fifteen seconds before becoming soaked.

Seeing the downpour, Chen Wen immediately quickened his pace.

About three to four minutes later.

With a strong pull on the vine, Chen Wen yanked branches and leaves from above onto the platform, sheltering it from the high raindrops and providing some cover for his shelter platform.

Then, Chen Wen carefully searched, laid plenty of wood on the platform to reinforce it, and increased comfort.

Next, Chen Wen gathered a heap of leaves, spreading them on his platform to sleep more comfortably.

After working busily for a long time and finishing these tasks, Chen Wen sat wearily on the platform, avoiding the rain.

But feeling the intensifying rain, he suddenly felt a refreshing feeling.

The downpour dispelled the accumulated heat, brought down the temperature, and filled Chen Wen with an unusual excitement.

The overwhelming dark clouds and rain curtain clawed at Chen Wen like the claws of an apocalyptic beast.

This extreme weather gave him an indescribable thrill.

Suddenly, Chen Wen remembered a phrase he had read, that extreme weather is a strong natural signal, like gales and downpours, mountains covered in snow, unintentionally weakening one’s perception of human society.

Your subconscious would tell you this is wind blowing from another part of the Earth, your vision is invisibly expanded, as if crossing spacetime, seeing the origin of the wind, the end of the snow.

Only then do you truly understand that you exist on Earth, in the universe, not in a human-made city, and only then do you truly connect with all things.

And only then do you free yourself from all constraints and achieve true freedom.

With this feeling, Chen Wen suddenly shed his drenched shirt, exposing his strong upper body to the air.

Although his muscles weren’t sharply defined, they conveyed a sense of strength.

He spread his arms wide, looked up at the sky.

At this moment, Chen Wen felt his journey here was worthwhile!

He felt the sharpness of the rain, the coolness of the wind, the land’s quench, the mountain’s breath.

”Woohoo~~~~~~”

Chen Wen couldn’t help but cheer.

Under the tree, Adam, Hua Yun, Fred, and Dennis turned to look.

At first, they didn’t understand Chen Wen’s actions and even thought he might have a fever.

But as the rain continued to fall, the accumulated rain on the nearby cliffs formed small waterfalls cascading from above.

Chen Wen rushed under the waterfall, excitedly washing his overgrown hair, dancing a chaotic dance.

A difficult-to-describe, undefinable feeling arose in everyone’s hearts.

Adam was the first to be unable to sit still.

He too shed his damp, stifling clothes and strode into the rain.

When the cool rain fell on Adam, flowing down his muscular contours across his body, he finally understood why Chen Wen was so happy.

”Such a wonderful feeling!”

Adam grinned, striding toward Chen Wen.

Behind, Dennis and Fred exchanged glances and also threw off their shirts, charging into the rain like children.

Seeing them, Hua Yun showed a look of envy.

After hesitating a bit, Hua Yun walked to the edge of the rain.

She extended her hand, allowing the rain to fall into her palm; soon, the drops gathered into water in her hand.

Hua Yun drank the rainwater, feeling a cool sensation rising from within.

Indeed, it felt so comfortable!
