Wilderness Survival with Druid System

But in reality, it was often Chen Wen’s opponent who succumbed.

Just like the Australian Wild Dog in front of him.

Chen Wen grabbed it and pinned it to the ground.

The Australian Wild Dog was still not giving up, trying to bite back at Chen Wen.

Chen Wen glanced around, casually picked up a stick about two fingers thick, and gave the Australian Wild Dog a few hard whacks.

The ferocious momentum of the Australian Wild Dog instantly evaporated.

This was a very clever Australian Wild Dog. Once it realized it was no match for Chen Wen, it decisively abandoned its resistance.

If it couldn’t go hard, it went soft.

The Australian Wild Dog let out a series of whimpers, as if begging for mercy.

Chen Wen frowned, scrutinizing the wild dog. After confirming it was no longer a threat, he gestured for Dennis to hand him a rope.

After tying up the wild dog and ensuring it wouldn’t escape, Chen Wen finally stood up.

”What do you say? What should we do next?”

Dennis asked.

But Chen Wen didn’t answer. He looked at Hua Yun squatting on the side and asked, ”What’s the situation with this dead one?”

There were two Australian Wild Dogs beyond this slope.

But one of them was dead, and it looked like it had died recently.

Hua Yun reached out and turned the dead Australian Wild Dog over, exposing its belly: ”Look here, its stomach is pierced by something unknown, there’s a bloody hole, probably died from excessive bleeding.”

Chen Wen walked over to the wild dog, flipped its belly, and looked closely.

Then Chen Wen used his fingers to part the fur around the wound, examining the marks in detail.

After a moment, he frowned and said, ”Looks like... the wound is caused by something like a bow and arrow, but it doesn’t seem like a modern bow and arrow. The wound looks too coarse and large. What do you think?”

Hua Yun nodded and took out her bow and arrow, comparing it to the wound.

The group could clearly see that the wound on the Australian Wild Dog was much larger than the bow and arrow.

”I think it should be the result of local indigenous hunters’ hunting.”

Dennis said.

He recalled the detailed records from the association: ”In this area, there are about two to three hundred indigenous people, true indigenous people who still maintain their original routines without exposure to modern technology.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen looked at Dennis incredulously.

Are there still such indigenous people now?

Dennis nodded, insisting that there definitely are.

”Alright, since it’s confirmed to be indigenous people, let’s prepare for contact with them. They should be friendly, right?”

Chen Wen asked.

Dennis nodded: ”The association has had contact with them, as long as we don’t offend them, they won’t bother us either.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen felt a lot more at ease.

However, to be safe, he didn’t just leave it at that but asked detailed questions, including about their clothing.

”What kind of clothing do these indigenous people typically wear?”

”Their own handmade clothes, they don’t usually wear outside clothing, and this season, they mostly just wear an animal skin skirt.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen nodded slightly.

He called on Xiǎo Yuān, instructing it to search the surrounding area for any signs of human presence.

Regarding the indigenous people, Chen Wen didn’t want to make contact with them, preferring to bypass their locations if possible.

...

After Xiǎo Yuān left,

Chen Wen turned his attention to the still alive Australian Wild Dog.

At this point, it wasn’t making any noise; it simply lay on the ground, its body trembling slightly.

”What should we do with it?”

Dennis walked over to the Australian Wild Dog and picked it up.

The Australian Wild Dog immediately began to struggle due to the movement, but because Chen Wen had tied it tightly, it couldn’t break free from the rope.

”Let’s take it back to Fred.”

Chen Wen suggested.

After Fred took the living Australian Wild Dog back, Chen Wen and Dennis began to deal with the dead one.

Adhering to the principle of not wasting resources,

they planned to process this Australian Wild Dog and store it as a meat supply.

After all, they were in short supply of meat right now.

Meanwhile, Hua Yun took her bow and arrow, searching the area for other signs of prey.

Generally, where Australian Wild Dogs live, there are more small to medium-sized prey.

If they could find additional prey, it would be ideal.

However, before Hua Yun could find anything, Xiǎo Yuān flew back.

It landed directly beside Chen Wen and quickly narrated the situation it encountered.

”Chen Wen, I saw people, but they weren’t like you said, they were dressed similarly to you.”

Hearing Xiǎo Yuān’s words, Chen Wen paused.

He looked around, Hua Yun was not there, and Dennis was dealing with the Australian Wild Dog at a distance.

Ensuring neither could hear what was happening on this side, Chen Wen immediately asked for details: ”Dressed similarly to me? How many people were there?”

”Four!”

Hearing this number, Chen Wen’s brow tightened.

He didn’t like this number at all.

Because this number often represented a very detestable organization to him — the Hunting Owl Team!

This organization was most skilled at forming small teams of four to five to conduct poaching activities.

”I understand. When you saw them, did they notice you?”

Chen Wen continued to ask.

Xiǎo Yuān shook its head: ”They were roasting meat, specifically the meat of an Australian Wild Dog. They’re about an hour’s journey away from here at your speed.”

Hearing this, Chen Wen frowned again.

Too close!

No, they need to be avoided!

Chen Wen pondered this, repeatedly confirming the position of the Hunting Owl Team, planning to bypass them before making an assault.

After confirming the position, Chen Wen patted Xiǎo Yuān lightly, rewarding it with some raw meat.

At that moment, Hua Yun also returned.

She didn’t bring back any prey, but she did bring back some news: ”The blood trail from this wild dog leads from that direction.”

The direction Hua Yun pointed out was identical to the direction where Xiǎo Yuān located the Hunting Owl Team.

Chen Wen nodded worriedly, saying, ”I understand, we’ll try to avoid that direction and take another route.”

Seemingly sensing a change in Chen Wen’s demeanor,

Hua Yun asked, ”What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

Chen Wen instinctively shook his head, wanting to reassure Hua Yun.

However, after a moment’s thought, he said, ”It might be nothing, but it could also be something major. Either way, if I happen to leave the group for some reason, you take over command and discuss any issues with Adam and Dennis.”

Hearing this, Hua Yun immediately sensed the potential for something major to happen.

But she wasn’t one to be indecisive.

Seeing that Chen Wen had already made up his mind, Hua Yun quickly chose to support his decision: ”Since you’ve said so, I’ll follow your lead. But once we’re back, remember to carry some external medicine and bandages from the medical kit with you, just in case!”

After speaking, Hua Yun paused: ”If anything unexpected happens, I’ll immediately take everyone else and leave, I won’t be a burden to you.”

Chen Wen smiled and nodded: ”Alright, but it’s also possible I’m overthinking it. Plus, since we discovered this early, there’s a greater chance we can avoid it.”

Hua Yun slightly nodded, but her eyes remained alert.
